Lin Yushu leaned against the sofa, trying to retreat, but he couldn’t break free from Song Qiming’s grasp.
With the sturdy chest right in front of him, he suppressed the urge to touch and frowned at Song Qiming. “Let go of me.”
“If you ever say that you belong to Shao Guangjie again,” Song Qiming still held onto Lin Yushu’s waist, “I’ll get angry.”
Lin Yushu found it incredibly puzzling. How could this person have such a possessive nature towards a business partner?
It seemed like he genuinely disliked Shao Guangjie and didn’t want to lose even a fraction.
“I understand,” Lin Yushu released his tension and calmly said, “Then let’s establish four rules.”
“Four rules?” Song Qiming raised an eyebrow.
“The fourth one is: Don’t touch me.” Lin Yushu pushed away from Song Qiming’s shoulders. “Let go.”
“I’m actually curious,” Song Qiming tilted his head slightly, his hand remaining motionless, “What would you do if I violated the agreement? For example, if I touched you,” his hand that had been wrapped around Lin Yushu’s waist finally let go, but it landed on his buttocks, “like this, what would you do?”
His buttocks were enclosed by a large hand, leaving Lin Yushu completely dumbfounded. What was this person doing?
“I can see that you’re not very angry,” Song Qiming blinked and squeezed his hand firmly.
Only then did Lin Yushu react, and a surge of anger rushed to his head. “Song Qiming!”
To his surprise, Song Qiming, as if he had prepared for it in advance, immediately retracted his hand, holding it up in a surrendering gesture. “I’m sorry, I’ll reflect on it.”
“You!” The apology came too quickly, and Lin Yushu glared at Song Qiming. The anger was stuck in his throat, and he couldn’t find a way to express it.
“Don’t be angry,” Song Qiming said, “I’ll help you modify your car.”
“Modify my car?” The topic shifted too quickly, and Lin Yushu’s anger couldn’t keep up. He looked at Song Qiming with confusion, temporarily putting the incident of being taken advantage of aside.
“I noticed last time when I drove your car that the steering felt a bit loose,” Song Qiming sat cross-legged, looking like an honest person. “Don’t you want to improve it?”
Very well, Lin Yushu realized that Song Qiming was trying to manipulate him again.
He had already figured out how to apologize while touching his butt, which was why he touched so unreservedly.
Is Lin Yushu someone so easy to manipulate?
He pursed his lips, and the words of refusal were already on the tip of his tongue, but what came out was, “Then make it better for me.”
Damn it, he had no spine.
Perhaps his fierce expression and the words he said didn’t match at all, and Song Qiming burst into laughter. “Why are you so cute?”
Lin Yushu also disliked himself for being so easily manipulated by Song Qiming, but what could he do?
The loose steering was caused by various factors, including chassis aging, and even Lu Zibo’s modification shop couldn’t completely solve the problem. Lin Yushu could only adapt to it.
But now, when a world-class automotive engineer offered to modify his car, how could he refuse?
Even if he wanted to refuse, his beloved car would definitely disagree.
“Don’t think that I have no principles,” Lin Yushu furrowed his brow, trying to find some consolation. “It’s just that I don’t want to argue with you.”
“Sure, sure, I won’t argue with you,” Song Qiming’s lips still carried a smile, “Can I touch you again? The feeling was quite good.”
Lin Yushu: “?”
“Joking,” Song Qiming seemed to know that it was dangerous to hover on the edge of death, so he stood up sensibly and said, “It’s getting late, see you tomorrow.”
As he left Lin Yushu’s house, Song Qiming took only five steps before returning to his own doorstep. However, as soon as he opened the door, he heard the sound of a door opening behind him.
“Take this away.” Lin Yushu took a few steps forward and stuffed the plate of pizza back into Song Qiming’s hands. “It’s disgustingly bad.”
With that, Lin Yushu turned around and went back into his own house.
Wowo poked his head out from the door crack, looking at Lin Yushu’s house and then at Song Qiming, with big question marks in his small eyes.
“He’s quite interesting,” Song Qiming lightly curved his lips and patted Wowo’s head. “How about I find you a mom?”
The next day was Tuesday, and Lin Yushu went to work at the company as usual.
Just as he arrived in the underground parking lot after taking the elevator downstairs, he saw a familiar figure standing beside his Civic.
“I have a license plate restriction today,” Song Qiming stood lazily with his hands in his pockets, waiting by the passenger seat. “Give me a ride.”
“You want to ride in my car?” Lin Yushu frowned at Song Qiming. “Are you afraid that others won’t know we live together?”
A hint of amusement appeared in Song Qiming’s eyes. “We live together?”
“No, we agreed just yesterday to avoid suspicion,” Lin Yushu opened the door of the Civic. “Can you be a bit more self-aware?”
He thought that by saying that, Song Qiming wouldn’t get in the car. But as soon as Lin Yushu sat in the driver’s seat, Song Qiming also got in on the other side.
“You can park the car in a place where there are no colleagues,” Song Qiming said nonchalantly. “I don’t believe you can’t even handle such a small matter.”
Men couldn’t be provoked.
Lin Yushu really wanted to kick Song Qiming out, but doing so would make him appear spineless.
He was in the process of building up his mental fortitude when he heard Song Qiming say again, “Your car has a license plate restriction tomorrow. You can ride in my car.”
Every Wednesday, Lin Yushu took the subway to work.
He had considered buying another car to alternate driving, but it seemed like a waste to have a car just for one day of the week.
He had also thought about getting an unrestricted electric car, but he couldn’t bear to part with his Civic, which had been with him for many years. So he endured the inconvenience caused by the license plate restriction.
