Chapter 37

This entry is part 38 of 66 in the series Major General! Your Wife Is Pregnant!

“Kumu, you’re awake.” That morning, just as Lian Qiguang—fully dressed—stepped out of his room, a chubby little face popped up right in front of him. Lian Qiguang glanced at Mi Xiaobao impassively and calmly walked over to sit down on the sofa. Mi Xiaobao didn’t seem to notice Lian Qiguang’s coldness and scampered after him: “Kumu, come eat! Look, I bought this for you.” Mi Xiaobao opened the box and pushed a breakfast—which wasn’t exactly cheap in Zone 3—toward him. “You’ve just arrived at school, so you must be unfamiliar with the place. Don’t worry, I’ll help you.” ” Lian Qiguang slowly shifted his gaze to the chubby boy in front of him, whose eyes were narrowed to slits in his smile, and remained silent. “Um, Kumu, you… why are you looking at me like that? Don’t you like this?” Feeling a bit creeped out by Lian Qiguang’s stare, Mi Xiaobao couldn’t help but shrink his neck. Lian Qiguang didn’t answer Mi Xiaobao’s question. He calmly averted his gaze, reached out to pull the breakfast toward him, and began shoveling it into his mouth with a blank expression. Seeing Lian Qiguang start to eat, the smile on Mi Xiaobao’s face widened again, almost crumpling his entire little face into a ball.

“Kumu, there are four people in this room. You already know me— my name is Mi Xiaobao, but everyone calls me ‘Chubby Mi.’” Mi Xiaobao crouched across from Lian Qiguang, propping his chin with both hands as he beamed at Lian Qiguang, his chatter flowing nonstop. “The guy from yesterday is Feng Qingyang. Don’t let his hot temper fool you—he’s actually a really nice guy. He’s always been the one to help me out when I get bullied. There’s also someone named Qiu Limò. He has a bit of a temper, so you’d better stay away from him.” When mentioning Qiu Limò, Mi Xiaobao wrinkled his nose, but quickly added with a lighthearted tone: “ “But he’s often not back at the dorm, and he rarely even goes to class, so you probably won’t run into him very often.”

“But Ku Mu, why did you end up in the Rescue Department? ” Mi Xiaobao furrowed his brow in confusion, seemingly at a loss to understand. “Most people in the Rescue Department are useless when it comes to psychic martial arts. In the eyes of many, we’re all good-for-nothings who don’t even deserve to be at the military academy………” Lian Qiguang’s hand paused slightly. “Ah! Kumu, don’t get mad—I didn’t mean anything by it. I just thought you’d be really good at this sort of thing………… …” Seeing Lian Qiguang stop moving, Mi Xiaobao thought he was angry and hurriedly stammered out an explanation.

“Noisy.” Lian Qiguang looked up, staring expressionlessly at Mi Xiaobao. “Huh?” Mi Xiaobao was taken aback. “You’re noisy.”

“ ………………” Mi Xiaobao

“Can I keep eating?” Lian Qiguang stared expressionlessly at Mi Xiaobao’s chubby, round face. “Huh? Oh! You—you eat! If there isn’t enough, I’ll go buy more. I may be clumsy and not good at school, but my family is rich.” Mi Xiaobao started chattering away again. Lian Qiguang pursed his lips, then simply turned into a block of ice to plug his ears. Ignoring Mi Xiaobao’s mouth as it opened and closed in silence, he ate his meal with a clear conscience.

After finishing his meal, Lian Qiguang changed into his military academy uniform and followed the chubby boy to the classroom.

It had to be said—he was truly handsome; no matter what he wore, he turned heads. The crisp, dignified black-and-white uniform highlighted Lian Qiguang’s perfect, youthful figure: a waist so slender it seemed almost impossible to grasp, and straight, long legs. Though it was just an ordinary school uniform, he managed to make it look alluring. His slightly long, tousled hair fell over his eyes, casting a shadow across his face and revealing only his rounded chin, delicate nose, and rosy lips. Even the most exquisitely crafted sculpture could not rival a third of his charm; one couldn’t help but want to gently stroke his soft hair to glimpse the peerless allure hidden within his mysterious black eyes.

