Chapter 3

Ye Mingxuan had a terrifying dream.

An octopus wrapped around his body, leaving slime on his face, from his forehead to his jaw, licking his entire face wet, then extending its slimy tentacles to pry open his lips and teeth.

In the pitch-black space, a man was pressing down on him and kissing him.

In the darkness, he couldn’t make out the man’s features, only his outline.

“I married a wife, not a vase.” The man’s scorching palm gripped his leg, feeling a smooth, slippery surface.

Tan Sizhe’s eyes darkened as he grabbed his leg. The latter’s slightly cool skin felt as refreshing as an ice pop on a summer day.

“No, don’t…” Ye Mingxuan panicked and pulled his leg back.

The man’s fingertips slid up his leg, following the slightly cool skin: “Then why did you marry me?”

A strange current surged through his mind, and Ye Mingxuan jolted awake, remembering why he had married Tan Sizhe.

Tan Sizhe gripped his leg, and Ye Mingxuan instinctively kicked out twice, shrinking toward the head of the bed.

“…” Tan Sizhe finally lost his patience.

He stepped back, the air around him growing heavy, his voice cold: “Since you’re so unwilling, maybe we should just call it off.”

Ye Mingxuan’s eyes widened as he watched the man rise. He rushed forward and grabbed his shirt: “Don’t!”

“Don’t what?”

“Don’t divorce me…” Ye Mingxuan knelt on the bed, clutching the man’s clothes, his shoulders trembling lightly like butterfly wings.

The man was tall, almost blocking the ceiling.

His eyes flickered with moist tears. Ye Mingxuan bit his lower lip: “Can we… not divorce…”

The man turned his head. After a moment, he sat down, his breath overwhelming, reaching out to lift his chin, his tone ambiguous: “Then kiss me.”

Ye Mingxuan’s teeth chattered as he reluctantly closed his eyes and lifted his head to kiss the man’s lips.

  “Ugh…”

“Open your mouth.”

Though reluctant, Ye Mingxuan convinced himself and tremblingly opened his mouth.

The man’s tongue fiercely invaded, sweeping every inch of taste in his mouth.

Ye Mingxuan whimpered as his mouth was held open, sucked and bitten. His lips felt hot, as if they were swollen…

Ye Mingxuan trembled all over, his mind going blank, almost forgetting how to undo the buttons.

The night was hazy, and Ye Mingxuan was overwhelmed by shame. When the man stripped off his clothes, he covered his chest.

He seemed to hear the man laugh softly, feeling not only ashamed but also humiliated. But under the man’s overwhelming pressure, he had no choice but to open himself up.

  …

After a night of turmoil, Ye Mingxuan woke up feeling as though his entire body had been run over by a truck.

The man was already gone.

Last night, the other party had shown mercy, taking Ye Mingxuan only once.

But that one time lasted over an hour, and after it ended, Ye Mingxuan, who was experiencing such things for the first time, fell asleep immediately.

However, the man had taken the time to wipe Ye Mingxuan’s body dry while he was unconscious, so Ye Mingxuan woke up feeling fresh and clean.

She turned around and greeted him: “President Tan instructed me to prepare a light breakfast. Please let me know if it suits your taste.”

Ye Mingxuan: “Where is President Tan?”

“President Tan has already left,” Aunt Fu said.

Ye Mingxuan nodded awkwardly: “Oh.”

Breakfast was a simple Chinese meal: shrimp congee with fried dough sticks. Ye Mingxuan didn’t leave any leftovers this time; he ate it all, his little belly bulging.

Then she enthusiastically saw Ye Mingxuan off.

Ye Mingxuan hadn’t brought his old bicycle, so he took the bus with his umbrella.

The bus stop was not far from the residential area, and it was only five stops to A University. As Bai Yu had said, it was indeed convenient for him to go to school.

Entering the classroom, Lin Jiale greeted him: “Mingxuan, over here!”

Ye Mingxuan walked over to him and was about to sit down when a sharp pain shot through his buttocks.

Lin Jiale looked at Ye Mingxuan and felt that something was off about him; he looked radiant and beautiful.

Ye Mingxuan closed his eyes tightly and buried his head in his textbook.

“Mingxuan,” Lin Jiale couldn’t help but ask, “Are you in a relationship?”

“What?”

“Your neck.” Lin Jiale pointed to the red mark on his neck and asked curiously, “Did your boyfriend bite you?”

Ye Mingxuan covered his neck, his eyes darting around in panic: “Um… is it that obvious?”

Ye Mingxuan listened and could only sit up straight, unable to even daydream during class.

He had already restrained himself last night, but he didn’t know if his newlywed wife had overslept this morning.

This morning when he woke up, the young man was still asleep. Tan Sizhe bent down to check and saw clear fingerprints on the other’s pale thigh.

Just one glance, and that bone-chilling, soul-stirring sensation surged back into his mind.

“President Tan, President Tan.” Bai Yu called out to him, hoping he’d say a few more words.

Tan Sizhe snapped back to reality, opened his mouth, and found himself at a loss for words for the first time: “If there are no objections, let’s adjourn the meeting.”

Bai Yu: ?

Ye Xiang sent a message:

[After school, meet us at the school gate with Yufan, and we’ll go out to eat together.]

Ye Mingxuan replied, “Okay,” then looked up at the PowerPoint presentation and flipped to the corresponding chapter of “Introduction to Civil Engineering.”

Lin Jiale opened her phone and excitedly discussed with the person next to her: “The stock of Yuanzhe Group is doing so well. I should buy more.”

Upon hearing “Yuanze Group,” Ye Mingxuan’s eyelashes twitched uneasily, and he covered his ears.

After waiting for about ten minutes, Ye Yufan arrived late, stuffing her sketchbook and backpack into the trunk.

“This is so annoying! The smell of paint is all over my clothes.” Ye Yufan sat in the car angrily, then looked at Ye Mingxuan and said disapprovingly, “Why are you here?”

“Yufan, Mingxuan is having dinner with us. Be polite to him,” Ye Xiangkai said.

“Right, he’s now Mrs. Tan,” Zhao Dongxuan said from the passenger seat with a sarcastic tone, “His status is naturally different from ours now.”

Ye Mingxuan hurriedly lowered his head.

Zhao Dongxuan noticed Ye Mingxuan’s pale complexion and asked, “Mingxuan, why are you so pale? Did President Tan treat you badly?”

Ye Yufan heard this and chuckled maliciously.

“Yes, yes.” Ye Mingxuan’s eyes darted around nervously, unable to mention last night’s experience. “President Tan has been… kind to me.”

“Oh, really?” Seeing Ye Mingxuan like this, Zhao Dongxuan clearly didn’t believe him. She chuckled, “Well, that’s wonderful. I knew it—you’ll definitely be living in luxury once you marry into that family.”

Ye Yufan snorted and sat as close to the car door as possible, keeping the greatest distance from Ye Mingxuan.

“Yes, you look beautiful no matter what you wear.”

“Thank you, husband~”

Ye Mingxuan listened to their conversation and realized from their words that the two families were going to have a meal together today.

Ye Mingxuan suddenly felt a chill.

Last night, the lights were off, and he hadn’t seen Tan Sizhe’s face.

How was he supposed to recognize Tan Sizhe?