But if he could carpool with Song Qiming, it would be convenient for both of them.
“I’ll emphasize it again,” Lin Yushu started the Civic and reluctantly agreed to Song Qiming riding in his car. “Once we’re in the company, you’re not allowed to talk to me.”
Song Qiming fastened his seatbelt and lazily replied, “Sure.”
Lin Yushu was never late for work, and often arrived early.
But even if he arrived early, there would still be people at the company. So he didn’t dare park the car in his usual spot and instead drove around to the negative third floor.
There were hardly any cars on the negative third floor, and there was no need to worry about being seen.
After locking the car, Lin Yushu and Song Qiming walked towards the elevator, continuing their conversation along the way. “You should try to appear in public more often.”
Song Qiming didn’t respond, he pressed the up button and focused on the elevator display.
“There are no colleagues around now,” Lin Yushu glanced around. “You can talk to me.”
“Then you should change your rules,” Song Qiming spoke nonchalantly. “What do you mean by not talking in the company?”
Lin Yushu suddenly realized that although Song Qiming understood his concerns, he had some grievances about this agreement.
Even though there was no one around now and they could talk, he pretended not to hear.
“Like a dog trying to spite its owner,” Lin Yushu mused. “I’m afraid you won’t follow the rules. After all, you’re not one to stick to the conventional.”
“I know I need to appear more often,” Song Qiming continued the conversation from earlier. “I’ll prepare well for the S-power press conference.”
“The secret to boosting stock prices is being able to tell a compelling story,” Lin Yushu said as the elevator doors opened. He stepped in first. “Let me see the script for the press conference once you’ve finished writing it.”
Song Qiming followed and stood next to Lin Yushu. “How about you help me write it?”
“Why should I help you write it?” Lin Yushu pressed the floor button. “That’s your job.”
“But I’m not good at Chinese,” Song Qiming pouted. “I hate writing compositions.”
“That’s still your job,” Lin Yushu, being a manager, couldn’t fathom doing menial tasks for others. “Once you’re done writing, I can review it for you.”
“Fine,” Song Qiming replied dejectedly.
“After the press conference, the company’s stock price should experience a small increase,” Lin Yushu continued. “I estimate it could rise by more than 2%.”
“And if it doesn’t rise?” Song Qiming asked.
In reality, Lin Yushu wasn’t entirely certain either. He based his judgment on the stock price rise after the acquisition, assuming that the market would have a positive outlook on Song Qiming.
Just as the elevator reached the negative first floor, several familiar faces entered. Lin Yushu decided not to continue the conversation.
However, for Song Qiming, those familiar faces were just ordinary strangers.
“Just in case, you should write it for me—” Song Qiming’s words were cut off because Lin Yushu quickly spotted Zhan Ting entering the elevator. Without hesitation, Lin Yushu pinched Song Qiming’s waist hard.
The firm muscle felt good, comparable to a sturdy chest.
Song Qiming immediately frowned, unhappy with the gesture. But Lin Yushu couldn’t care less and greeted Zhan Ting, “Manager Zhan.”
“Manager Lin,” Zhan Ting also noticed Lin Yushu and asked curiously, “Did you park your car downstairs today?”
“Yes,” Lin Yushu replied. “It’s more spacious down there.”
Zhan Ting didn’t say anything more. As an employee of the family office, she instinctively remained cautious around Song Qiming.
The elevator continued its ascent, with people coming and going. By the time it reached the executive office floor, only the three of them remained inside.
Lin Yushu and Zhan Ting walked out of the elevator, chatting and laughing as they headed towards the family office. Song Qiming’s office was in the opposite direction, so Lin Yushu didn’t pay him any further attention.
As they walked, Lin Yushu’s phone suddenly vibrated. He took it out and saw a message from Song Qiming.
[Song Qiming: You pinched me so hard, it hurts.]
[Song Qiming: Wowo is frowning.jpg]
Where does he get so many Wowo emojis?
Engrossed in conversation with Zhan Ting, Lin Yushu quickly replied to the message while keeping up with the conversation.
[Lin Yushu: Focus on work.]
In the afternoon, Lin Yushu planned to visit Green Cedar Capital, but he didn’t feel like going out for lunch. So, as usual, he went to the company cafeteria at the usual time.
He arrived quite early, and the cafeteria wasn’t crowded, so he didn’t have to wait in line.
Some familiar colleagues greeted Lin Yushu, but when it came time to find a seat, no one sat with him.
This was normal since Lin Yushu was an “external personnel” of Yong Xing and someone who worked closely with the boss. It was unlikely for regular employees to want to eat and chat with him.
However, not everyone in the cafeteria was a regular employee.
Just as Lin Yushu found an empty seat and sat down with his tray, he noticed Song Qiming entering the cafeteria. And not long after that…
Song Qiming sat down across from him with his own tray.
As the company’s most high-profile new employee, Song Qiming attracted attention wherever he went.
Curious colleagues cast inquisitive glances, and Lin Yushu looked at Song Qiming puzzled, using his eyes to remind him: What are you doing? Weren’t you supposed to avoid suspicion?
However, Song Qiming ignored Lin Yushu’s gaze and kept looking at his phone screen.
In the next moment, Lin Yushu’s phone vibrated.
[Song Qiming: I’m not talking to you.]
[Song Qiming: I haven’t violated any agreement.]
Lin Yushu sighed and began typing with a headache.
[Lin Yushu: What’s the difference now? You’re acting the same way.]
[Song Qiming: Wowo, just a little bit.jpg]
Lin Yushu: “…”
Finally, he understood why Song Qiming’s family dog was so rebellious.
Apparently, his father had the same temperament.