As he walked through the academy with Mi Xiaobao, even Qi Guang seemed oblivious to the glances and whispers around them—whether subtle or blatant—remaining expressionless from start to finish, just as he always was.

His upright posture exuded pride. Every movement carried an air of dominance befitting a superior; his very presence overwhelmed those around him, instilling a sense of timidity and awe that compelled them to regard him as supreme and, in his presence, to instinctively bow in submission. This was the aura he had cultivated over more than fifty years—the overwhelming presence and majesty that later became the exclusive hallmark of the strongest human, standing at the pinnacle of humanity—an aura that could not be concealed.

Mi Xiaobao walked beside Lian Qiguang, cautiously studying his profile. “He’s definitely no ordinary person”—this was the conclusion Mi Xiaobao had finally reached after a night of agonizing over it. Although he didn’t know why Lian Qiguang had come to the Rescue Department, he was undoubtedly a major figure; even if he wasn’t one yet, he certainly would be in the future.

This was Mi Xiaobao’s intuition—and a prophecy.

Following Mi Xiaobao into the classroom, he looked around to find the class sparsely populated—only five or six students, few enough to count on two hands. Some were slumped over, others were lying down, all scattered listlessly throughout the room.

“Don’t mind them, okay? They’re usually like this.” Mi Xiaobao scratched his head awkwardly and cautiously glanced at Lian Qiguang, only to find him still expressionless, his brow not having twitched once from start to finish. Mi Xiaobao pouted, jogged up to the front of the classroom, and shouted, “Everyone, wake up! We have a new student here!”

“Ugh!! Chubby! Didn’t you know I had a date last night?” A girl with heavy makeup, wearing a baggy school jacket over a skimpy, sexy outfit, lifted her head with sleepy eyes. “Make any more noise, and I’ll crush you, you hear me?” “Sis Qingyi, don’t go back to sleep yet—we’ve got a new student here.” Mi Xiaobao seemed to be used to being teased by the girl in front of him. He turned around and pulled Lian Qiguang up onto the stage. “Everyone, wake up! This is our new classmate. Let’s all get to know each other.”

Woken by Mi Xiaobao’s outburst, the students in the class slowly raised their heads one by one. Some were still half-asleep, while others shot impatient glances at Lian Qiguang, who had remained expressionless from start to finish.

Lian Qiguang stared impassively at the crowd below and nodded blankly. “Ku Mu.” After uttering those two words, he lowered his head, his gaze drifting aimlessly into the air as his mind wandered far away.

“……………….” Mi Xiaobao

“. ……………….” The crowd

“It’s that little brat!!!” Feng Qingyang was the first to shout, charging at Lian Qiguang with gritted teeth. But before he could even touch Lian Qiguang, Lian Qiguang lifted his right foot and kicked Feng Qingyang squarely in the face. This time, Feng Qingyang didn’t even have time to cry out in pain before he was sent flying. Amid a series of “thuds and clangs,” he hit the ground headfirst, his legs slumping against the wall as he lost consciousness completely. From start to finish, Lian Qiguang stared expressionlessly at the ceiling, not even glancing at him once.

Instantly, everyone in the room perked up. They silently stood to their feet, their eyes fixed fiercely on Lian Qiguang at the front of the classroom. For a moment, the classroom was on the brink of violence, the atmosphere as cold as ice.

“Everyone! Please, don’t do this.” Seeing that the two groups were about to come to blows, Mi Xiaobao quickly stepped between them, shielding Lian Qiguang behind her as she waved her hands frantically. “Ku Mu is a new student—please don’t act like this.” “Is this how a new student behaves?” Qing Yi raised an eyebrow at Feng Qingyang, her red lips curving into a cold, alluring smile. “Ku Mu didn’t mean it—Ku Mu.” Mi Xiaobao turned and looked urgently at Lian Qiguang. “You explain this.” ” Lian Qiguang lowered his head, staring expressionlessly at Mi Xiaobao, and said blankly, “Explain what?” “ “Explain that you didn’t mean to do it.” Lian Qiguang followed the direction Mi Xiaobao was pointing and looked at Feng Qingyang. After a moment’s thought, he said impassively, “I did it on purpose.”

“Ku Mu…………” Mi Xiaobao froze.
