Chapter 1

Ruan Shuyang nervously walked through the unfamiliar upscale club with his fiancé Pei Siyue.

He had been arranged by his family to engage to Pei Siyue shortly after turning 18. He had no expectations for the alpha his family had chosen for him, but Pei Siyue turned out to be unexpectedly kind.

He never scolded him, listened patiently to what he had to say, and even bought him delicious little cakes.

Pei Siming took him to a club he had never been to before.

The club looked very upscale. The walls of the elevator lobby were made of golden marble, with natural golden patterns flowing like molten lava beneath the glass panels. After taking the elevator to the fourth floor, the walls on both sides of the corridor were covered in ink-colored wallpaper, resembling a traditional Chinese ink wash painting.

They walked along the corridor to the end, stopping in front of the private room door. Pei Siming looked at Ruan Shuyang with a complex expression, then reached out and gently touched Ruan Shuyang’s soft cheek. The texture was smooth and slippery, smoother than the finest silk.

Ruan Shuyang was a strikingly beautiful male omega, bearing no resemblance to Ruan Jianchuan but resembling his mother, who had once been a genius jewelry designer.

His skin was as delicate as porcelain bathed in moonlight, white almost to the point of transparency, with a hint of pink on his cheeks and lips as delicate as newly blooming cherry blossoms. At 18, his omega’s bones had not yet fully developed, giving him a small face with large eyes, almond-shaped and brimming with moisture. His slender frame had a waist so narrow it could be encircled with one hand.

Such a beautiful, tempting, and obedient omega always looked at him with trust, and every time he looked at him, there was a sparkling light in his eyes.

Pei Siming could clearly see that Ruan Shuyang admired and liked him greatly.

But unfortunately, he was a bastard.

If he weren’t a bastard, it wouldn’t be impossible to keep him around for a while.

Thinking that he would need this young omega’s help later, Pei Siming spoke softly, “Once we go inside, you’ll see someone who’s very helpful to my business. Whatever he asks you to do, just do it. Don’t resist, understand?”

Ruan Shuyang instinctively felt something was off upon hearing this, but when he saw Pei Siming’s gentle expression, he swallowed his words.

After all, Pei Siming had been so kind to him; it was only natural for him to help the other party.

However, lost in his pleasant thoughts, he failed to notice the coldness behind that gentle gaze.

Pei Siming only wanted to use him.

The alpha’s gaze made him feel extremely uncomfortable, like a venomous snake silently flickering its tongue. instinctively looking at Pei Siming for help. However, Pei Siming seemed to have completely ignored his plea, dragging him to sit next to that alpha. The two alphas sandwiched him between them, pressing him so tightly he could barely breathe. Even the gland at the back of his neck, which had been blocked and pressed against his skin, began to stir restlessly.

Lu Zheng looked down at the omega Pei Siming had brought, who seemed unnaturally thin, with shoulders so narrow that the protruding butterfly bones were visible through his T-shirt.

He furrowed his brows.

He had never liked very thin omegas, as they were too fragile to handle—playing with them for even a short time could lead to trouble. He usually preferred more robust omegas.

He looked at Pei Siming disapprovingly and asked, “Why is he so thin?”

Pei Siming smiled and replied, “Being thin has its advantages, and besides, he’s safe.”

Lu Zheng knew what Pei Siming meant by “safe.” This pitifully skinny little omega was being used as a pawn by his family. As long as he didn’t kill him, even if he crippled him, no one would come to his defense. At most, they’d just give his family some extra money.

Ruan Shuyang glanced at the two alphas beside him, sensing something was off about their conversation. Just as he was about to ask Pei Siming what was going on, he felt Pei Siming’s hand on his shoulder, pressing down with enough force to keep him from standing up.

Pei Siming supported his shoulders as he stood up, whispering to him, “I’ll be gone for a moment. Stay here and keep Lu Zhen, the CEO, company.”

