Chapter 19

The fifth bottle of liquor arrived, and it was the most crucial one.

If Xie Xiaojiang could remain sober after drinking this bottle, then there would be a 99% chance of defeating Wang Daqi.

However, don’t underestimate this bottle of liquor. After already consuming four jin of Baijiu, no one knew which sip of liquor would be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

This time, Wei Yuhuan personally poured the wine for Xie Xiaojiang. He specifically asked the server for a small cup, allowing Xie Xiaojiang to drink in small sips.

Everyone was nervous, staring at him. Every time Xie Xiaojiang took a small sip, they would swallow their saliva, fearing that he would turn pale and pass out the next second. Even the server stood by with bated breath, ready to call an ambulance.

Xie Xiaojiang drank quietly, not speaking. Everyone saw his face grow redder, and his eyes brighter as he continued to drink. He didn’t look like a drunkard at all, and those who didn’t know thought he was drinking plain water!

After finishing the whole bottle of liquor, Xie Xiaojiang sat there calmly. Wei Yuhuan asked him how he felt, and Xie Xiaojiang slowly turned his head to look at him, smiling, “I told you I could handle it.”

Wei Yuhuan looked at those starry eyes for a moment, and his heart skipped a beat.

Very few people didn’t admire those who possessed unique skills, even if Xie Xiaojiang had an ordinary identity. Today, he had opened the eyes of these people, and they were all amazed.

Shao Yongyang started cheering and asked if Xie Xiaojiang wanted another bottle. Xie Xiaojiang nodded and said, “Sure.”

After seeing him drink so much liquor without any visible effects, everyone thought he was naturally gifted. They no longer felt anxious and were cheering him on.

Wei Yuhuan stared fixedly at Xie Xiaojiang’s face, still savoring the unprecedented heartbeat he had just experienced. When he came back to his senses, Xie Xiaojiang was already finishing the sixth bottle of liquor.

It’s unclear whether he drank too quickly, but Xie Xiaojiang suddenly choked.

Wei Yuhuan’s heart jumped to his throat, and he reached out to pat Xie Xiaojiang’s back, handing him the honey water that he had prepared earlier. With a stern expression, he said, “Enough, stop drinking.”

Xie Xiaojiang’s whole face turned red, not the kind of redness from blood vessels, but a light crimson color. His eyes seemed to have been immersed in water, extremely attractive.

When Wei Yuhuan spoke up, everyone stopped making a fuss and urged Xie Xiaojiang to eat something to ease his drunkenness.

Xie Xiaojiang was already full from the baijiu and although he didn’t look drunk, he felt too lethargic to eat anything.

Seeing him in discomfort, Wei Yuhuan personally peeled a crab leg for him, piled the white and tender crab meat onto a spoon, and fed it to him.

Xie Xiaojiang instinctively opened his mouth to eat it, but still looked lazy and uninterested in anything.

Everyone was stunned by this scene, especially Shao Yongyang. In his memory, only handsome young men would try to curry favor with Wei Yuhuan, and even those who could establish a relationship with him would be his lovers serving him. When did Wei Yuhuan ever personally feed someone else?

Looking at Wei Yuhuan’s eager attitude just now, it was as if he had switched roles with his former lovers.

… This Xie Xiaojiang was really extraordinary!

It was approaching nine o’clock and everyone had eaten enough, so it was time to leave. The doctor friend of Wei Yuhuan confirmed that Xie Xiaojiang was fine and only left him a few pieces of hangover medicine, reminding him to drink more water when his stomach felt better.

The hotel was not far from the Chunjiang Huajing Garden, so Xie Xiaojiang suggested walking back and Wei Yuhuan naturally agreed. He was holding Xie Xiaojiang like a precious animal in his hands, obeying his every request.

It was already February and nearing the Spring Festival. The temperature in S City had dropped below zero, with the damp cold penetrating their bones.

Xie Xiaojiang felt hot all over from the alcohol, but didn’t feel cold after leaving the hotel. He even had his collar open and was breathing in the damp cold air with big mouthfuls.

Wei Yuhuan reminded him, “Pull up your collar and be careful not to catch a cold.”

Xie Xiaojiang shook his head and said, “I’m not cold. People who drink are hot.”

Wei Yuhuan sighed helplessly, and the two slowly walked back along the Fengjiang Bridge. As they walked, Xie Xiaojiang suddenly shook his head. Wei Yuhuan asked, “What’s wrong?”

Xie Xiaojiang moved his lips but didn’t say anything. He walked two more steps, then suddenly ran ahead, running faster and faster.

Wei Yuhuan’s face changed, and he quickly caught up, calling out his name: “Xie Xiaojiang!”

Xie Xiaojiang ran for a while before stopping, panting and bending over, supporting his knees. Wei Yuhuan caught up from behind and asked what was wrong. Xie Xiaojiang pulled at his collar and said after a while, “I don’t feel well.”

Wei Yuhuan nervously asked, “Where does it hurt?”

Xie Xiaojiang bit his tongue and said unclearly, “There’s a strange fire running through my body.”

Wei Yuhuan’s heart skipped a beat. Was this guy just getting drunk now? “Let me take you to the hospital,” he said, grabbing Xie Xiaojiang’s arm, but he was shaken off.

