Luo Ran seemed to curl up a little in his sleep, and Lucas frowned slightly.
Lucas naturally ran hot and wasn’t afraid of the cold, so his blanket was thinner than most.
After thinking for a moment, Lucas took the jacket hanging nearby and draped it over Luo Ran.
Luo Ran instinctively grabbed the fabric and sank into an even deeper sleep.
“Tsk…”
Lucas thought to himself that Luo Ran was such an idiot. He could be tied up and sold off while sleeping like this, and he wouldn’t even know it.
Lucas lay down on the sofa as well and went to sleep.
So, when Luo Ran woke up the next morning, he was rather bewildered to find a jacket draped over him.
His first thought was, Oh no. Did I unconsciously grab someone’s jacket to hug again out of habit last night?
The blood in his entire body seemed to turn cold.
Only after his memories gradually returned did Luo Ran begin to suspect that… Lucas had put it over him?
Holding the thick jacket in his hands, Luo Ran was a little surprised.
Lucas didn’t seem like the kind of person who would do something like this, much less someone who would be so considerate.
Did being sick come with special treatment?
Luo Ran shook his head, got up, and carefully folded the jacket. He planned to have it pressed before his leave ended and return it to Lucas.
After freshening himself up a little, Luo Ran saw that Lucas, as usual, still hadn’t gotten up.
However…
Luo Ran looked at Lucas, who had squeezed himself into the sofa like something stuffed into a can, and froze slightly.
Even watching Lucas sit in that position made Luo Ran uncomfortable.
He glanced at the jacket in his hands, then at Lucas, who had contorted himself into a human statue.
Luo Ran smiled, turned around, and went to make Lucas a cup of coffee and select his clothes.
Lucas needed a cup of coffee before starting work. He simply couldn’t go without it.
It was something Luo Ran did every morning, and he would do it today even though he was on leave.
……
When Lucas finally got up, he found himself alone in the office.
The bed had been tidied up neatly. The jacket had already been pressed, and on the desk sat a thermal cup, a stack of clothes, and some urgent documents.
Lucas stepped forward and picked up the clothes. A small sticky note was attached to them.
—May you have a happy new day! 0v0
Lucas froze, then rubbed his face.
“Tsk…”
—— XXXX ——
When Luo Ran returned home, he actually felt as though the whole thing were unreal.
Sitting idly in a soft chair, Luo Ran found the experience incredibly strange.
He was actually at home while the sky was still bright, without any work to do.
He actually had nothing he needed to take care of at this time of day.
It felt so, so empty and unfamiliar that he even wanted to find something to do just to pass the time.
After sitting there for a while, Luo Ran finally realized, belatedly—
He was really on leave!
Only then did excitement slowly well up inside him, sweeping through his entire mind.
Luo Ran jumped to his feet, happily grabbed some paper and a pen, then snuggled under his blankets to plan how he would spend his three days off.
Day one… Day one…
He would just sleep.
With a perfectly serious expression, Luo Ran wrote sleep in the box for the first day.
He spent the entire year getting up early and going to bed late while handling official business. He had never experienced the extravagant, shameless luxury of sleeping all day.
Day two… Luo Ran remembered that his parents had called him just a few days ago to complain that he rarely came home.
Then he would go home and spend the night on the second day, taking his younger brother and sister shopping for new clothes and shoes.
Day three…
Luo Ran had no idea what to do, so he went online to browse the forums for recommendations.
—The Empire’s newest retro amusement park! No advanced technology, no AR, no competitive survival games, yet it will keep you coming back for more!
—A retro amusement park recreating the perfect family outings and romantic dates of ancient Earth! Don’t go, and you’ll be left behind!
Luo Ran clicked on the posts curiously.
In this era, anything related to the cultural revival of ancient Earth quickly became a sensation. The milk tea shops that had once swept through and taken over the capital were one example.
Now, people were saying that this amusement park recreated iconic scenes from movies of that era and was a romantic paradise for couples. Naturally, it immediately attracted crowds of visitors.
Luo Ran looked through the posts and found himself rather interested.
He could go check it out himself first. If it was any good, he could take his younger brother and sister there as a reward after they finished their exams.
Once he had finalized his three-day schedule, Luo Ran happily flopped back down and started playing with his terminal.
After some thought, he decided to follow Deputy Adjutant Lu Cheng.
As the Empire’s secretary, Luo Ran had previously obtained administrative privileges directly from the Network Administration Bureau while investigating the Nina incident.
That was why, even though everyone was using alternate accounts—including Luo Ran himself—he could follow people like Nina and Rong Duo. He could access the backend directly, while nobody else knew it was him.
Lu Cheng was different from Rong Duo. Rong Duo was serious and professional at work, but Lu Cheng, that rough-and-tumble military man, had absolutely no idea how to control his facial expressions.
Luo Ran had noticed that whenever Lu Cheng appeared in the same frame as Lucas, the deputy adjutant would grin like an idiot without stopping, as though he were watching his own daughter get married.
Luo Ran had already been through countless battles. After experiencing The Tyrannical General’s Darling, he was no longer the same Luo Ran he had once been. He had also lost all faith in his ability to judge the people around him.
Luo Ran searched for Lu Cheng in the backend and discovered that the man was surprisingly bold. He didn’t use an alternate account at all. Instead, he openly used the ID “Deputy Adjutant Lu Cheng” to… ship couples.
Luo Ran: “……”
Lu Cheng’s latest post read:
@Deputy Adjutant Lu Cheng: #朝斯暮冉 Today, the secretary’s wife wasn’t feeling well and fainted. I was standing right beside him and was about to catch him, but who would’ve thought the general would go whoosh! and jump straight down from the command platform, moving faster than lightning and a gale! In a swoosh! he beat me to it!!
My hand was practically touching Secretary Luo! But the general went smack! and slapped my paw away! Then he bam! bumped me aside!!
The general was SO excited! SO nervous! He swooped! right up and picked the secretary up in his arms!
My hand was slapped red!
Ah! Such a beautiful love story!
