Chapter 7
He really didn’t like this kind of smell, unconsciously furrowing his brows slightly.
“Mmm,” the man responded in a nonchalant tone. He had already changed his shoes and sat down on the sofa, stretching his body into a completely relaxed state. He leaned his head against the back of the sofa, closed his eyes, and though his brows were deep, they were now relaxing, but his complexion still didn’t look good.
Clearly, he was uncomfortable.
Seeing this, Fan Xing hurried to the kitchen and brewed a cup of honey water, then cautiously suggested, “Brother, would you like some honey water to help with your hangover?”
The man’s thick eyelashes trembled slightly, and when he opened his eyes, he met the young man’s clear and somewhat concerned gaze.
He adjusted his posture slightly and accepted the cup of honey water from Fan Xing, taking a sip.
After he finished, Fan Xing took the cup back and fetched a warm towel from the bathroom to gently wipe his face.
However, He Qingmo still seemed to be feeling unwell, leaning on the sofa and occasionally pinching his temples.
“Brother, do you have a headache?” Fan Xing asked softly.
“A bit,” He Qingmo’s voice was somewhat hoarse due to the alcohol.
“In that case, let me give you a little massage,” Fan Xing said as he moved behind the man and gently pressed his fingers against He Qingmo’s temples. “Is this pressure okay?”
The man found it quite comfortable, and his lips curved into a slight smile. “Your technique is good. Do you do this for people often?”
“Not really, just occasionally for my grandmother when she has a headache,” Fan Xing replied softly. “But I’m not sure if this would help with a hangover caused by drinking.”
Fan Xing’s voice was already low, and now it became even quieter, considering the slow pace of his speech. Surprisingly, He Qingmo didn’t find it bothersome at all; in fact, he found it quite pleasant.
“It’s quite nice,” he said, still with his eyes closed, his brows gradually relaxing.
However, his complexion still didn’t look too good.
Fan Xing pressed his lips tightly, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke again, “Brother, if you feel so uncomfortable after drinking, maybe you should drink less next time. Drinking is not good for your health.”
“Okay. Today I ran into an old man who’s a heavy drinker and couldn’t refuse. There was nothing I could do,” He Qingmo explained. His headache had already eased a bit, and he lightly patted Fan Xing’s hand, signaling that he didn’t need the massage anymore. Then, he stood up. “I’m going to take a shower.”
“I’ll go start the water. You can rest a bit more, and I’ll call you when it’s ready,” Fan Xing said, and then he quickly ran upstairs.
He Qingmo watched him disappear into the hallway and sat back down on the sofa. Surprisingly, he was in a rather good mood.
In truth, he always felt uncomfortable after drinking, so he rarely drank unless it was absolutely necessary. However, there were occasions like tonight when he couldn’t avoid it.
On nights like these, he would return home and lie on the sofa, feeling too lazy to move. Sometimes, he would even fall asleep here, and the next morning, not only would his head hurt, but his whole body would feel uncomfortable from sleeping in an awkward position.
But tonight, thanks to a cup of honey water, a warm towel, and the cool fingertips of a young man, he was feeling much better.
Hmm… it turns out having someone at home feels quite nice, he thought.
Due to the effects of alcohol, He Qingmo slept deeply that night.
On the other hand, Fan Xing, who slept beside him, woke up many times during the night, worried that he might not be feeling well. He would wake up and check on him from time to time.
This also led to Fan Xing oversleeping again the next morning. When he finally woke up, it was already past 10 AM.
However, this time, He Qingmo hadn’t woken up before him. He was still sleeping peacefully.
Fan Xing, observing He Qingmo’s complexion in the faint light filtering through the curtains, noticed that he had returned to his usual state. With this reassurance, Fan Xing quietly got out of bed, went to the bathroom to freshen up, and then went downstairs to the kitchen.
Breakfast was skipped at this time, and Fan Xing went straight to preparing lunch. Considering that He Qingmo had been drinking last night, he planned to make something light for lunch.
When the ingredients were almost ready, he heard the sound of the door opening.
He was somewhat surprised and didn’t even have time to take off his apron before rushing over. He saw a middle-aged woman dressed in an extremely refined and elegant manner entering through the door.
“Hello, you…”
Fan Xing couldn’t finish his sentence as the woman’s sharp gaze swept over him, and she interrupted him in a cold tone, “Where’s Qingmo? Call his office. They said he’s not going to the company today.”
“Bro… Mr. He hasn’t woken up yet. Who are you…”
The woman interrupted Fan Xing once again, “What time is it, and he’s still not up? This is getting out of hand!” After saying this, she completely ignored Fan Xing, didn’t even bother changing her shoes, and went upstairs wearing her ten-centimeter high heels.
Fan Xing hesitated for a second before turning back to the kitchen to continue preparing lunch.
He had probably already figured out who this woman was. She could enter and exit He Qingmo’s home freely and had the audacity to rush into the bedroom while the man was still sleeping. It could only be his own mother.
Since they were family, he decided not to get involved.
Fan Xing’s guess was correct; the woman was indeed He Qingmo’s mother, Ji Jin.
Ji Jin went upstairs directly to the master bedroom, lifted He Qingmo’s blanket, and threw her handbag at him. “What’s going on? You got married without telling us, and you act like both your dad and I are dead? How can you do something like this behind our backs? Tell me, what else are you too afraid to do?”
Ji Jin stood by the bed, her face turning green with anger. She had only been abroad for a few days, and when she returned, her son had already gotten married. She had heard about it from someone else.
He Qingmo, who had been awakened by the commotion, felt annoyed, but the culprit was his own mother, so he had to endure it. He rolled out of bed, his response casual, “Weren’t you urging me to get married all the time?”
“I didn’t mean for you to marry just anyone!”
“Are you saying you wanted me to marry someone you randomly picked for me?”
Ji Jin hesitated for a moment, her tone no longer as harsh as before. “I know you didn’t like the candidates your dad and I selected for you. You like men, fine, we won’t object anymore. But how could you marry someone like this?”
“What kind of person?” He Qingmo opened the curtains, turned back to look at Ji Jin.
“What kind of person? Don’t think I’m completely clueless just because I just returned to the country. That boy claims to be from a respectable family, but I don’t even know where he came from. I’m sure they bought him to cater to your preferences. Who knows what kind of person he really is? Maybe he…”
“Mom!” He Qingmo raised his voice, cutting her off. “I’m already married to him. Legally, we’re family. If you speak ill of him like this, I will be angry!”
If please shut up the lady if she is angry about the choice of her son you could investigate your spouse and having the means I think it would be very easy, instead of assuming the worst of the poor boy that it is bad enough that he has a bad mother
Thanks for the update 😤😤
