Chapter 2

Friday morning at 9 a.m., Yuanze Group.

Just as work began, many were still drowsy, some playing with their phones, others yawning.

Suddenly, a voice rang out: “He’s here! He’s here!”

Those catching up on sleep, yawning, or slacking off instantly perked up.

  “Quick! Level one alert!”

He had deep, starry eyes, a high, straight nose that could be used as a slide, and sensual, pale red lips below his nose.

As the man’s lips moved, even if you couldn’t hear what he was saying, it was indeed a tempting sight.

“Notify Mr. Zhang to come to my office at 9:30,” Tan Sizhe said as he walked, “The meeting will start at 11:00. Order 30 boxed meals from Fumanlou and have them delivered to the conference hall by 11:30.”

“Cancel the afternoon golf session at the club and replace it with table tennis.”

“Pick up the old man at 4 PM for the square dance competition, then take Ah Jin to take a bath.”

The intern assistant was sweating profusely as he jotted everything down in his notebook, the pen tip almost sparking: “Got it, President Tan, I’ll handle it right away.”

“By the way, who is Ah Jin?”

“The old man’s dog.” Tan Sizhe coldly uttered the last sentence, entered the private elevator, and everyone behind him stopped in their tracks.

Until the elevator doors closed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

It was truly terrifying! No wonder he’s the devilish CEO!

Tan Sizhe rode the elevator to the top floor executive office, entered the office, and made himself a cup of American coffee at the break area counter.

A few minutes later, Bai Yu knocked on the door and walked in, sitting directly on the sofa.

He took a few gulps of tea and said to the man drinking coffee by the floor-to-ceiling window, “I’ve found out what you asked me to investigate.”

Tan Sizhe turned to look at him.

“There’s no such thing as a younger son. It’s just the son of a servant who shares the same surname as their family. There’s no blood relation.” Bai Yu shook his head with a smile, “Do they really think we’re that stupid?”

Tan Sizhe carried the coffee to his desk, leaned back in his executive chair, and flipped through the documents at a leisurely pace.

Bai Yu looked at him: “What do you mean? Aren’t you angry?”

“It has nothing to do with me, so why should I be angry?”

“You’re about to marry him, and it still has nothing to do with you?”

“Does getting married mean it has to be related?”

“You…” Bai Yu was at a loss for words, “Then why are you getting married?”

Tan Sizhe didn’t even look up: “To fulfill my grandfather’s wish.”

“Hmph,” Bai Yu pulled over a chair and sat down, “I see. Your grandfather cares most about your marriage, so… you want to get married first to put his mind at ease?”

“Yes, they deceived me on this matter, but we’ll settle the score later.”

“What about Ye Mingxuan?” Bai Yu rested her chin on her hand. “He’s actually quite handsome. What do you plan to do once he marries into the family?”

Tan Sizhe’s voice had a metallic quality to it, and his words made the entire office fall silent: “Keep him at home as a vase.”

“As a vase?” Bai Yu laughed aloud. “What should I call you—a proper gentleman or a blockhead?”

“.”

“But speaking of which, why did Ye Mingxuan agree to this?”

Tan Sizhe took a sip of coffee: “What do you think?”

“I heard his mother was a maid for the Ye family. Maybe he was threatened by Ye Xiangkai and Zhao Dongxuan, but it’s also possible he’s after your money and your person, so he volunteered to get involved.”

“After me?”

“What else?”

“True,” Tan Sizhe curved his lips slightly, “few people would only want my money and not my person.”

  “…” Bai Yu fell silent.

Bai Yu almost forgot that he was Tan Sizhe’s assistant. He stood up, “Alright, alright, I’ll go get to work, President Tan.”

Tan Sizhe raised an eyebrow.

“Oh, right,” Bai Yu turned back halfway, took a photo from his briefcase, and placed it on the table with a meaningful expression, “This is a photo of your future wife, taken an hour ago, while it’s still fresh.”

After saying that, Bai Yu slipped out smoothly.

Tan Sizhe ignored it, focusing on processing documents for half an hour. During a break, he finally had time to glance at the photo.

After glancing at it, he was about to continue working when Tan Sizhe suddenly stopped and his gaze fell back on the photo.

Tan Sizhe snapped back to reality and realized he had been staring at the photo for a long time without even noticing.

Ye Mingxuan had already packed his suitcase early. His belongings were minimal, consisting mostly of clothes and textbooks needed for school.

Liu Yan cradled his face, her expression filled with reluctance: “Be good over there, listen to others, and call Mom often.”

Ye Mingxuan’s eyes brimmed with tears as he nodded firmly: “I’ll be good. Mom, take care of yourself too.”

“I won’t be able to see you every day anymore,” Liu Yan said, lowering her head and sobbing.

“Mom…” Ye Mingxuan also choked back tears.

Zhao Dongxuan watched the scene, rolling her eyes impatiently: “Enough, enough. Are you done saying goodbye? The Tan family is almost here!”

“Remember,” Zhao Dongxuan pulled Ye Mingxuan close, “you must keep this a secret, understand? Don’t let anyone find out your true identity, or I’ll make sure you regret it!”

Ye Mingxuan nodded in panic.

Just as she finished speaking, they heard the distant sound of car horns.

“Mingxuan! Be a good boy and come visit me when you have time!” Liu Yan looked back three times as she was pushed into the room and locked by Zhao Dongxuan.

