Chapter 41

Xia Tianshui quickly obtained the list of candidates for the Miss Hong Kong pageant in 1989. However, the picture she sent to Xia Leyang was heavily pixelated, making it impossible to see anything clearly.

“Have you decided?” Xia Tianshui asked leisurely, “Come out with me tomorrow to take a few pictures, and I’ll send you the original later.”

Xia Leyang hesitated for a long time, even searched on Baidu for methods to remove pixelation from images. But in the end, he gave in and had to sacrifice Shang Tingzhi to obtain the list of candidates from Xia Tianshui.

Shang Tingzhi didn’t mind at all and readily agreed to Xia Tianshui’s request.

On that day, Shang Tingzhi put on a casual suit, his long legs wrapped in trousers, and the faint outline of his chest muscles made the ordinary white shirt incredibly appealing. He neatly combed the stray hair in front of his forehead back and even sprayed on a hint of cologne.

As soon as Xia Leyang saw Shang Tingzhi’s appearance, he frowned, feeling a surge of frustration in his heart, unable to express it.

Just going out casually to take some photos for a date, why did he have to make it look like a model shoot?

Shang Tingzhi took out a million-dollar watch from the drawer and put it on his wrist. Xia Leyang sourly remarked, “Are you really going on a date?”

“Yeah,” Shang Tingzhi said lightly, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been on one.”

“Have you forgotten about the disasters from your previous dates?” Xia Leyang once again displayed his annoyingly persistent spirit and brought up Shang Tingzhi’s past, “Your fate with girls isn’t friendly. What if my sister encounters mishaps like getting her heel stuck in a manhole cover or her skirt blown up by the wind?”

“It won’t happen,” Shang Tingzhi said, adjusting his collar in front of the mirror, “I’ll take care of her.”

With such a boyfriend-material statement, Xia Leyang felt even more sour inside, as if there was a juicer constantly squeezing lemon juice in his heart.

Shang Tingzhi’s aura hadn’t dissipated yet, and Xia Leyang couldn’t stay too far away from him, or who knows what might happen. So even though Xia Leyang felt extremely sour, reluctant, and unhappy, he could only follow behind Shang Tingzhi and Xia Tianshui, watching the two of them chatting and laughing during their date.

Xia Leyang knew that Xia Tianshui had arranged familiar media reporters to follow them. He bought a cup of milk tea, bit the straw, lowered his sunglasses, and looked around the mall. In no time, he spotted someone carrying a big camera.

“Hey,” Xia Leyang ran up behind the person, tapping him on the shoulder, “Are you the reporter my sister hired?”

The reporter guy was startled for a moment but quickly reacted, “You’re Xia Leyang, Xia Tianshui’s brother, right?”

Unlike Xia Tianshui, Xia Leyang rarely appeared in the public eye and could be considered one of the most mysterious rich second generations in Rui City. He arrogantly pushed his sunglasses up with his middle finger, gesturing instead of answering.

The reporter guy had good professional ethics and quickly picked up his camera to aim at Xia Leyang’s face, but unfortunately, he was using a telephoto lens to “spy” on Xia Tianshui and Shang Tingzhi, so Xia Leyang standing so close caused the focus to be off.

But it didn’t matter. The reporter guy quickly took out his phone, intending to at least take a few shots with his phone. However, Xia Leyang calmly held his hand, pursed his lips, and gestured towards the camera, indicating, “Show me the pictures you just took of them.”

Xia Leyang spoke with the air of someone who had seen the world. Just like how Liu Defa had been unconsciously led by Xia Leyang’s words before, the reporter guy obediently handed the camera to Xia Leyang.

In the photos, Shang Tingzhi and Xia Tianshuiwere walking intimately together, and there were even a few photos of them holding hands.

Although the hand-holding photos were obviously staged and there were only a few of them, Xia Leyang still wanted to delete all of these photos.

Seeing Xia Leyang’s thumb hovering over the delete button, the reporter guy felt something was wrong and quickly took the camera back.

“Um, are you following your sister?” the reporter guy asked.

“I’m supervising them,” Xia Leyang said as he sipped his milk tea.

