Chapter 33

So small.

Lucas frowned slightly.

Was Luo Ran short on money? How could his home be this tiny?

Still… it was beautiful and cozy. The walls were covered with sticky notes, cards, calendars, and little decorations. Many of the items looked as though they had been carefully chosen and arranged by the owner himself. At a glance, it was obvious that this was someone who knew how to enjoy life.

“All right, here’s the coffee you wanted, General.”

Luo Ran handed Lucas the coffee, then glanced at what Lucas was wearing today. He picked one of the three ties and began tying it for him.

Once he had finished, Luo Ran handed the tie to Lucas so he could put it on directly.

“Oh, right… There’s this, too.”

Luo Ran hurried into his bedroom with a series of quick footsteps before returning with a delicate little bag. Smiling, he said, “I bought some ties and buttons yesterday that I thought would suit you, General.”

Lucas froze, then raised an eyebrow. “You went out and bought things for me, too?”

“Yes.” Luo Ran handed him the bag. “Your wardrobe could use a few new additions.”

Lucas’s expression softened considerably, and the corners of his mouth even lifted into a slight smile.

He took the little bag and looked through it a few times.

“Not bad.”

They were all styles he liked.

Lucas carefully put everything away, then leaned back comfortably against the sofa and drank his coffee.

Ah, that was better.

Lucas glanced at Luo Ran, who was standing nearby, and asked, “What are you planning to do today?”

“Go… to the amusement park.” Remembering the ridiculous incident from the previous night, Luo Ran asked curiously, “How did the general know I was going?”

Lucas didn’t answer his question. Instead, he frowned and continued asking, “Are you going alone?”

Luo Ran nodded.

Lucas paused, then took out his terminal to check his schedule for the day.

He had originally been scheduled to attend a meeting at military headquarters, but yesterday he had deliberately asked Rong Duo to have it postponed by a day. As a result, everything on his schedule today was relatively unimportant.

“I’ll go with you.”

“…?”

What?

Luo Ran stared blankly at Lucas.

The general had just said… he wanted to go to the amusement park?

Lucas folded his arms. “Wouldn’t it be miserable going by yourself?”

He looked as though he were making a great personal sacrifice by lowering himself to accompany his secretary.

“I think going alone can be fun, too,” Luo Ran said.

He wanted to relax and clear his mind, not spend the day looking after his boss.

Lucas turned his head, his tone turning hostile. “You don’t want to go with me?”

Luo Ran smiled pleasantly. “I wouldn’t dare waste the general’s precious time. You have meetings today and important imperial affairs to attend to. A place like an amusement park, where little children go to play, isn’t suitable for you.”

“How would you know it’s unsuitable if you’ve never been? I’d like to see what’s so special about this thing that’s become popular lately.”

“General, I…”

Before Luo Ran could finish speaking, Lucas had already taken off his tie and military jacket and undone the top three buttons of his inner shirt.

Without his formal attire, Lucas wore only a fitted white undershirt, which made his broad, muscular physique look even more striking.

With the top three buttons undone, a glimpse of his broad, solid chest was visible beneath his prominent Adam’s apple.

Luo Ran instinctively looked away.

Lucas rolled his neck, tugged at his collar, and asked, “When are we leaving?”

Luo Ran: “…”

…

And so, an hour later, Lucas and Luo Ran appeared at the entrance to the retro amusement park in the imperial capital.

Lucas didn’t own many casual clothes, since he rarely had any use for them. This outing was an exception.

Before they left, Luo Ran had made a quick stop at the shopping mall and bought Lucas a casual jacket. The black leather jacket made Lucas look even more handsome.

Luo Ran, meanwhile, had simply thrown on a blue, long-sleeved knitted shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to his wrists.

After buying their tickets, the two entered the park.

The amusement park was packed with people, and the dazzling array of attractions was almost overwhelming. Naturally, the most eye-catching attractions were the tallest ones: the Ferris wheel and the roller coaster.

Luo Ran looked around at the colorful surroundings and felt his mood lifting.

With his hands in his pockets and sunglasses on, Lucas followed behind Luo Ran with a bored expression.

The nearest attraction was a dart-throwing booth. Luo Ran bought two sets of darts and handed one to Lucas.

Lucas looked at him in confusion.

Luo Ran pointed toward the bullseye a short distance away. “If you hit the target five times in a row, you win a little gift. If you hit it ten times in a row, you can take home a stuffed toy.”

Lucas glanced at the row of large plush toys displayed high above the booth and inwardly scoffed.

Then he looked at the people around them. So many people were working themselves to death throwing things just to win those fluffy toys? Wasn’t this incredibly boring?

Impatiently, Lucas said to Luo Ran, “Which ones do you like? I’ll knock them down for you, and then we can hurry up and leave.”

Luo Ran: “…”

“Which one?”

“…Any of them is fine.”

The owner and the people standing nearby overheard their conversation and turned to look at them.

Where had these arrogant people come from?

…Wait, was that Secretary Luo?

And the general?!

!!!!

Several people in the crowd recognized the two men. They were so excited that they covered their mouths with their hands and frantically tried to take photos.

Most of the crowd had already recognized them. Only the middle-aged owner still looked completely bewildered. In a straightforward, almost simple-minded manner, he said, “Young man, these targets aren’t that easy to hit. If you want to show off in front of someone you like, you’d better make sure you actually have the skills first.”

Lucas sneered without replying. He simply stepped into position and began throwing the darts at the bullseye.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

He sent all twenty darts flying. Every single one landed precisely in the small red target area.

The thrower never paused between movements. He tossed the darts one after another with casual ease, barely even bothering to concentrate on the targets. His gaze remained on Luo Ran and the owner instead.

“That’s amazing…! Who is that?”

“It’s… it’s that person!”

“Huh?”

Lucas’s performance immediately drew a crowd of onlookers. Everyone praised his incredible skill, while repeatedly casting envious looks at Luo Ran.
