Chapter 18
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
A series of loud knocks on the door woke Fu Yu from his sleep. He opened his eyes, furrowing his brow as he glanced at the clock on the wall. He had slept for four or five hours straight, which explained the lengthy dream he just had.
Outside, the knocking on the door was urgent and persistent, impossible to ignore. Fu Yu reluctantly got up to answer it. Before opening the door, he checked the security camera feed. The person responsible for his unsettling dream was standing outside, banging on the door with great force. They seemed somewhat intoxicated. Fu Yu had no choice but to open the door to prevent disturbing the neighbors.
Xiao Yi stumbled inside, his body reeking of alcohol. His gaze was unfocused, indicating he had consumed quite a bit.
Fu Yu had no intention of engaging with a drunkard and was wondering how to get Xiao Yi a ride back home. However, Xiao Yi immediately grabbed Fu Yu’s hand as he searched his pockets.
“What are you looking for?… Touch me here, and here, it’s all for you…”
Xiao Yi pressed Fu Yu’s hand against his solid, warm chest, leaning against the wall with a mischievous smile. Compared to their younger years, Xiao Yi now exuded a more mature and sensual charm that would likely captivate any woman.
But Fu Yu was not moved. Xiao Yi’s efforts had no effect on him.
Fu Yu searched through all the pockets but couldn’t find his phone. He was contemplating how to deal with Xiao Yi when suddenly, Xiao Yi pounced on him, his words sounding uncomfortable.
“I feel terrible… Let me lie down for a while…”
Fu Yu had no other option. He had owed Xiao Yi a debt of gratitude for taking care of him when he was ill before. He helped Xiao Yi by supporting his arm and guiding him to the living room sofa, then fetched a thick blanket from the bedroom to cover him. Fu Yu believed this was enough, considering the circumstances. He was about to leave when Xiao Yi tugged at his clothing.
“It’s my fault, I’m sorry.”
Fu Yu was momentarily surprised and turned to look at him.
Xiao Yi’s eyes were somewhere between dazed and clear, as if there was a layer of mist concealing his emotions. He seemed intoxicated, yet he also appeared to know what he was saying.
“In what way did you go wrong?” Fu Yu asked.
Xiao Yi gave a faint smile, but his voice was hoarse and shaky, as if he had strained his vocal cords.
“You can say I went wrong wherever you want… I shouldn’t have written that disgusting letter to you, or done those disgusting things to you. My feelings are abnormal, and I promise I won’t do it again…”
Fu Yu finally understood.
Xiao Yi had remembered the words he had said back then, after all these years.
After six years, Xiao Yi had finally admitted his mistake. Fu Yu, however, didn’t feel the satisfaction he had expected. Instead, he was reminded of that moment when he had asked Xiao Yi, “Can you do it?” and Xiao Yi, with a choked voice, had replied, “I just like you… I can’t promise not to do it again…”
At that time, Xiao Yi’s expression had been filled with despair, with a burning determination within it.
But now, that determination seemed to have faded, leaving only a pale and desolate face.
“Why are you suddenly admitting your mistake?” Fu Yu asked.
Xiao Yi still had a faint grin. “What else can I do? I’m at my wit’s end.”
“No matter what I do, you don’t care, you don’t want to acknowledge me…”
“You said you wanted to live your own life, and I was afraid. I was afraid I would be isolated from your life forever. Just thinking about it was agonizing…”
“I shouldn’t have said those things. You surely know I still like… those disgusting feelings. Can you just pretend they never existed? I won’t do it again…”
“Please…”
Such a humble and fragile plea.
Fu Yu’s heart softened.
Clearly, he was willing to give someone who had attempted to violate him a chance.
Because that person was Xiao Yi.
Fu Yu suppressed his anger and disappointment and tried to give the person before him one last chance. “If you want me to forgive you, you need to apologize for that letter and what happened in the sports hall. Acknowledge that your feelings were abnormal and promise not to do it again. Can you do that?”
Xiao Yi seemed to be provoked, and he raised his head, his expression a mix of sorrow and indignation, with a hint of choked-up emotion in his voice. “I can apologize, but what’s abnormal about my feelings? I just like you… As for not doing it again, I can’t promise…”
Fu Yu’s sympathy vanished instantly.
Only someone who had lost their mind would consider giving a chance to someone who had attempted to assault him.
“Don’t touch me again. Leave.”
He forcefully shook off Xiao Yi’s grip on his clothing, turned away without looking back, and closed the door with a resounding “thud,” blocking out any further pleas from the outside.
