Chapter 26

The day after military training ended, Fan Xing slept until noon. After all, he hadn’t been able to wake up after 5 o’clock for the past twenty days, even though Fan Xing wasn’t particularly fond of sleeping in. He felt a bit overloaded.

The other three roommates had all gone home, and since Fan Xing didn’t feel like going to the cafeteria alone, he planned to have instant noodles. However, Lu Chi called him and suggested going to the cafeteria together. He mentioned having a meal and then going to the auditorium because Fan Xing might not know the way.

Um… Fan Xing did know the way to the auditorium.

Nevertheless, Lu Chi’s intentions were good, and Fan Xing couldn’t refuse. So, he changed clothes and went downstairs, but Lu Chi was nowhere to be seen.

He took out his phone and called Lu Chi. Suddenly, someone tapped his shoulder from behind, and a voice, smiling yet unfamiliar, sounded, “Little brother, who are you looking for?”

Fan Xing turned around and saw a handsome and charming young man smiling at him.

He couldn’t help but be surprised and blinked his clear eyes, suddenly realizing, “Senior Lu Chi?”

Lu Chi instantly looked disappointed, “You recognized me so quickly; it’s no fun. Come on, let’s have lunch. Today, I’ll take you to the best cafeteria in our school.” He hooked Fan Xing’s shoulder without any reservation and started walking.

Fan Xing was a bit shocked. Although he always knew that Lu Chi was a guy, he had always presented himself in a feminine way. Fan Xing had never imagined what he looked like in male attire.

This sudden revelation caught him off guard.

Moreover, Lu Chi’s original appearance was genuinely good-looking. It was a different kind of charm compared to when he dressed as a girl – more sunlit and amiable, creating an easy sense of closeness.

“Hey, what are you looking at? Did you discover how handsome Senior is?” Lu Chi asked in a somewhat exaggerated tone, his smile becoming a bit triumphant.

Curiosity got the better of Fan Xing, and he couldn’t help but take another look. Lu Chi didn’t seem embarrassed; instead, his smile became even brighter, and his tone was a bit proud.

This was different from when he dressed as a girl. Back then, Lu Chi deliberately adjusted his voice, and his language habits were completely feminine.

Fan Xing couldn’t help but laugh at Lu Chi’s exaggerated tone and nodded, “Yes, you’re quite good-looking. Senior, you’re so handsome. Why do you like dressing as a girl?”

Unexpectedly, Lu Chi’s expression suddenly turned cold, and he let go of the arm around Fan Xing’s shoulder. “Do you find it disgusting?” he asked.

Fan Xing was taken aback and quickly shook his head, “No, no! I just… Senior, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean that.”

Fan Xing had initially wanted to explain, but he reconsidered and gave up. It wasn’t that he couldn’t explain it clearly; it was just that he realized he had asked an inappropriate question, probably touching Lu Chi’s bottom line.

Lu Chi stared at him for a while, seemingly lost in thought. Then, he leaned over, hooked Fan Xing’s shoulder again, and said with a smile, “Alright, I won’t be angry. Do you want to know why I like dressing as a girl? I like it! I’ve liked it since I was a child. If it weren’t for the occasion today, I wouldn’t have changed back. Look at men’s clothes; they’re so ugly!” He even disdainfully pursed his lips.

In this state, it seemed like he didn’t mind being asked why he dressed as a girl. Why did he suddenly get angry before?

Fan Xing, who had figured out Lu Chi’s mind, couldn’t help taking a few more glances. The Lu Chi in men’s clothing seemed to have a somewhat peculiar temper.

But overall, he was still easy to get along with.

The two of them then went to the cafeteria, reputedly the best in Qing University, for lunch. Fan Xing had heard about it before and wanted to try, but during military training, he was too tired and didn’t have the energy. Today, thanks to Lu Chi, Fan Xing finally got to experience the best cafeteria. The taste was indeed better than the one he had been to before, but the popularity was too high, resulting in a long line.

By the time they finished lunch, it was almost one o’clock. Lu Chi mentioned that there would be many people attending the lecture today, so they needed to go early to secure seats. Therefore, they went straight from the cafeteria to the auditorium.

Fan Xing only realized at that moment that the lecture was about employment issues for graduates of the computer science department.

Hmm… This seemed to have nothing to do with him.

Lu Chi didn’t mention it like this before.

However, Lu Chi probably meant well, wanting him to understand the employment situation in advance. Since he was already here, Fan Xing decided to listen.

The lecture started at 2:30 p.m. At 2 o’clock, the auditorium was already full, and the staff had started testing the equipment.

Half an hour later, accompanied by the host’s introduction, successful individuals who graduated from the computer science department walked onto the stage one by one. Each time someone appeared, enthusiastic applause filled the auditorium.

Fan Xing didn’t recognize any of them, but it didn’t matter. Lu Chi was there to introduce each one in detail, and by the time the last person came out, Lu Chi seemed a bit reluctant. He leaned over and looked towards the stage, realizing that no one else was coming. It seemed a bit disappointed.

“What’s wrong?” Fan Xing asked in confusion.

Lu Chi shook his head, “Nothing. The list given by the campus network had more names than these. I thought there were more. But it’s okay; we’ll hear a bit less, so we won’t delay having dinner.”

Although Lu Chi said so, Fan Xing still felt that he seemed a bit disappointed. Not only Lu Chi, but the entire auditorium also seemed less enthusiastic than before. The applause wasn’t as fervent.

It seemed that this absent person was quite popular. Fan Xing was curious about who this person was.

At that moment, someone suddenly exclaimed, startling him, and Lu Chi next to him was also staring at the stage in a daze. Then, a familiar voice entered Fan Xing’s ears, “Sorry for being late.”

Fan Xing suspected he was hearing things and looked up slowly. He saw a tall and upright man standing on the stage. His deep eyes casually swept across the entire auditorium, then accurately landed on Fan Xing.

Surprised, Fan Xing felt a bit guilty and quickly shifted his gaze elsewhere, afraid that others would see through any unusual relationship between him and the man.

His mind was in a haze. Was He Qingmo a graduate of Qing University? Fan Xing had no idea.

When He Qingmo said he wanted to attend Qing University, this man never mentioned it. Moreover, just last night, Fan Xing had talked to him about attending this lecture today, and he didn’t mention he was coming. He deliberately kept it a secret, probably wanting to surprise him.

Fan Xing, trying not to reveal anything, silently prayed in his heart: Don’t let any mistakes happen; don’t expose the relationship between me and He Qingmo.

The more he cared, the more Fan Xing didn’t dare to look at the stage, fearing that He Qingmo might be looking at him when he looked over.

So, his gaze wandered around, drifting aimlessly.

However, five minutes later, Fan Xing was drawn into He Qingmo’s speech. His attention was unintentionally pulled over, completely forgetting the fear of exposure. It was as if he was immersed in a specialized book during a class, staring fixedly at the man’s face.

Suddenly, Lu Chi leaned over and whispered in his ear, “Is this senior exceptionally handsome?”

Fan Xing was startled, and when he regained his composure, he smiled somewhat awkwardly, “I just think he speaks exceptionally well.”

“Not handsome?” Lu Chi seemed a bit fixated on this question.