Xie Xiaojiang insisted, “I’m fine.”

Wei Yuhuan said sternly, “Don’t joke with me! Do you know how much you drank just now?”

Xie Xiaojiang was stubborn. “I know, but I’m not drunk!”

“People who are drunk always say they’re not drunk. You’re not acting normally right now, so let’s go to the hospital.” Wei Yuhuan grabbed his hand again, not giving him a chance to object, and raised his other hand to hail a taxi.

Xie Xiaojiang hugged Wei Yuhuan’s arm and pulled him towards the edge of the bridge. “Yu Ge, I really am fine. I don’t want to go to the hospital!”

Wei Yuhuan was getting angry. He didn’t know what Xie Xiaojiang was insisting on. Even if he was fine, getting a blood test and check-up at the hospital could put his mind at ease. Did this guy not know how worried he was about him?

“I’m not drunk. I’m just hot.” Xie Xiaojiang stubbornly argued.

Wei Yuhuan wanted to just carry him on his shoulders, but he didn’t expect Xie Xiaojiang, who had been drinking, to be as strong as a bull. Wei Yuhuan couldn’t budge him and was pushed towards the railing by the edge of the river.

As Wei Yuhuan’s face grew increasingly grim, Xie Xiaojiang’s eyes turned red. The shining eyes under the street lamp were staring at Wei Yuhuan, and his slightly twisted lips revealed a hint of stubbornness.

Wei Yuhuan was softened by his gaze. He stopped trying to force Xie Xiaojiang and instead reached out to rub his head, frowning and asking sincerely, “Other than feeling hot, is there anywhere else that’s uncomfortable?”

Xie Xiaojiang blinked and looked at Wei Yuhuan for a long time before dumbly and foolishly asking, “Yu Ge, why are you so good to me?” As soon as he finished speaking, two clear tears streamed down Xie Xiaojiang’s cheeks!

Wei Yuhuan was stunned, as if someone had pressed an acupoint and all his attention was stolen by Xie Xiaojiang.

Xie Xiaojiang completely broke down as he cried, tears streaming down his face as he blubbered, “Buy me clothes, give me a house to live in, take me to nice places, eat good food…waaah…you said let me drink for you, and we’ll be even, and I thought, where in the world could there be such a good thing…I initially thought you were just like my fellow villagers, being nice to me at first, but it was all to deceive me…but when we were drinking just now, those people all asked me to drink, but you were so concerned about me, worried I’d get drunk…Yuhuan, all I can do to make it up to you is to drink, I’m not good at anything else, even if I drink myself to death today, Xie Xiaojiang will accept it willingly, but you still care about me so much…waaah…”

Wei Yuhuan stood by and listened, watching Xie Xiaojiang cry so pitifully while also speaking so passionately. His heart felt like it had rolled in hot oil and soaked in ice water at the same time.

What should he do? He really likes this guy…he’s so cute…he could die for him!

Xie Xiaojiang wiped his tears forcefully, not wanting to appear so miserable in front of Wei Yuhuan, but he didn’t know if it was because of the alcohol or not, her physiological functions were largely out of control, and the more he wiped, the more tears flowed. Even snot came out, and he accidentally blew a bubble with his nose.

Xie Xiaojiang was stunned, and he and Wei Yuhuan stared at each other. Wei Yuhuan couldn’t help but “puff” a laugh, making Xie Xiaojiang laugh foolishly too.

He was about to use his sleeve to wipe his nose, but Wei Yuhuan blocked him.

Wei Yuhuan wasn’t disgusted by him being dirty, he directly reached out and twisted his nose, looking at the little face that was crying like a flower cat, he whispered, “Crying and laughing, you’re so silly.”

Fool, I’m good to you for a reason.

The indulgent gesture and the gentle tone weaved a thick layer of ambiguity, spreading between the two.

This teasing skill seemed to be innate to Wei Yuhuan, no lover had ever made him feel like this, his whole heart was melting into a puddle of water.

However, faced with someone like Xie Xiaojiang, Wei Yuhuan couldn’t bring himself to feel any dirty desires, which was a rare occurrence for him. He only did it to see the other person smile again, looking at him with that admiring, grateful gaze, as if this alone could satisfy him.

He even thought about whether he should learn to carry a handkerchief like his brother, so that When Xie Xiaojiang cries again, he can pull out the handkerchief in time.

Xie Xiaojiang cried for a while, venting some of the pent-up heat in his body, feeling much better than before. But exhaustion soon followed.

Seeing that he wasn’t in too much trouble, Wei Yuhuan didn’t insist on taking him to the hospital. He just unconsciously took his hand when he saw that Xie Xiaojiang was walking a bit unsteadily.

Xie Xiaojiang didn’t resist and subconsciously trusted Wei Yuhuan with all his heart.

The two walked side by side towards home, and Wei Yuhuan suddenly asked, “What happened with your hometown friend who cheated you?”

Xie Xiaojiang’s brain was dulled by alcohol, and the tragic story he usually kept hidden was now pouring out like rotten sesame seeds. When he talked about how he was cheated out of all his money and had nowhere to go, he lost control of his emotions again and his eyes turned sour.

Wei Yuhuan listened with a heartache, realizing that Xie Xiaojiang had crashed into his life because of this reason…