Before Ruan Shuyang could process the meaning, he watched as Pei Siming rose and left the private room, closing the door behind him.

After Pei Siming left, Lu Zheng, who was beside him, seemed to have no more reservations. His alpha pheromones began to be released unrestrainedly, quickly removing the barrier patches from the omegas around him.

Ruan Shuyang was caught off guard when his barrier patch was removed. He instinctively covered his glands and looked at Lu Zheng beside him in surprise.

Lu Zheng gave a particularly cruel smile.

“Don’t you know what’s going on?” Lu Zheng reminded him with a malicious tone, “Your fiancé sold you to me. He sold you for a good price. I hope you don’t disappoint me.”

Ruan Shuyang stared in disbelief, his body reacting faster than his mind as he stood up and rushed toward the door.

Lu Zheng grabbed him by the wrist, his large hand clamping down like an iron vise. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t break free.

“Run, struggle a bit more—it makes it more interesting.” Lu Zheng said with a mocking, playful tone, “I hate omegas who lie in bed like dead fish, showing no emotion at all.”

Ruan Shuyang didn’t even bother to listen to what Lu Zheng was saying. He struggled desperately, and when he realized he couldn’t break free, he simply bit down on the other man’s wrist with his teeth.

Lu Zheng winced in pain, instinctively shaking off Ruan Shuyang, his expression darkening instantly. “I enjoy watching fish struggle in their final moments, but I don’t like omegas who resist to the end. If you provoke me, you might leave here today missing something.”

Lu Zheng had thrown Ruan Shuyang toward the door earlier. After enduring the pain and getting to his feet, Ruan Shuyang disregarded everything else and clung to the door, trying to twist the lock and escape.

Lu Zheng sneered, slowly approaching. Pei Siming must have locked the door from the outside before leaving. Ruan Shuyang was trapped like a turtle in a jar, unable to escape. He could enjoy watching his prey struggle a little longer.

However, he saw Ruan Shuyang suddenly twist open the door lock and dart out quickly.

Lu Zheng froze for a moment, unsure where things had gone wrong. When he snapped out of it, his face turned ashen. By the time he rushed out, the corridor was empty. He kicked open the door to the adjacent room where the bodyguards and secretary were stationed, ordering them to search for the person.

After escaping from the private room, Ruan Shuyang instinctively wanted to find cover as quickly as possible, standing in a place where he couldn’t be seen from the entrance of the private room.

At that moment, the emergency exit a few steps away was unguarded, so he quickly ran into it, intending to escape through the emergency exit.

He walked down the escape passageway, but as he descended the stairs, he gradually lost his strength, his body temperature slowly rose, his legs grew weaker, and the scent of lily of the valley, unobstructed by any barriers, became increasingly sweet and cloying. It felt as though waves were surging within his body.

Alpha pheromones can induce and forcefully trigger an omega’s heat cycle, causing it to arrive prematurely. The alpha who had just released his pheromones without restraint was likely doing so to induce his heat cycle.

Only an omega in heat can be permanently marked.

Ruan Shuyang’s gland blocker patch was removed, and despite his intense aversion to the sulfuric scent of that person’s pheromones, his body couldn’t help but be aroused by his instincts.

During an omega’s heat cycle, the surging waves within his body would drain him of all his strength. As he struggled to hold onto the staircase railing and made his way to the emergency exit door on the third floor, he suddenly heard voices from below.

Ruan Shuyang’s heart sank. Just as he was about to push open the emergency exit door to avoid the people searching for him on the stairs, he suddenly heard a familiar voice coming from the other side of the door.

Through the crack in the emergency exit door, Ruan Shuyang saw two people standing on the other side, one of whom was his fiancé, Pei Siming.

Pei Siming was facing away from him, so his expression was unclear. He only heard the person beside him ask, “Your little omega should be almost devoured by now. Do you feel any regret?”

