Chapter 12

“Feng, Feng?” After sending away two attendants, Shangguan Ye saw Murong QIufeng seeming absent-minded, and couldn’t help but smirk. He was in an extremely good mood, finding it adorable to see this usually composed person looking so distracted. For some reason, he felt quite amused.

“Be careful.” Murong Qiufeng was pondering how to turn his sister’s situation into something positive when he suddenly heard Shangguan Ye calling out. Turning his head in a daze, he was abruptly pushed from behind, causing his entire body to stagger in a certain direction, and his nose bumped into something hard, causing it to ache.

He quickly looked up, only to see Shangguan Ye also looking down at him, with a hint of concern in his eyes as he softly asked, “What’s wrong? Did you hurt yourself?” As he spoke, he naturally pinched his nose.

Shangguan Ye’s voice was that kind of low, magnetic tone typical of mature men. Even when speaking softly, it sounded deep, but the deliberate low tone carried a sexy tenderness. With his actions, Murong Qiufeng suddenly felt bewildered, his eyes widened, and he seemed still dazed.

Seeing those widened eyes, slightly parted lips, and bewildered expression, although he was already an eighteen-year-old young man with some maturity in his appearance, he still hadn’t fully matured. Like a fruit on the verge of ripening, not yet fully matured, but with enough allure.

As he held him in his arms, Shangguan Ye had an impulse to not let go, even feeling like kissing those slightly parted lips. But he knew it wasn’t the right time yet, so he just steadied him, then naturally pulled away, teasingly patting his shoulder. “Are you reluctant to go out with me? You’ve been so absent-minded.”

Murong Qiufeng snapped out of it, feeling somewhat embarrassed but didn’t think too much about it. In his mind, no matter how intimate two men were, he wouldn’t think of it the way Shangguan Ye might. He could only think that Shangguan Ye was just friendly and caring, like an elder brother.

Murong Qiufeng had always been frail since childhood, his illness stemming from the womb. Before the age of thirteen, he had been like a medicine jar, confined to his small courtyard every day. So few people knew about Murong’s sixth son, except for his twin sister and mother. He rarely interacted with his siblings, not even seeing his father frequently.

It wasn’t until he was thirteen that he accidentally met his senior martial brother and was taken up the mountain for medical treatment. He then became a disciple and lived on the mountain, where he was closest to his master and those senior martial siblings.

Shangguan Ye gave him the same feeling as his caring senior martial brother, so his embarrassment was only due to his own rudeness.

“Sorry, I was just thinking about Yun’er.” He explained nervously, forgetting his usual distant self-address.

Seeing that he hadn’t misunderstood anything, Shangguan Ye breathed a sigh of relief but also felt a bit disappointed. It seemed this kid’s thoughts were too pure and simple. “Don’t worry, I’ve already ordered someone to go to the palace and fetch the royal physician.”

He reached out, wanting to touch his hair, but then changed his mind and patted his shoulder instead, offering comfort.

Murong Qiufeng was taken aback for a moment, then sighed, thought for a moment, and spoke again, looking at Shangguan Ye with a hint of trepidation. “Your Highness, I have a question. I wonder if Your Highness can answer truthfully.”

Hearing his distant tone again, Shangguan Ye sighed inwardly. It seemed this little guy’s thoughts were indeed too pure and simple. “Ask whatever you want, but let’s find a quieter place to talk first.”

Murong Qiufeng then realized that they were already in the bustling marketplace, surrounded by people coming and going. They had nearly bumped into someone just now.

The two of them casually chose a quieter tavern and requested a private room. Murong Qiufeng insisted on treating, but the guest was still Shangguan Ye, so even if Murong Qiufeng was casual, he wouldn’t forget Shangguan Ye’s status.

“What’s bothering you? Just ask, and if I can answer, I will.” Shangguan Ye poured them both some tea, speaking without any pretense. Although he indeed had a fondness for Murong Qiufeng, it wasn’t yet at the level of complete openness and trust.

Seeing Shangguan Ye’s actions, Murong Qiufeng once again marveled. Despite Shangguan Ye’s fame, power, and high status, he didn’t put on any airs.

“Your Highness, why did you agree to marry my sister?” Murong Qiufeng finally asked, although he already had his own guess, he still wanted to confirm it. If Shangguan Ye’s answer matched his guess, he would definitely try to help them get together.

Shangguan Ye raised an eyebrow, but he didn’t show any displeasure or surprise at this question, instead, he seemed quite satisfied. After a slight pause, he said lightly, “I don’t want to deceive you, but if I tell the truth, you’ll probably be unhappy.”

His answer completely caught Murong Qiufeng off guard. “What… do you mean?”
