It had been five days.
It had already been five days since Lian Qiguang arrived in District Seven. Ever since the argument that day, Wuma Yan had never appeared in front of Lian Qiguang again. Other than coming out for three meals a day, Lian Qiguang had also kept himself locked inside his room, never stepping outside even once.
The green light around his body gradually faded. Lian Qiguang opened his eyes, and a flash of gold quickly disappeared.
The sky had already darkened. The sealed room was filled with an oppressive silence. Lian Qiguang silently placed his hand over his slightly heated chest, surprise flashing through the depths of his eyes.
After a long while, Lian Qiguang got out of bed, walked to the table, picked up a nutritional supplement, and drank it expressionlessly.
It had already been five days. He wondered how Xiahou Shaoxuan was doing. Was he going crazy looking for him?
Lian Qiguang walked to the window and pulled the closed curtains open just a crack, calmly watching the darkening sky outside. After drawing the curtains shut again, Lian Qiguang walked over to the rocking chair and sat down. He took out his light brain from his space and connected to the network.
Zombies were running rampant. Areas of Blue Star were falling one after another, and the space in which humanity could survive was becoming smaller and smaller.
Looking at several consecutive pictures showing burning zombie birds and exploding spaceships, Lian Qiguang indifferently shut the light brain again.
Wuma Yan only thought about how to end this world as quickly as possible and wipe out humanity, but he did not know that when something was suppressed to its absolute limit, it would always erupt. When that happened, the force of the eruption would be enough to devour him.
When there was no longer any hope, the power of madness was far beyond imagination.
That was humanity.
There would eventually have to be an end between him and Wuma Yan, but not now.
That day was not far away…
“Pfft!!”
The last human also fell into a pool of blood.
On the empty street, corpses covered the ground, and blood flowed like a river. The thick stench of blood permeated the air, reflecting the crimson moonlight and making the scene cold and eerie.
Wuma Yan calmly looked at the still-beating heart in his hand. His eyes darkened slightly, and with a sudden exertion of force, he crushed the heart in his hand.
Qiu Limao slowly walked out of the darkness, stepping through the flowing blood. He came to Wuma Yan’s side and silently took his cold hand. Taking out a piece of silk, he gently wiped the filth from Wuma Yan’s hand.
“Teacher, how is it?” The murderous aura in Wuma Yan’s eyes faded as he asked in a low voice.
“Very well.”
Qiu Limao did not even raise his head and answered indifferently. His movements were gentle as he carefully cleaned Wuma Yan’s palm.
Wuma Yan glanced at Qiu Limao, then pulled his hand back from Qiu Limao’s grasp. His brows imperceptibly furrowed.
“You’re injured?”
Wuma Yan lowered his head and glanced at the bloodstains on the hem of his clothes, casually brushing them away.
“It’s not a fatal wound.”
Staring directly at Qiu Limao’s calm profile, Wuma Yan suddenly grabbed him by the shoulder with one hand and slammed him hard against the wall. With his other hand, he forcefully tore open his clothes.
Startled by Wuma Yan’s sudden movement, Qiu Limao sucked in a sharp breath. He grabbed Wuma Yan’s wrist, widened his eyes, and looked at him, astonishment flashing in his eyes.
The torn clothes revealed a body covered in bloody flesh and countless wounds. In particular, there was a wound on his abdomen that seemed to have been pierced through by something. White bones were exposed, and his writhing internal organs could faintly be seen.
Wuma Yan’s face darkened, his voice cold enough to pierce the bones.
“Who?!”
“I already killed him.”
Understanding that Wuma Yan was checking his injuries, Qiu Limao released his grip and stopped resisting. He turned his face aside and calmly shifted his gaze away.
His eyes viciously fixed on the wounds covering Qiu Limao’s body. Wuma Yan released his restraint, straightened Qiu Limao’s clothes, then turned his back to him and said coldly,
“Go back and treat it. Don’t die.”
“If I became the same as you, I wouldn’t get injured.”
Looking at Wuma Yan’s departing back, Qiu Limao suddenly spoke.
Wuma Yan’s footsteps paused slightly.
Silence lingered between the two of them. Broken limbs and severed bodies covered the ground, the red blood painfully glaring.
After a long while, Wuma Yan started walking again, gradually disappearing down the street.
“If you become a monster, I’ll kill you immediately.”
Wuma Yan’s back gradually disappeared into the darkness.
Qiu Limao quietly watched until even the last trace of his presence had completely faded away. Only then did Qiu Limao heavily lean against the wall, helplessly sliding down until he sat on the ground.
