Chapter 13
Su Yunzhe wasn’t angry; he simply shot Shen Yan a half-smile that seemed to say, “Who cares about your gratitude?”
Unable to hold back, Shen Yan rolled his eyes at him, then fell silent.
He really didn’t understand Su Yunzhe’s temperament. Although his actions were well-intentioned, the way he expressed himself often left people feeling frustrated.
Su Yunzhe lived by the seaside, and there was half a district separating his place from where Shen Yan lived.
Fortunately, it was already eleven o’clock, and the traffic was light. Even so, they didn’t get through the door until nearly midnight.
Shen Yan was quite tired. Plus, since it was late at night, he felt it was better to avoid staying alone with Su Yunzhe for too long; otherwise, Su Yunzhe might misunderstand his intentions again. So, he politely greeted him and went upstairs to the guest room.
Since it was already late, he took a quick shower and dried his hair, planning to sleep. Just then, there was a knock on the door.
“President Su?” he called hesitantly, instinctively looking down at his clothes.
He had only bought two sets of women’s clothing for meeting Su Yunzhe. The rest of his clothes were ordinary men’s outfits. At the moment, he was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, which were the simplest of male attire.
He hadn’t expected Su Yunzhe to come looking for him at this hour.
If Su Yunzhe saw him dressed like this, would it lead to some misunderstanding?
His mind raced with how to respond when he heard Su Yunzhe’s voice from outside, “Come out for a moment.”
“Uh…” Shen Yan hesitated. “Is there something you need, President Su? Can it wait until tomorrow morning? I’m a bit… inconvenient right now.”
There was a pause outside, then Su Yunzhe replied, “Put your hand out.”
Huh?
Shen Yan felt a bit bewildered, but it was better than making him go outside, so he opened the door a crack and extended one hand.
Su Yunzhe said, “The other one.”
Shen Yan: ?
Still, he obediently switched hands and extended the other one, only to have it immediately grasped by Su Yunzhe.
Shen Yan thought Su Yunzhe might be giving him something, but instead, Su Yunzhe gently peeled off the Band-Aid on his fingertip.
Uh…
So, Su Yunzhe specifically came at this hour just to change his Band-Aid?
Shen Yan had already forgotten about it; he must have gotten it wet while showering.
It was just a tiny cut; it hardly counted as a wound.
But Su Yunzhe was so concerned; it really was puzzling.
Shen Yan’s mind was filled with questions, but his fingertip felt exceptionally sensitive to Su Yunzhe’s gentle touch, causing a slight tickle. He instinctively tried to pull away, only to be held lightly in place, not tightly restraining him, just enough to keep him from moving around.
Once the new Band-Aid was on, Su Yunzhe released his hand, his tone calm yet serious: “I told you not to get it wet; remember that!”
Without waiting for Shen Yan to respond, he turned and walked away.
Shen Yan pulled his hand back, staring at the newly placed Band-Aid on his fingertip, dazed for a moment. After a while, he shook his head, baffled by Su Yunzhe’s behavior, then climbed into bed, turned off the light, and fell asleep.
He woke up early, and after a long day of exertion, he was genuinely tired. It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep, but his dreams were restless and strange, shifting from being at home in his original world with his sister dragging him out shopping, to being trapped in Duan Yang’s villa, unable to find an exit…
It wasn’t until dawn that he finally settled into a peaceful sleep, and when he awoke, it was already past ten, jolted awake by his phone ringing.
Half-asleep, he picked up the phone and answered, “Hello, who is it?”
“Miss Shen, it’s Yu Lin. I contacted you yesterday. Are you free for lunch today?”
Only then did Shen Yan remember he had indeed promised. Forcing himself to shake off the drowsiness, he replied, “Sure, but can I choose the place?”
As he spoke, he wandered into the bathroom, still a bit dazed.
“Of course! Just send me the address, and we can meet at eleven-thirty, okay?” Yu Lin responded.
“Sounds good.”
After hanging up, Shen Yan sent Yu Lin his location and then set his phone aside to wash up.
From yesterday’s encounter, it seemed Duan Yang no longer suspected him. However, he still needed to be cautious. What if Duan Yang’s previous behavior was all an act, meant to lower his guard, and then he planned to seize him back during lunch today?
So, it was safer for him to choose the location.
Once he finished washing up, he changed clothes, tidied up the guest room, and went downstairs, not seeing Su Yunzhe around.
He thought about sending Su Yunzhe a text to say goodbye, but on the coffee table in the living room, he found a note: “Order takeout if you’re hungry. Don’t rush back; your place needs a few days to dry completely. Of course, if you want to go back, I won’t stop you.”
Shen Yan stared at the note for a moment, wondering what Su Yunzhe’s problem was, why he had to add that last line?
However, Su Yunzhe was right; his apartment had effectively been flooded last night. Even with the water shut off, it would take time to return to normal.
If Su Yunzhe hadn’t reminded him, he wouldn’t have thought of it at all.
Ultimately, Shen Yan was used to a comfortable life. Since arriving in this world, many things were beyond his control, and he could only try to adapt.
But he wouldn’t refuse an alternative plan, so he turned around and went back upstairs to toss his bag into the guest room before heading downstairs to check the kitchen.
Su Yunzhe’s fridge was stocked with everything, but unfortunately, nothing was ready to eat.
Not knowing how to cook, Shen Yan settled for a glass of milk to fill his stomach. After checking the time, he took the spare key Su Yunzhe had left behind and headed out.
When he reached the entrance of the community, Duan Yang and Yu Lin had just arrived.
Duan Yang was currently very popular, so he certainly couldn’t get out of the car on the main road; if he was recognized, it could cause a scene. Shen Yan gestured to them from the car window, pointing to a Chinese restaurant across the street.
Qingshui Bay was by the sea, with beautiful surroundings and great scenery, so the property prices were naturally high. As a result, most of the residents here were wealthy, and the various shops nearby were equally upscale.
The restaurant Shen Yan casually pointed out looked unremarkable from the outside, but inside it had a unique ambiance, and the service was excellent.
Shen Yan entered first, aware of Duan Yang’s status, and specifically requested a private room.
After Duan Yang and Yu Lin parked, Yu Lin pointed back at Qingshui Bay Community, saying, “Su Yunzhe lives here.”
Duan Yang glanced back, then looked at Yu Lin, his tone slightly impatient: “Are you reminding me again about Shen Yan’s relationship with Su Yunzhe? I already know!” With that, he pushed the door open and got out.
Yu Lin hurriedly followed him, catching up. “I meant, are they living together now?”
Yu Lin’s tone was tinged with unmistakable curiosity.
