Chapter 20
Fan Xing remained stiff for a while before gradually relaxing his body and allowing himself to lean against the man.
The subtle pain in his chest slowly subsided, and a soft smile appeared on his lips as he spoke in a gentle tone, “Thank you, big brother.”
He Qingmo wasn’t tired from driving; he had clearly sensed that Fan Xing was in a bad mood.
Although this man often liked to tease him, there were times when he was exceptionally considerate.
Fan Xing knew it and felt grateful for it.
He Qingmo lowered his head to look at the visibly improved mood of the young man, gently playing with his soft hair, and asked, “Were you planning to attend H University before?”
Fan Xing’s face was buried in his chest, and his voice was muffled as he replied, “Yes.”
The man didn’t say anything and continued to hold him with one hand while stroking his hair with the other, the movements were gentle, much like petting a puppy. It was quite comforting.
After a while, the man spoke again, “You can still go, you know.”
Fan Xing, feeling drowsy from the soothing gestures, almost fell asleep but suddenly heard these words. His brain struggled to process it, and he raised his head from the man’s chest, blinking his clear eyes. “But, big brother, we’re married. How can I go abroad for college? It would be… it would be…”
He couldn’t find the right Chinese word to express “long-distance relationship,” so he gave up and said, “Married couples are supposed to live together, right?”
The man chuckled softly, teasing, “So, are you worried about a long-distance relationship, not being able to see me when you miss me?”
Fan Xing hesitated for a moment, his face turning red. He was about to explain, but before he could, the man continued, “It’s okay. Husband has a private jet. When you miss Husband, Husband can come see you.”
Fan Xing knew that He Qingmo was teasing him, but his face was getting even hotter. He tried to say something, but his poor Chinese vocabulary failed him, and he couldn’t find the right words. So, he just lowered his head and buried his face in the man’s chest, deciding not to speak anymore.
After all, he couldn’t argue back effectively, so he might as well play dead!
However, suddenly he realized something and looked up at He Qingmo, “Big brother, does that mean you don’t mind me going to H University?”
“Why would I mind? Honestly, while Tsinghua University is a top-notch university in the country, it still falls short compared to H University. You shouldn’t give up this opportunity. Go ahead,” He Qingmo said, his eyes filled with a smile.
Fan Xing stared at him blankly, unsure of how he felt.
When he decided to marry He Qingmo, he had applied to Tsinghua University right away. Giving up the opportunity to attend one of the best universities in the world was also a difficult decision for him.
However, at that time, he never thought that He Qingmo would agree to let him go abroad for college after their marriage. After all, they were officially married, and he had essentially been a gift offered to please He Qingmo’s taste.
How could He Qingmo possibly allow a gift to go abroad immediately after receiving it?
But now, it seemed that He Qingmo was not joking; he genuinely agreed to let him go abroad for college.
Fan Xing didn’t know whether to regret sending that email rejecting H University or be happy that He Qingmo was so considerate and giving him this freedom.
In the end, he just looked at the man, his long eyelashes fluttering like little fans. His clear eyes showed indescribable emotions, gradually turning into a gentle smile. “Big brother, you’re really wonderful.”
Well, there was no need to regret something already given up. Regret wouldn’t bring it back. But he had an unexpectedly considerate partner, which made him happy.
He Qingmo’s throat tightened slightly, but he only pinched the young man’s head lightly, then released him, and started the car, saying casually, “It’s okay not to go, so you won’t be easily seduced by someone else.”
Fan Xing sat up, realizing that the position he had been in while He Qingmo was hugging him had been quite twisted, making his back a bit uncomfortable. He rubbed his back and muttered, “I’m very smart, you know? I can’t be easily fooled by others!”
The man glanced at him, and it was clear that the little guy hadn’t understood what he wanted to convey.
He couldn’t help but smile at himself, realizing he was being a bit petty.
It was past 10 p.m. when the two of them finally returned home.
Fan Xing had almost fallen asleep a few times in the car. When he got home, he didn’t want to do anything except take a shower and go to bed.
However, once he was in bed, he suddenly couldn’t fall asleep.
He Qingmo was in the bathroom, so Fan Xing took out his phone and absentmindedly browsed the internet. He noticed that He Qingmo’s name seemed to be trending, so he clicked on it and found a highly viewed video.
In the video, he was walking ahead, and He Qingmo was leisurely following behind, his posture relaxed, but his attention was always on Fan Xing. He had a pleasant smile on his face, seemingly in a good mood.
Fan Xing stared at the man in the video and couldn’t help but smile. He had been busy bargaining in less-than-perfect Chinese during the afternoon and hadn’t noticed that He Qingmo had been looking at him the whole time.
Now, thinking back to his haggling, he felt a bit foolish. Could this man be teasing him?
Fan Xing continued to watch the video and scrolled down to read the comments. There were tens of thousands of comments, most of them saying how lucky He Qingmo was to have money, and changing partners was as easy as changing clothes. Some even speculated that He Qingmo was on the verge of bankruptcy, given that he was shopping for clothes in such a place. Of course, there were plenty of fangirls leaving adoring comments about He Qingmo.
Although the content was mostly the same, Fan Xing found it amusing and kept scrolling. He was so engrossed in the comments that he didn’t notice He Qingmo had finished his shower and was now standing beside him. He Qingmo tapped his head, and Fan Xing looked up, still sitting cross-legged on the bed, and handed him the phone, saying, “Big brother, you’re trending. They say you’re about to go bankrupt and can only go shopping with your new boyfriend.”
Fan Xing thought the netizens had quite an overactive imagination, considering that a shopping trip to a wholesale market could lead to bankruptcy. It was rather exaggerated, and he couldn’t help but find it amusing.
He Qingmo had originally planned to ignore this matter. After all, he would trend whenever he changed his partner, and it didn’t affect him. But seeing how happy Fan Xing was, he felt a bit annoyed.
Was this young man enjoying it too much?
He Qingmo felt a bit displeased as he took the phone from him. Without even watching the video, he typed a comment and was about to hit send when Fan Xing suddenly jumped on him, grabbing his hand that held the phone, and looked at him pitifully. “Big brother, don’t send it. What if someone actually believes it?”
