Chapter 28

A loud alarm bell rang in Lin Yushu’s mind, accompanied by a severe ringing in his ears and dizziness.

His lips were forcefully sealed, and his protests could only escape weakly from the corners of his mouth. “No… mmm… Song Qiming…”

Ever since Song Qiming had mentioned it, Lin Yushu had been avoiding touching Song Qiming’s chest. But now, he couldn’t care less about that. He forcefully pushed open Song Qiming’s chest with both hands and protested firmly, “Song Qiming, I’m getting angry!”

However, the sound that came out was somewhat hoarse and accompanied by inevitable panting, far from achieving the effect of a stern negotiation.

Their fingers intertwined, and Lin Yushu’s hands were held against his ears as Song Qiming leaned forward again, gently pecking Lin Yushu’s lips. “Why are you angry?”

“Me?” Lin Yushu felt raging anger, nearly spitting fire, “I’m talking to you about Yu Xiu, can you understand the situation?”

“Yu Xiu?” A question mark appeared over Song Qiming’s head.

“The lead actor in this movie,” Lin Yushu finally found an opportunity, pushed Song Qiming away, and sat up, “Your cousin!”

Song Qiming seemed to finally realize that things were not as he had thought.

He sat back and scratched his cheek with his index finger, a hint of embarrassment flashing across his face. “Weren’t you implying something?”

“I was explicitly telling you that this person is important!”

Even though Lin Yushu knew it was a misunderstanding, he was still very angry, feeling like his first kiss had been ruined by a dog.

What he didn’t expect was that Song Qiming, after a moment of initial embarrassment, not only showed no signs of apology but even blamed him: “You invited me to watch a homosexual movie late at night, and it turns out you want to discuss work?”

Lin Yushu was momentarily choked, staring at Song Qiming. “Why can’t we discuss work at night?”

In fact, Lin Yushu often worked late at night, and he didn’t see any problem with discussing work at that time.

Well, he admitted that perhaps he had chosen the wrong movie.
This movie was Yu Xiu’s masterpiece, and mentioning this movie would naturally make one think of Yu Xiu. Lin Yushu thought Song Qiming would understand.

But he forgot that this German guy didn’t spend much time in China.

Song Qiming wore a speechless expression. “Is there anyone as workaholic as you? Huh, Lin Yushu?”

“You’ve known me for quite a while,” Lin Yushu felt a moment of guilt and opened another can of beer. But suddenly, he thought of something and frowned at Song Qiming, asking, “What was that just now?”

“What do you mean?” Song Qiming also opened a can of beer.

“Skipping the date,” Lin Yushu’s eyes were full of alertness, looking like a hedgehog covered in thorns. “What do you want to do?”

“Just skipping the date,” Song Qiming looked at the TV screen, taking a vague sip of beer. “We already know each other well, so I don’t see any problem with skipping the date.”

“I’m asking,” Lin Yushu’s frown deepened, “if we skip the date, what’s the next step for you?”

If Lin Yushu didn’t misunderstand, in Song Qiming’s understanding, the next step after the date was to go to bed.

He asked Song Qiming to confirm this point, but Song Qiming was obviously avoiding the issue and instead answering why they should skip it.

It was simply a case of not addressing the main point and answering irrelevantly.

The fact was that they hadn’t planned to go on a date in the first place, so how could they skip it?

Even if Lin Yushu had such leisure time, he would first understand Song Qiming’s attitude towards relationships before deciding whether or not to date him.

But Song Qiming, on the other hand, directly took the initiative to skip this step.

“You implied it so clearly,” Song Qiming drank his beer and said, “so don’t blame me for taking the initiative.”

So he really wanted to sleep with Lin Yushu just now.

“Song Qiming,” even though the misunderstanding had been cleared up, Lin Yushu began to feel angry again, “don’t use your playboy tactics on me.”

Song Qiming: “?”

Song Qiming put down the beer and asked with some confusion: “When did I become a playboy?

As he thought about the gossip about Song Qiming in the media, Lin Yushu became even angrier. He said, “I’m different from you. I’m not a casual person.”

Song Qiming: “…”

“I said that I feel we’re compatible, so I don’t want to waste time on dates. I saw that you were implying it, so I thought of saving time for both of us. What’s wrong with that? You’re usually busy too, aren’t you?” Song Qiming’s expression didn’t look good, clearly not pleased with what Lin Yushu said. “I don’t approach people casually. Do you really think I’m indiscriminate?”

“But why do you have the right to skip the steps of dating? In my eyes, that’s being indiscriminate.”

Their tones became somewhat confrontational, as if they were about to argue.

Lin Yushu suddenly remembered how poorly Song Qiming treated that pilot, and with his personality, he would probably turn cold and walk away.

However, after a brief standoff, Song Qiming sighed helplessly and lifted his beer can again. He looked at Lin Yushu and said, “Then shall we start dating tomorrow?”

His tone softened significantly, as if he was saying, “You want to take it slow, then we’ll go at your pace.”

Song Qiming was showing his vulnerability.

Realizing this, Lin Yushu felt somewhat uneasy and averted his gaze. His voice lost the previous momentum as he said, “I’m busy.”

After saying that, he turned his head back to look at Song Qiming and asked, “Do you still want to discuss work?”