Qiu Limao sat there, leaning against the wall as he silently gazed at the sky. His pair of dark, gloomy eyes were so empty that it was heartbreaking.
Wuma Yan walked through the desolate, blood-soaked darkness, his hand held behind his back slowly tightening.
Eternal loneliness and suffering, endless waiting and despair… How will you endure it?
“Boss!!”
A burst of hurried footsteps approached. An Yi came running over with a computer in his hands. His usually gentle face could barely conceal his excitement.
Xiahou Shaoxuan moved his gaze away from the nutritional chamber and looked coldly toward An Yi.
An Yi stopped in front of Xiahou Shaoxuan. He had even forgotten to salute and hurriedly opened the computer, presenting it to Xiahou Shaoxuan.
“Boss, that special program in your and Sister-in-law’s light brains—I have been trying to crack it and establish a connection these past few days. Your light brain number has already been locked by Sister-in-law, but by using the records from your previous communications, I just finished recording and analyzing all the data. And I’ve pinpointed Sister-in-law’s location.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan’s eyes darkened, and the overwhelming pressure radiating from his body suddenly descended.
Xiahou Shaoxuan turned around, his black eyes dark and cold as he stared at An Yi.
“Where?!”
An Yi’s breathing stopped for a moment. His feet instinctively took half a step back, but he still forced himself to answer under the pressure.
“District Seven.”
District Seven…
Xiahou Shaoxuan’s ten fingers clenched with a series of crack, crack sounds. His expression was dark and terrifying, his entire body shrouded in an aura of grim violence and killing intent.
“B-Boss…” An Yi nervously took two steps back, then braced himself and said, “Be careful. Little Young Master and Little Miss are here.”
The aura around Xiahou Shaoxuan instantly disappeared.
He turned around and looked toward the nutritional chamber. Seeing that the two little ones were fine, his heart relaxed slightly.
Xiahou Shaoxuan reached out and placed his hand against the glass. Through the glass, he gently stroked the faces of the two little ones again and again, speaking in a low voice.
“Don’t worry. I’ll bring your mother-father back very soon.”
“What did you say? District Seven?”
Xiahou Zhong stood up, looking at Xiahou Shaoxuan in astonishment.
“District Seven? How is that possible? The military has sent troops to District Seven several times in the past to investigate, but…”
Xiahou Jue’s brows knitted tightly as he fell into thought.
“If it is another situation, then the unsolved mystery surrounding District Seven for nearly a thousand years can be explained.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan spoke in a deep voice.
“District Seven is the headquarters of those corpses that disappeared from the museum.”
As soon as these words came out, the entire room erupted into an uproar.
Xiahou Zhong and Xiahou Jue looked at each other, both seeing shock and disbelief in the other’s eyes.
“I’m going with you!”
Xiahou Luoyu stood up and looked solemnly at Xiahou Shaoxuan.
“I’m going with you to District Seven and bring Little Guang back.”
“No.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan coldly rejected Xiahou Luoyu’s request.
“Why?!”
Xiahou Shaoxuan’s rejection made Xiahou Luoyu furious. She quickly walked in front of Xiahou Shaoxuan, her face full of indignation.
“I’m not going to cause you any trouble. Besides, I’m also responsible for what happened to Little Guang. If I can’t bring Little Guang back, how will I have the face to return to the Lian family in the future?”
Ignoring Xiahou Luoyu’s shouting, Xiahou Shaoxuan walked past her and stopped in front of Xiahou Zhong. He spoke in a deep voice.
“Give me three special combat spaceships and two squads from the Blood Fiend Wolves.”
Xiahou Zhong looked solemnly at Xiahou Shaoxuan and asked seriously,
“Are you confident?”
“No.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan’s expression did not change.
“But if I want to go, no one can stop me.”
Thinking of Xiahou Shaoxuan’s abnormal combat strength, Xiahou Zhong was immediately left speechless for a moment.
“Which two squads do you want?”
“Not fixed squads. I’ll select sixty people from the entire Blood Fiend Wolves and form a temporary team.”
Xiahou Zhong stared intently at Xiahou Shaoxuan’s hard, unyielding expression.
After remaining silent for a long time, Xiahou Zhong slowly stood up and looked at Xiahou Shaoxuan as he issued his command.
“Xiahou Shaoxuan, bring Lian Qiguang back.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan stood perfectly straight and gave a military salute.
“Yes, sir!!”
