The next day, when Zhang Jingrui knocked and entered the boss’s office to deliver lunch, he accidentally discovered his young Omega superior secretly watching Meteor Garden.
Zhang Jingrui’s jaw dropped. Even a Crown Prince-level Omega couldn’t escape being brainwashed by an idol drama??
Could it be… spring had arrived?
Li Xi didn’t notice his assistant’s exasperated expression.
After Zhang Jingrui left with the meal, Li Xi closed the video and opened his lunch box.
Of course, he wasn’t suddenly “smitten” or obsessed with the drama.
While Omega youths swooned over “the domineering young master falls in love with me” fantasy plots, Li Xi’s eyes saw only four oppressors above, and the helpless resistance of those they bullied below.
So Ying Zhiyu decisively chose to take the stairs, and his junior classmates followed.
As they descended from the fifth floor to the fourth,
Ying Zhiyu’s steps suddenly slowed, and he turned his head slightly, as if sensing something, toward the stairwell exit.
The stairwell door faced the library elevator area.
At the fourth-floor stairwell exit, two tall, muscular Alphas now stood on either side of the emergency exit.
Both dressed in sharp suits, standing alert like sentries.
Ying Zhiyu’s gaze passed between them and unexpectedly met a pair of cold, piercing eyes…
It was Li Xi.
Eleven years of marriage separated them. One lifetime of life and death lay between them.
This was Ying Zhiyu’s first face-to-face encounter with Li Xi after his rebirth.
Li Xi was very tall, over 6’1”. Such height stood out even among Alphas, often making other Alphas feel inferior.
Beside him was Ying Zhiyu’s familiar bodyguard, Panda.
In the past eleven years of marriage, Ying Zhiyu had seen Li Xi less often than he had seen Panda.
Frowning slightly, Ying Zhiyu couldn’t recall Li Xi ever appearing at their school at this time in his previous life.
After the “selection” ceremony, Li Xi had waited five months before confronting Ying Zhiyu with a gun at the civil affairs bureau on the second day of the fall semester of his doctoral program.
Though puzzled, Ying Zhiyu stopped at the fourth floor.
A junior almost bumped into him. “Senior—”
Before he could finish, Ying Zhiyu naturally walked toward the stairwell’s emergency exit.
The two Alpha guards, like door gods, seemed to ignore him, letting him pass freely.
But when the juniors instinctively tried to follow, the two burly Alphas blocked them.
“Senior!” the young Alpha called out, shielding the Omega junior behind him. “Who are you? This is the school, you—”
The crowd on the fourth floor of the library looked intimidating. The junior was a bit anxious.
However, Ying Zhiyu, already in the elevator area, turned back.
The Omega junior quietly asked, “Senior, should we call security?”
She understood better than the young Alpha. The person in the elevator area had looked only at their senior, never once at anyone else. Clearly, he had been waiting for Ying Zhiyu.
Yet…
The man exuded a powerful aura, his pheromones cold as ice, completely unfriendly. He seemed more like a challenger than a friend.
Ying Zhiyu shook his head. “No need.”
Then he reached out to the Alpha junior being blocked. “Next time, I’ll ask you.”
The junior paused. After a second, he understood—Ying Zhiyu was asking for the ice cream in his hand.
“Oh, okay.” The junior handed over the still-wrapped ice cream.
Ying Zhiyu nodded in thanks and turned toward the person in the elevator.
The elevator that had been waiting on the fourth floor finally moved.
Ying Zhiyu followed Li Xi inside, and Panda hesitated at the door. After a glance from Li Xi, he stayed outside.
Inside, only the two of them remained.
Li Xi didn’t press any buttons. Ying Zhiyu glanced at them, but instead of acting, he asked casually, “Chocolates or bitter coffee?”
Li Xi stared at him.
Ying Zhiyu met his gaze calmly.
“Chocolates or bitter coffee?” referred to the two ice creams in his hands.
Such a simple question confirmed to Li Xi that Ying Zhiyu’s glance at the one-way glass in the LI lab was no coincidence.
Just as he had seen him in the stairwell, he knew Ying Zhiyu had come looking for him.
Neither had pressed the elevator buttons, but the elevator began moving once the outside call allowed it. Someone downstairs must have called it.
As the elevator neared the first floor, Li Xi finally spoke: “What does ‘enhances husband’s fortune’ mean?”
Hearing this, the young, handsome Alpha smiled faintly.
As if he had expected the question, he replied indirectly: “I even washed my hair that day.”