“President Tan is so kind! Mingxuan has been waiting for us!” Zhao Dongxuan smiled and pushed Ye Mingxuan forward, “Mingxuan, come and greet Mr. Bai.”

He bowed his head and spoke in a trembling voice, “Mr. Bai…”

“Young Master Mingxuan, you don’t have to do that.”

“Our Mingxuan came from the countryside, so he’s not very well-mannered. Please don’t mind, Mr. Bai.” Zhao Dongxuan smiled ingratiatingly.

Bai Yu frowned: “I don’t care what Young Master Mingxuan’s status was before. Now that he’s married to President Tan, he’s President Tan’s man. Since he’s President Tan’s wife, everyone must respect him. Mrs. Ye, don’t you agree?”

Zhao Dongxuan’s expression froze for a moment: “Yes, yes, yes.”

Ye Xiangkai stepped forward: “It’s getting late. Mingxuan, follow Mr. Bai back.”

Bai Yu had the bodyguards carry the luggage and invited Ye Mingxuan to leave: “Young Master Mingxuan, let’s go.”

Ye Mingxuan glanced at Ye Xiangkai and Zhao Dongxuan, nodded timidly, and followed Bai Yu out.

Ye Mingxuan hesitated as he stepped into the car, nodded nervously, and then sat down.

The Bentley slowly started and drove away.

Zhao Dongxuan spat out, “What a jerk! He expects me to respect him? Does he really think he’s become a phoenix now?”

“Mom!” Ye Yufan ran to her side, “Ye Mingxuan and Aunt Liu are leaving. Hurry up and find us a new maid!”

“Alright, I certainly won’t let our little prince suffer. Mom will go contact someone right away.” Zhao Dongxuan saw her husband’s gloomy expression and went to comfort him, “Don’t worry, honey. It won’t be that easy to expose us.”

  …

After over an hour’s drive, the Bentley pulled into a heavily guarded upscale residential complex.

Each unit had its own elevator, and the entire complex only had thirty units. The environment was quiet and the scenery was pleasant.

“This is one of President Tan’s properties and his current residence. It’s close to both Li Yuanze and Mingxuan’s universities, making it convenient for Mingxuan to commute to and from school.”

Ye Mingxuan was as amazed as Liu Lao Lao entering the Grand View Garden, but he dared not touch or look around. He only glanced around secretly before lowering his head in silence.

After taking the elevator from the underground parking lot, Bai Yu pressed the doorbell. A few seconds later, a kind-hearted woman opened the door: “Mr. Mingxuan has arrived?”

Bai Yu introduced Ye Mingxuan: “This is Aunt Fu.”

Ye Mingxuan bowed: “Hello, Aunt Fu.”

“No, no, Mr. Mingxuan is too polite.”

Aunt Fu invited them inside, but Bai Yu declined: “I should leave now that I’ve dropped him off. President Tan has many matters awaiting my attention. So, Mr. Mingxuan, we’ll meet again next time.”

“Thank you, Mr. Bai.”

After saying goodbye, Bai Yu left. Ye Mingxuan stood there dumbfounded, pulling the handle of his suitcase, not knowing what to do.

Ye Mingxuan looked at the main bedroom, which was predominantly gray, feeling nothing but tension.

Tan Sizhe’s signature was bold and forceful, unlike his usual handwriting, which was as round and smooth as a primary school student’s practice writing.

Ye Mingxuan hurriedly lowered his head.

He also took out the clothes from the suitcase and put them back, because Ye Mingxuan dared not touch the items in the wardrobe, which were all filled with a manly scent, a delicate wooden fragrance.

Dinner was a table full of home-cooked dishes. Aunt Fu was delighted to welcome Ye Mingxuan inside and couldn’t resist showing off her cooking skills.

Ye Mingxuan ate one bite after another, not even taking the time to breathe, his cheeks puffed out like a little hamster.

His stomach felt like a bottomless pit—he could keep eating and eating, stuffing more and more in, but Ye Mingxuan left a little untouched. His clear black eyes darted around, thinking about packing some for his mother to take home.

But Aunt Fu didn’t give him that chance. After asking him if he was full, she threw away all the leftovers. President Tan insisted that leftovers not be kept overnight.

Ye Mingxuan could only watch helplessly as the trash can devoured the remaining food.

After finishing his meal, he insisted on helping Aunt Fu clean up, but she persuaded him otherwise: “If you do my job, how can I feel comfortable taking my salary?”

Ye Mingxuan sheepishly put down the cloth.

“Of course! If you don’t sleep in the master bedroom, who will? You’re President Tan’s wife, after all.” Aunt Fu left with a smile.

Ye Mingxuan paced anxiously in the living room, occasionally listening for sounds at the door. By ten o’clock at night, Tan Sizhe still hadn’t returned.

He had no choice but to go to the master bedroom to wash up.

The scent of the perfume wafted out, the same as the woody fragrance in the wardrobe, and the entire bathroom was almost entirely filled with the scent of a man.

Ye Mingxuan felt as though he was surrounded by men.

He quickly finished his shower and stepped out. Moving from the cramped servant’s quarters to such a spacious bedroom was quite an adjustment.

So he curled up in a small corner of the king-size bed.

When Tan Sizhe entered the room, he saw this scene.

Wait, why is Aunt Liu still getting thrown out? Keeping his mother’s job is the whole reason he agreed to these shenanigans. Is that family stupid?