Song Qiming seemed at a loss for Lin Yushu’s unpredictable behavior. He pursed his lips and glanced disinterestedly at Yu Xiu on the TV screen. “What did you say this person’s name was?”

“Yu Xiu, the illegitimate child of Shao Hexu.”

Just as the words fell, another passionate scene appeared in the movie.

This time, Lin Yushu couldn’t be completely distracted. He muted the sound and proceeded to tell Song Qiming about his conversation with Shao Hexu in the afternoon.

“He doesn’t have a strong desire to fight for it, so it’s quite tricky to negotiate with him about the land,” Lin Yushu concluded.

“But on the other hand, if he’s not paying much attention to this matter, it means we have a lot of leeway in our operations,” Song Qiming tossed the empty can into the trash bin and turned to look at Lin Yushu. “I didn’t expect you to make progress so quickly.”

Lin Yushu was always efficient in his work. He tilted his head back, finished the remaining beer, and said, “I will find an opportunity to test Fang Lan’s attitude, and I also need to ask Grandfather’s opinion on Yu Xiu’s matter.”

“Do you think Grandfather will acknowledge him?” Song Qiming asked.

Lin Yushu shook his head. He had thought about opening another can of beer, but after hesitating for a moment, he dismissed the idea.

“You definitely don’t want Grandfather to acknowledge him,” he said. “That way, you’ll have another competitor for the inheritance.”

Song Qiming shrugged indifferently. “I don’t have any intention of fighting for the inheritance.”

“You better not,” Lin Yushu had long witnessed Song Qiming’s ambitions and naturally wouldn’t believe his words. “After all, I’m helping you for the development of the company, not to help you compete for the family fortune.”

“I know,” Song Qiming stretched his arms and picked up a third can of beer. “You don’t want me to create chaos in the Shao family.”

“Grandfather definitely doesn’t want that either,” Lin Yushu looked at the last remaining can of beer, but ultimately decided against opening it. “So, I think the chances of him acknowledging Yu Xiu are slim because it would cause conflicts within the family.”

“By the way,” Song Qiming suddenly said, “how much of the inheritance do you think I’ll get?”

Lin Yushu frowned. “Didn’t you say you don’t have any intention of fighting for the inheritance?”

“I won’t fight for the excess, but I won’t let go of what should be mine,” Song Qiming said.

The conversation seems to take a fair and reasonable tone, but Lin Yushu immediately senses something is off. He asks, “How much do you think should be yours? According to Shao Guangjie’s standards or your own?”

Song Qiming confidently replies, “Of course, it should be mine.”

In other words, if the inheritance distribution doesn’t satisfy Song Qiming, he will create chaos for the Shao family.

“You better not cause trouble for me,” Lin Yushu says with a headache. “If you do, I won’t help you anymore.”

“Don’t worry,” Song Qiming casually drinks a sip of beer. “I owe so much money, I won’t mess things up.”

Lin Yushu suddenly realizes that Song Qiming always keeps his ambitions hidden, not letting others discover them. But when he reveals his ambitions voluntarily, it never fails to surprise Lin Yushu.

Whether it’s when he buys stocks at low prices or when he wants to acquire land, it’s always the same.

—It was also the same when he pinned down Lin Yushu.

As he reminisces, Lin Yushu recalls that Song Qiming’s lips were soft, but his tongue was hot…

“Do you have a date with Fang Lan?” Song Qiming’s voice interrupts Lin Yushu’s thoughts.

“Not yet, she’s not easy to approach,” Lin Yushu puts away the untimely memories in his mind, thinking that not drinking anymore was the right choice. “She doesn’t seem interested in having any contact with the Shao family. Her lawyer handles the divorce matters.”

“I see,” Song Qiming ponders. “Then I’ll think of a way too.”

For some reason, whether it’s the effect of the beer or not, Lin Yushu tries to suppress his thoughts but it backfires, and the skin touched by Song Qiming starts to feel hot unexpectedly.

“Aren’t you going back yet?” he asks.

Song Qiming shakes the beer can in his hand. “I haven’t finished my drink.”

“Go back and finish it,” Lin Yushu’s tone carries a firmness that cannot be refused.

Song Qiming’s expression becomes somewhat bewildered, seemingly not understanding why Lin Yushu suddenly wants him to leave. He lifts his chin and points at the TV. “The movie isn’t over yet.”

Lin Yushu presses the power button, and the screen immediately goes black. “Now it’s over.”

Song Qiming: “…”

Footsteps sound from outside the door, and Wowo, who was sleeping sprawled on the sofa, immediately turns over, alertly looking towards the entrance.

After a while, Song Qiming walks in from outside, and Wowo tenses up, prepared to escape from the sofa at any moment.

However, the scolding that was anticipated doesn’t happen. As soon as Song Qiming returns, he sits down on the sofa listlessly, crossing his legs, one hand resting on his knee and the other rubbing Wowo’s head. “I accidentally revealed my tail just now, and he noticed.”

Perhaps getting more annoyed the more he thinks about it, Song Qiming increases the strength in his hand, messing up Wowo’s neck fur. “Your mom is hard to pursue, and you have the nerve to sleep?”

To give an update, the relationship between the two will continue to escalate until it reaches a critical point. This critical point will be after Lin Yushu becomes the CEO of the family office. Until then, his focus will primarily be on his career, and it will take some time for Old Song to pursue him.