“Are you afraid your sister will be taken advantage of?” the reporter guy chuckled, “Who would dare take advantage of Miss Xia?”

Xia Leyang didn’t respond, thinking that he was afraid Shang Tingzhi would be taken advantage of by this scum, Xia Tianshui.

The reporter guy picked up his camera and followed the footsteps of Xia Tianshui and Shang Tingzhi, continuing to take pictures of their date, while Xia Leyang did nothing, simply tagging along with the reporter guy.

“They look so fake,” Xia Leyang sucked on his empty milk tea cup, making a clinking sound, “Clearly not a couple.”

“What does that matter?” the reporter guy snapped photos while chatting with Xia Leyang, “What do you think I do? I’m a professional paparazzo! Not all couples can be made to look like couples.”

Huh, so professional.

Xia Leyang frowned, feeling a newfound respect for the reporter guy.

After less than half an hour of sneaking shots, Xia Tianshui hurried back to the company to handle business. After hastily greeting Xia Leyang, she and the reporter guy disappeared from their sight.

Shang Tingzhi glanced at his wristwatch and saw that it was almost noon, then asked Xia Leyang, “What do you want to eat?”

Xia Leyang snorted lightly, feeling quite fed up. What’s the point of eating when he’s already fed up? He turned his head aside. “Not hungry.”

“Not hungry?” Shang Tingzhi raised an eyebrow.

“Not hungry!” Xia Leyang said, heading towards the exit of the mall. Shang Tingzhi reached out with a long arm, wrapped his neck, and pulled him back.

“I dressed up carefully all morning, and you’re not giving me face like this?” Shang Tingzhi said.

“What does your dressing up have to do with me?” Xia Leyang said unhappily, “You’re just making yourself look good for photos.”

“Who said that?” Shang Tingzhi sighed helplessly, took Xia Leyang’s hand, and walked upstairs, “I dressed up for our date.”

Yes, Xia Leyang’s current identity was Shang Tingzhi’s dear little boyfriend. After the two confirmed their relationship, they hadn’t officially gone on a date yet.

For the sake of physical pleasure, Xia Leyang yielded to Shang Tingzhi’s desires and reluctantly agreed to date him.

However, after they confirmed their relationship, Xia Leyang became much more obedient. He no longer eagerly sought mutual assistance during their nightly activities, nor did he dare to initiate attacks on Shang Tingzhi’s “big bird” without permission.

In the end, it was all out of fear. Xia Leyang had never thought about taking things further before. He had no reservations about helping each other out, and he even took the initiative to seduce Shang Tingzhi while pretending to be a cute little cat.

Looking back now, he was incredibly naive, stepping into the trap set by Shang Tingzhi step by step.

Anyway, now he dared not take the initiative anymore because his daisy was already on the verge of blooming. The female ghost sister scolded him for being useless, leaving a delicious stick untouched. It’s not that he didn’t want to, but he just wasn’t mentally prepared yet.

“Who wants to date you?” Xia Leyang snorted, trying to suppress the upward curve of his mouth. It had to be said that Shang Tingzhi was really handsome, and having such a boyfriend made him look extra good, so his resentment towards Xia Tianshuiwas not without reason.

The two had lunch on the top floor of the mall and then, like any other couple, went to the cinema to watch a movie.

Shang Tingzhi had prepared in advance, summarizing the plots of all the movies currently showing and telling them to Xia Leyang one by one to let him choose.

If the female ghost sister were present, she would definitely mock Shang Tingzhi for being in his first relationship and acting like a rookie.

But fortunately, Xia Leyang was also in his first relationship. He didn’t think Shang Tingzhi was inexperienced. Instead, he felt very at ease with him.

Xia Leyang liked watching old movies and wasn’t very interested in new ones. However, since watching movies was one of the activities for couples, he chose a suitable horror movie for their date.

Shang Tingzhi bought tickets for the VIP couple’s theater, where the leather sofas felt like beds, creating a thick atmosphere of ambiguity.

The other couples in the theater were all mixed-gender pairs, but Shang Tingzhi and Xia Leyang, two big men, didn’t avoid the eyes of others. They cuddled together to watch the movie.

