Chapter 27
Shen Yuzhe’s brain was somewhat frozen, “I sleep fine here…”
Unexpectedly, Kai came towards him without a word, grabbing his arm in an attempt to drag him upstairs.
Shen Yuzhe had been stuck in the tower for these past few days, with no progress in his investigation and inquiries. He was already feeling frustrated. Kai’s inexplicable behavior only added to his irritation. He thought about the misunderstanding with Joe earlier in the day and all the compromises he had made over the past few days, and his patience had run thin.
“What are you doing!?” Shen Yuzhe’s face flushed with anger as he forcefully opened the other man’s grip.
Kai’s eyebrows furrowed, seemingly not anticipating Shen Yuzhe’s resistance. He suddenly pushed him down onto the bed.
A sense of danger washed over Shen Yuzhe, and he became even angrier. He had glimpses of Kai’s figure in his mind, but that didn’t mean he could tolerate an unreasonable person endlessly.
He struggled with all his might, desperately trying to break free from Kai’s control. His movements were erratic, and in the heat of the moment, a thought flashed through his mind. He didn’t even know what he was thinking, but he raised his knee and fiercely thrust it upward!
Kai, caught off guard, was struck in a vulnerable area and let out a stifled groan, his throat emitting a low noise.
He didn’t retreat but was instead infuriated by this sudden attack. In an instant, he lost control, capturing Shen Yuzhe’s arm and pressing him down while preparing to strike with a clenched fist.
Shen Yuzhe, alarmed, closed his eyes involuntarily and tensed his muscles. He felt threatened; Kai seemed intent on killing him.
In the nick of time, Kai stopped his fist.
He stared at Shen Yuzhe with a grim expression, a mix of burning anger and faint reason swirling in his mind. This person had a familiar scent he couldn’t ignore.
But this man was so despicable. He didn’t listen, wanted to leave, and even dared to kick him where it hurt the most.
The emotions of violence surged within him, unable to be released but also impossible to suppress. They transformed into an intense desire for dominance.
Kai, with a flash of insight, lowered himself onto Shen Yuzhe’s body, still holding him tightly, and sank into the pleasure of dominance. He had never experienced anything like it.
…Won’t be staying here forever?
No, he would never let him go again.
After what seemed like an eternity, Kai finally regained his senses. He loosened his grip slightly but continued to hold Shen Yuzhe, reveling in the feeling of control and not wanting to let go.
Shen Yuzhe, recovering from the shock, began to struggle again.
“What do you want? Are you really going to do that to me?” His face turned pale from anger, his voice trembling. He had misunderstood Kai’s actions. “I know you’re strong, and you can easily overpower me, but you have to understand, I’m a person, not a mindless animal! I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you, and if you force me to do that, I will hate you…”
As he reached the end of his sentence, weariness crept into Shen Yuzhe’s voice.
Because he knew that a threat like “I will hate you” might be useless against Kai. Currently, Kai had no emotions; he was just a cold-blooded beast.
Could memory loss really change a person to this extent? Shen Yuzhe remembered that when he thought of Kai, he was filled with softness and longing, but the man before him now felt like a stranger, irritating him.
However, when Kai heard those words, he felt a sudden panic in his heart, unlike the challenge to his authority that Shen Yuzhe had posed earlier. This panic was about something he couldn’t control: the fear of losing.
Kai relaxed his grip a little, still dazedly expressing his thoughts, “I just wanted you to stay by my side.”
Shen Yuzhe was taken aback, completely surprised that his threat had worked.
Instinctively, he asked, “Why?”
Kai replied out of habit, “I’m familiar with your scent.” Or rather, he liked the scent on Shen Yuzhe.
But the exact answer didn’t matter. After hearing this sentence, Shen Yuzhe suddenly saw through several things that had puzzled him before, such as why Kai had come close to sniff him repeatedly, and why Kai’s sense of smell was so keen, probably trying to discern something.
“Why didn’t you say so before?” Shen Yuzhe’s eyes brightened a bit, but given Kai’s cold personality, he didn’t expect him to answer this question. Instead, he explained, “I decided to stay and get close to you on my own. You know, I thought you might be my brother.”
Unlike before, Shen Yuzhe’s tone was more relaxed now.
Kai immediately rejected it, saying, “I can’t be your brother.”
Shen Yuzhe was puzzled, “Why are you so sure?”
Kai frowned, “Instinct.”
Just the thought of “brother” seemed to trigger an inexplicable aversion in Kai, as if he had a deep-rooted disgust for this kind of blood relationship.
