Chapter 25
“No, no, you guys are wrong. Even if he did change his preference, he couldn’t have taken an interest in Xiao Xing. They both have the same characteristics. What would two submissive guys do together?” After indulging in gossip for a while, Qin Xiuming seemed to suddenly discover some incredible truth and quickly interrupted the other two.
Yu Cheng gave him a disdainful look, “You don’t understand! When two submissives meet, there must be one who takes the lead, haven’t you heard? Besides, someone like Lu Chi, don’t be fooled by his natural talent for cross-dressing. Underneath those clothes, he might be all muscles, even more muscular than you!”
“Hey, hey, I believe you about the muscles, but don’t say I’m less manly than him!” Qin Xiuming refused to accept that.
“I mean, is this really the point? Why are you all assuming that Xiao Xing is a bottom? Can’t he be a Tibetan Mastiff in a puppy’s disguise?” Lu Zirui chimed in.
Upon hearing this, the other two roommates hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement without exchanging words. “You’re overthinking it.”
Lu Zirui couldn’t help but laugh, “Well, actually, I think Xiao Xing and Lu Chi, maybe Lu Chi is the one who’s a bit more dominant.”
Although Fan Xing was wearing headphones and couldn’t block out their conversation, he didn’t want to get involved.
He genuinely couldn’t understand how these three had the energy to discuss such irrelevant matters under such high-intensity training.
In fact, in his opinion, Lu Chi was a naturally friendly and warm person. He probably helped Fan Xing because he thought it was necessary to take care of a new student during the orientation. It wasn’t as complicated as Qin Xiuming and the others thought.
As for the top or bottom issue…
Well, that wasn’t really his concern, so he didn’t think about it. Instead, he decided to take a shower and go to bed.
When he came out of the shower, the dormitory had quieted down quite a bit.
Each of the three roommates was doing their own thing. Yu Cheng was gaming, Lu Zirui was tinkering with something, and Qin Xiuming was watching some variety show on his phone while complaining, “Damn, what kind of demon is this? Is this androgynous style popular nowadays? This No. 17, what’s his name, Gu Mingyu? Such a weirdo, and yet he’s so popular, it’s bizarre!”
Fan Xing, seeing that they were interested in a variety show, approached Qin Xiuming, “What are you watching?”
Qin Xiuming, surprised that Fan Xing was interested in a variety show, immediately pulled him over to watch, “It’s the new talent show ‘Limitless Youth.’ Take a look at this No. 17, doesn’t he look neither male nor female? His makeup is so heavy that you can’t even tell what he really looks like, and his clothing is so gender-neutral.”
Fan Xing was also taken aback when he saw Gu Mingyu’s appearance on the show. Gu Mingyu had applied heavy smoky makeup, seemed to have hair extensions, and even had a ponytail. His clothing was also quite gender-neutral.
The look wasn’t bad at all, and Gu Mingyu was only sixteen years old, so his gender characteristics weren’t very pronounced. This kind of gender-blurring style easily caught people’s attention in a short period of time.
Perhaps that’s why, even though it was only the second episode of the show, Gu Mingyu’s popularity in the online voting was far ahead of the others.
But…
Although Fan Xing had only met Gu Mingyu twice, he didn’t think this style suited him, and Gu Mingyu probably wasn’t the type to compromise. Would he change his style just for popularity?
Fan Xing found it a bit strange, but in the end, it had nothing to do with him. He didn’t need to worry about it, so he put that thought aside and made a phone call to He Qingmo.
There wasn’t much to talk about, but Fan Xing felt that since he was married to He Qingmo and He Qingmo had kindly allowed him to go to university, he should at least call every day to update him on his situation.
Besides, it seemed that He Qingmo didn’t mind at all when they talked on the phone.
So, this nightly phone call had become a habit for him.
And waiting to answer the phone every night seemed to have become a habit for He Qingmo as well.
Today, He Qingmo had been in a long meeting, and he had even eaten a work meal for dinner. By the time everything was settled, it was almost eleven o’clock.
He glanced at the time and was thinking that the call was a bit late today when his phone rang.
A faint, soft voice came through, “Brother, are you asleep?”
“No, I’m still at the office,” the man lazily reclined on the couch, his long legs casually crossed. He had spent the whole day with a bunch of stubborn board members who didn’t understand a thing, and he was really exhausted.
The concern in the little voice could probably sense his exhaustion, “Are you busy? Brother, did you forget to eat because of work?”
“The work meal was terrible, so I barely ate anything,” the man complained half-genuinely.
“What should we do then?” Fan Xing seemed genuinely worried. “How about I ask Assistant Song to order from a different restaurant for you? If you didn’t eat much, you might get hungry later. Or maybe you could come home…”
“I want to eat what you cook, what should we do?”
The man suddenly interrupted him, his low and slightly hoarse voice crawling into Fan Xing’s ears, sending shivers down his spine.
Fan Xing didn’t know why his face felt a bit flushed, and his voice unconsciously softened a bit, “But I have to go running at six tomorrow morning. If I go back now… How about I come back?”
The man, leaning on the couch with his eyes closed, let out a silent smile as he gradually disappeared, “Are you silly? If you come back now, do you plan on staying up all night?”
Considering the distance between Tsinghua University and He Qingmo’s home, if Fan Xing rushed back to cook and then returned to school, it would already be morning.
“Then… what about you?” Fan Xing asked softly.
The man’s deep laughter came through the phone, “Worried about your husband?”
Fan Xing bit his lip and gave a barely audible response, “Mm.” Then he suddenly raised his voice and said earnestly, “Not eating is bad for your stomach!”
The man on the other end was about to tease the little one again, but he was silenced, feeling that he had played enough, and maybe the little one was genuinely worried about him. So he chuckled softly, “Alright, I’ll go back and reheat some shrimp dumplings for myself, okay?”
“Okay, but don’t eat too much, it’s not good for your stomach. Oh, by the way, I just remembered, I might have to come back a day later. Senior Lu Chi invited me to attend a lecture in their Computer Science Department. He said it’s going to be fascinating, with many accomplished alumni attending. So I want to go and listen.”
Lu Chi was from the Computer Science Department, which had nothing to do with the Medical School, but when Lu Chi invited him and described the lecture so enthusiastically, Fan Xing was tempted.
Originally, after military training, the freshmen were supposed to have a break, but because of this lecture, Fan Xing would have to stay at school for an extra day.
The man on the phone remained silent for a while, seemingly lost in thought, before speaking up, “Alright, go ahead.”
Fan Xing immediately thanked him, “Thank you, Brother.” Just as Qin Xiuming came out to hang clothes, Fan Xing said goodbye to He Qingmo and hung up the phone before going back to sleep.
On He Qingmo’s end, he suddenly remembered something and called for Song Yang, “Did Tsinghua send me any invitations recently?”
Song Yang had an excellent memory, “Yes, it’s from the Computer Science Department. They wanted to invite you to attend a lecture on employment issues for graduates, but it conflicted with your schedule.”
“Did we reschedule it?” He Qingmo asked.
“Not yet. Are you planning to attend?”
“Yes, reschedule that day’s appointments.” After saying this, he grabbed his clothes and left.