Xia Leyang didn’t need to be said. Having stayed abroad for so long, he never thought that being gay was something to hide.

As for Shang Tingzhi, with money and power, he didn’t care how others viewed him.

The horror movie was quite well-made. Xia Leyang thought that after hanging out with the female ghost sister for so long, he shouldn’t be afraid of ghosts anymore. However, he didn’t expect the ghost in the movie to be much scarier than his sister, and every time she appeared, Xia Leyang would be so scared that he would burrow into Shang Tingzhi’s arms.

“So scary,” Xia Leyang snuggled against Shang Tingzhi’s shoulder, whispering, “Did the director ever see a ghost? Why did he make it like this?”

Shang Tingzhi found it funny. Just as the ghost in the movie was about to appear again, he covered Xia Leyang’s eyes with his hand and then leaned down to kiss Xia Leyang’s lips.

Xia Leyang’s heart was racing, and there were still other people in the theater. Although others might not be watching them, he still felt like they were having an affair. All his senses were amplified, and even the intensity of their kiss soared.

When the movie ended, the lights in the theater came on.

Xia Leyang, blushing, walked hand in hand with Shang Tingzhi towards the exit. As they passed another couple, Xia Leyang faintly heard the man in the couple say, “Two men, disgusting.”

Xia Leyang’s temper flared up instantly. He turned around abruptly and retorted, “What’s it to you?”

The man didn’t say anything more, but there was a hint of disdain on his face, as if he had seen something dirty.

Xia Leyang had originally wanted to say a few more words, but at this moment, Shang Tingzhi let go of his hand and instead embraced him, saying to the man, “If you can’t stand it, you can rent out the entire theater.”

After saying that, Shang Tingzhi hugged Xia Leyang and continued walking forward, lowering his head to say to him, “Don’t be angry. How about I buy the theater next time?”

“Okay,” Xia Leyang immediately agreed. Buying a movie theater was a small matter for their family. “We can put up a sign saying that people who badmouth others aren’t allowed in.”

Shang Tingzhi chuckled and ruffled Xia Leyang’s head, holding his hand and continuing forward.

There were voices behind them cursing them for being pretentious, but the woman seemed unwilling to cause trouble and pulled the man, saying, “Didn’t you see what watch they were wearing? Mind your own business!”

The rest of the date went smoothly without encountering anyone like that again. Instead, there were many young girls on the street staring at them. Xia Leyang always felt that these young girls were coveting their family’s wealth, so wherever they went, he strutted like a little cock, holding Shang Tingzhi proudly.

After a day of dating, when they returned to Gu’s mansion, it was already late at night. Xia Leyang wasn’t tired at all. While washing up, he reported today’s itinerary to the female ghost sister, even detailing how many times they held hands.

The female ghost sister yawned several times. She wasn’t a professional in dog food romance, and she let out several yawns in a row.

Xia Leyang is the typical type who, once in a relationship, wants the whole world to know how great he and his boyfriend are. The female ghost sister couldn’t be bothered to listen and asked directly, “So, have you two slept together yet?”

Originally enthusiastic, Xia Leyang immediately replied dryly, “N-no, not yet.”

The female ghost waved her hand dismissively and returned to the bathtub. “Then what’s the point of talking?”

No matter how fierce Xia Leyang could argue outside, he could never win against the female ghost. He returned to bed feeling aggrieved and nestled into Shang Tingzhi’s arms, seeking comfort.

Shang Tingzhi naturally hugged him and asked, “What’s the excuse today?”

In fact, they had been in a relationship for several days now and still hadn’t done it, all because Xia Leyang came up with strange excuses every day. Shang Tingzhi wasn’t in a hurry; he was patient by nature, and he didn’t believe Xia Leyang could be more stable than him.

After some contemplation, Xia Leyang lifted his head and looked at Shang Tingzhi. “I checked the almanac today, and it said it’s not suitable for intercourse.”

“Heh.” Shang Tingzhi faintly smiled. “I checked it long ago; it says it’s favorable for the next few days.”