“Him?” Pei Siming scoffed, speaking in a mocking and icy tone, “A lowly bastard. Touching him would make me feel dirty. If it weren’t for the need for a marriage alliance as a pretext for collaborating with the Ruan family jewelry business, I would never have agreed to marry him.”

“Is that so? Then I can rest assured—”

Ruan Shuyang was struck as if by lightning. The immense blow left him pale-faced, nearly collapsing to the ground.

But the footsteps from the first floor snapped him back to reality. He had no time to grieve; he had to escape quickly.

Seeing someone chasing him downstairs, he gritted his teeth and ran upstairs.

Pei Siyue emerged from the office on the top floor of the club with his secretary Jiang Wu. Just as they were about to take the elevator to leave, they heard an unusual noise coming from the door of the emergency exit.

Normally, the emergency exits in the clubhouse are always guarded by security personnel or staff, and they are not allowed to be used by others unless there is an emergency. Although the person guarding the top-floor emergency exit had been sent away because Pei Siyue needed to discuss matters with Chi Heng, the eldest son of the Chi family, there should still be someone guarding the other floors, and no one should be allowed to run through the emergency exits…

Jiang Wu was afraid something might happen, so he protected Pei Siyue as he walked to the side, holding the electric baton in front of him.

The door to the emergency exit was opened, and Jiang Wu was surprised to see that the person coming out of the emergency exit was an omega who didn’t look like he was even an adult yet.

Moreover, this omega seemed to have unstable pheromones and was in heat. As an alpha, Jiang Wu could smell the strong omega pheromones in the air.

It was lily of the valley.

The omega lifted his face, pure, beautiful, and alluring.

In the past, Jiang Wu had found it hard to imagine these three qualities coexisting in one person, but seeing this omega made him understand.

The omega was very beautiful, with large almond-shaped eyes filled with shimmering tears, and lips as pink and plump as ripe cherries. His appearance should have been extremely delicate, but at this moment, the faint blush on his cheeks and the passionate redness at the corners of his eyes added a touch of allure.

The omega’s cherry lips parted unconsciously, breathing softly. His originally clear eyes stared blankly at them, misty with a hint of longing.

Ruan Shuyang stumbled to the top floor, looking helplessly at the two alphas in front of him.

Running all the way here had pushed him to his limits; his body, consumed by passion, could no longer stand, and his legs gave way, causing him to stumble.

Just as Jiang Wu hesitated, unsure whether to help or step aside, he noticed that Pei Siyue, who had been sheltered behind him, had somehow already moved to his side and caught the falling Omega.

Ruan Shuyang collided into the arms of a stranger alpha. His first reaction was how cold it felt, as if he had been thrown into icy water. He shivered involuntarily, clutching the alpha’s clothes and murmuring unconsciously, “It’s so cold.”

Jiang Wu saw Pei Siyue holding the person and immediately stood beside him cautiously, reminding him, “Young Master.”

Pei Siyue looked down at the omega in his arms. In fact, he had recognized the omega’s identity at first glance.

Before returning to the country, he had investigated everyone in the Pei family, including those with close ties to them.

Enigma had an impressive IQ and memory; he could recall everyone’s information at a glance. He knew that the omega in his arms was Ruan Shuyang, who had recently become engaged to his half-brother Pei Siming.

He gripped Ruan Shuyang’s chin, about to ask something, but felt the small omega in his arms shiver involuntarily and mutter, “It’s so cold.”

Pei Siyue narrowed his eyes slightly, studying Ruan Shuyang.

As the Enigma standing at the pinnacle of the hierarchy, his pheromone level surpasses that of ordinary alphas and omegas. He is naturally immune to omega pheromones and can suppress all alpha pheromones.

Under normal circumstances, the omega in front of him should feel nothing, but this particular omega not only felt something—he felt cold.

Only when he was in a bad mood did his pheromones become icy, and the events that had just unfolded had indeed put him in a foul mood.

This was the first time an omega had been able to perceive his pheromones before he had even released them.