Shen Yuzhe felt helpless; if he wasn’t a brother, fine, but they were very likely acquaintances, right?
However, Kai, in such close proximity, lying on top of him, made Shen Yuzhe uncomfortable. He couldn’t help but push Kai’s arm, which was pressing against him, and said, “Do we have to have this conversation in this position? Can you let go of me first?”
“No,” Kai’s refusal was still resolute and domineering. He seemed to remember how Shen Yuzhe had deceived Little Wolf, making him wary of this smooth-talking guy. It was as if he wanted to lock Shen Yuzhe in a cage himself.
Shen Yuzhe’s headache returned, and the area on his neck that had been bitten was throbbing. He couldn’t forget that Kai had almost attacked him just moments ago.
“But I’m uncomfortable like this,” Shen Yuzhe said helplessly.
Perhaps his tone sounded somewhat weak, as Kai hesitated for a moment and then moved to the side.
Kai looked at the bloody wound on Shen Yuzhe’s neck and furrowed his brow, asking, “Where’s the medicine?”
Shen Yuzhe reached for it on his body—the small bottle containing the yellow powder. He had deliberately kept it close.
Just as he was about to apply it himself, Kai snatched it away and opened the lid, pouring out about half of it onto his hand, then began to apply it to Shen Yuzhe’s neck.
“Ah…” Shen Yuzhe winced, more from Kai’s rough handling than the pain of the injury, which he found out quickly.
Kai eased his touch a bit, but his expression remained impatient.
Shen Yuzhe was at a loss. He couldn’t figure out if Kai cared about him or not anymore.
“In a while, come upstairs with me,” Kai said as he continued to threaten, showing his stubbornness in personality.
Having learned his lesson from earlier, Shen Yuzhe had some sense now and realized that this guy responded better to diplomacy than confrontation.
“Sure, but can you tell me what we’re going upstairs for?” Shen Yuzhe remained cautious. “It’s not… that kind of thing, is it?”
“No!” Kai was getting frustrated with Shen Yuzhe repeatedly asking the same question. “I won’t do that! I’m the one in control here, so what if I want to?”
However, despite his thoughts, he remembered Shen Yuzhe’s previous threat, and he didn’t dare to do anything rash. Very few people had pushed him to this point of being cautious and hesitant.
“I just want you to sleep next to me,” Kai said.
Shen Yuzhe didn’t understand. He couldn’t fathom why Kai, even if he was familiar with his scent, would be so nervous that he needed Shen Yuzhe to sleep next to him.
After applying the medicine, Kai spotted a nearby first aid kit that Shen Yuzhe had left. He grabbed a roll of bandage and started wrapping it around Shen Yuzhe’s neck. His movements were skilled, as if he had done this many times before.
While doing so, Kai continued, “As long as you stay by my side, I won’t do that kind of thing.”
This statement reminded Shen Yuzhe of something he had said to Kai earlier in the evening. He inwardly sighed, wondering if Kai had misunderstood that phrase.
Shen Yuzhe immediately clarified, “When I said, ‘I won’t be here forever’ earlier, I meant that I wanted to escape from the Zois Club and the control of the giants, not that I wanted to leave you…”
Kai’s movements halted for a moment, and his expression visibly softened.
Realizing that he had guessed correctly, Shen Yuzhe continued, “In fact, I had thought that if we could recognize each other, we could plan to escape together.”
Kai narrowed his eyes and asked, “Escape?”
“Yes,” Shen Yuzhe boldly revealed his plan because he was sure Kai wouldn’t betray him. Kai didn’t want him to leave, so they would definitely be on the same side.
Moreover, Shen Yuzhe had observed Kai during these days and had come to the conclusion that Kai didn’t like the giants, nor did he enjoy being this “King.” He just wanted to avoid trouble and conflict, resolving everything quickly and then hiding in the tower.
Kai, realizing the seriousness of this topic, said, “Let’s talk upstairs.”
Shen Yuzhe still couldn’t understand why Kai was so persistent, even after he had explained everything.
In the end, Shen Yuzhe compromised and went upstairs with Kai.
But as he sat on the large cushion, he still felt tense, especially with Kai sitting down right next to him.
However, as soon as they settled down, Kai poured cold water on Shen Yuzhe’s hopes by saying, “With our current abilities, it’s almost impossible to escape from here, unless…”
As soon as Shen Yuzhe heard that there might be a chance, he immediately asked, “Unless what?”
Kai looked at Shen Yuzhe with a meaningful gaze and said, “Your powers awaken.”