“Old man!! I want to go too!!”
Xiahou Luoyu continued shouting stubbornly from the side.
“What are you yelling for?! If you have nothing to do, go clean the streets!”
“I won’t!!!”
…………
“Boss, what are the criteria for these sixty people?”
After receiving Xiahou Shaoxuan’s order, An Yi was only stunned for a moment before reacting. He quickly asked the most important question.
Xiahou Shaoxuan was silent for a moment. He walked to the window and looked at the gray, gloomy sky outside before speaking indifferently.
“Perhaps, not a single person will come back.”
An Yi froze.
Looking at Xiahou Shaoxuan’s back, he opened his mouth, wanting to say something but ultimately unable to do so. He quickly gave a military salute.
“Yes, sir!!”
After An Yi left, Xiahou Shaoxuan stood by the window with his hands behind his back, silently staring outside for a long time.
Wait for me…
A knock came from outside the door.
Xiahou Shaoxuan came back to himself. A trace of coldness flashed through his eyes as he turned around and walked over to sit in the chair.
“Come in.”
The door opened.
Old Yuan came rushing in with a head of messy hair, his eyes red, looking like a madman.
If Xiahou Shaoxuan had not been able to clearly sense the aura coming from Old Yuan, given his ghostly appearance, Xiahou Shaoxuan probably would have taken him for a zombie and struck him with a bolt of lightning.
“Xiahou, Xia…”
Old Yuan rushed to the desk opposite Xiahou Shaoxuan. He braced both hands against the table, his eyes shining brightly, his entire body trembling. He was so excited that he could not speak.
Looking at the crazed Old Yuan, something seemed to occur to Xiahou Shaoxuan. His chest tightened.
“What is it?”
Old Yuan closed his eyes and pressed one hand firmly against his chest. After calming himself somewhat, Old Yuan opened his eyes and looked excitedly at Xiahou Shaoxuan.
“Xiahou boy, do you remember that bottle of liquid that Withered Wood gave me, the one that could purify the zombie virus?”
“You figured it out?”
Xiahou Shaoxuan’s hands tightened slightly.
“No.”
Old Yuan shook his head, but he quickly became excited again.
“Although I didn’t figure out how to purify the virus, through my research, I developed a special drug. This drug has an extremely powerful destructive effect on the zombie virus. Once a zombie is injured by it, the wound will be unable to recover.”
“Do you know what this means? This is humanity’s hope! The natural enemy of zombies!!”
Unable to recover?
Xiahou Shaoxuan’s eyes darkened.
Not noticing Xiahou Shaoxuan’s unusual reaction, Old Yuan continued.
“I developed a series of special firearms and put this drug inside them, turning them into weapons specifically designed to deal with zombies.”
“Old Yuan.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan interrupted Old Yuan’s endless chatter, speaking in a deep voice.
“Give you one day. How much of this drug can you produce?”
“Huh?”
Old Yuan froze.
“Wh-what are you planning to do?”
“I found Little Guang. I’m going to save him.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan truthfully stated the fact.
Old Yuan’s face tightened. His eyes, bloodshot from exhaustion, widened.
“You… you found him?”
“I want these drugs. However much you have, give me all of them.”
“But, but these are still experimental products. They haven’t been tested in actual combat. If something unexpected happens…”
“Isn’t this exactly the opportunity for actual combat?”
Old Yuan fell silent.
No one knew how much time passed before Old Yuan suddenly raised his head. His gaze was firm as he looked at Xiahou Shaoxuan.
“How much do you need?”
“I’ve arranged for us to depart the morning after tomorrow. Sixty firearms. As for the drugs… give me as much as you can. Whatever you can produce in time, I’ll take it.”
He had originally intended to leave first thing tomorrow morning. But if they had these weapons, their chances of successfully completing the mission would increase by fifty percent.
“Good! I’ll return to the laboratory immediately.”
As Old Yuan spoke, he turned and headed toward the door. When he reached the entrance, he seemed to remember something and turned back to warn him.
“These drugs cannot purify the virus. Be careful when you use them. If you are actually injured by those monsters, even if you manage to bring the person back in time, there will be nothing I can do.”
“I understand. Thank you.”
Xiahou Shaoxuan stood up and solemnly gave a military salute.
With these weapons, he felt much more reassured about the safety of the brothers under his command.
As for the zombie virus…
The space device Lian Qiguang had left behind when he departed was filled with bottle after bottle of dark blue liquid, neatly arranged and stacked together.
