Chapter 27
On the day of the death anniversary, the sky was clear, the sun was shining brightly, completely contrary to the scenes in movies.
Xia Leyang had thought that the female ghost couldn’t appear during the day. However, as soon as he entered the bathroom to freshen up, he saw the female ghost sitting on the sink, looking bored.
Although they had met last night, Xia Leyang still felt a bit uncomfortable. He reached out to grab his toothbrush and deliberately moved to the side away from the ghost to brush his teeth.
“Have you made up your mind?” Xia Leyang asked with unclear words as he brushed his teeth.
The female ghost floated over and sat next to Xia Leyang, sending a sudden chill over him, making him shiver involuntarily. “Can’t you…”
He couldn’t finish his sentence. Xia Leyang automatically closed his mouth before saying, “Stay away from me.” He didn’t say those four words because the female ghost was already pitiful enough, especially on her death anniversary. Xia Leyang decided to be gentle with her today.
“Can’t what?” The female ghost asked, twirling her hair with her index finger.
“Can’t you tidy up your hairstyle a bit?” Xia Leyang looked at the thick, curtain-like bangs, finding them increasingly annoying.
“Like this?” The female ghost raised her right hand, sweeping her hair to the side, revealing her entire face.
Xia Leyang spat out foam while glancing, thinking that the female ghost indeed had the looks of a mistress, very beautiful.
After a while, the ghost’s hand loosened, and the bangs fell back, covering half of her face again. Xia Leyang didn’t want to dwell too much on the bangs, wiped his mouth, and asked, “So, what do you want to do today?”
“Well…” The female ghost paused, her eyes rolling. She looked at Xia Leyang expectantly. “I want to have a hearty meal.”
Xia Leyang tilted his head, asking strangely, “Can you eat?”
“Of course!” The female ghost floated from Xia Leyang’s left side to the right. “The food from your partner is so delicious. Can you feed me this time?”
Xia Leyang almost dropped his eyeballs. He put down the mouthwash cup and sternly said, “No way! How can I feed you!”
“Why not?” The female ghost asked, puzzled. “This time we can go a bit deeper, and then you can enjoy it too.”
“Deeper?” Xia Leyang thought, it’s already deep down my throat, how much deeper can it get?
“We can use the bottom this time.” The female ghost lowered her voice, forming a circle with her left hand and a stick with her right, making an inappropriate gesture.
Xia Leyang blushed instantly, scolding, “Why are you always thinking of something inappropriate?”
Just as Xia Leyang finished speaking, the bathroom door was suddenly pushed open, and unfortunately, Shang Tingzhi walked in. He looked around and asked Xia Leyang, “Are you talking to the female ghost?”
“No!” Xia Leyang denied for some reason, feeling guilty, and glared at the female ghost on the side.
Shang Tingzhi didn’t press further. He loosened the belt of his pajama pants and walked towards the toilet. Xia Leyang was startled and asked, “What are you doing?”
Shang Tingzhi, while reaching for something, said, “Going to the bathroom.”
“You’re not allowed!” Xia Leyang hurriedly rushed to Shang Tingzhi’s side, holding his hand.
The bathroom was quite spacious, with a clear distinction between wet and dry areas. Shang Tingzhi going to the toilet on that side wouldn’t affect Xia Leyang at all.
Moreover, in a public bathroom with many people, there was no need to intentionally conceal anything. Shang Tingzhi couldn’t figure out what Xia Leyang was making a fuss about.
Xia Leyang, under Shang Tingzhi’s scrutinizing gaze, felt weak in his heart. Awkwardly, he said, “You, you go downstairs to use it.”
Shang Tingzhi asked, “Why?”
“Anyway, you’re not allowed to use the toilet here.” After saying this, Xia Leyang, with the female ghost enjoying the show, heard her whispering in his ear, “I’ve seen it before, you know.”
Xia Leyang turned his head sharply to the female ghost and exclaimed, “How can you, as a girl, be so… suggestive?”
The female ghost shrugged, “Blame me.”
Shang Tingzhi raised an eyebrow and asked Xia Leyang, “Is she here?”
Xia Leyang nodded, responding wearily, “Yeah.”
Shang Tingzhi adjusted his belt, “Then I’ll go downstairs.”
“Tsk, such a pity.” The female ghost floated to the toilet and sat down, lamenting, “Can’t eat, can’t watch. I’m so unlucky.”
“Can’t you be a bit more reserved?” Xia Leyang shouted in frustration.
“How about this?” The female ghost rolled her eyes, and Xia Leyang knew she was up to something. True enough, the ghost said, “Since you’re so unwilling, I won’t possess him. I’ll just watch from the side, how about that?”
“Watch???”
“Watch you two…” The female ghost gestured the inappropriate action again.
“Why should I let you watch?” Xia Leyang couldn’t bear it and yelled. He wondered if there was a generation gap or something, why was it so hard to communicate with this female ghost?
“Fine, won’t watch.” The female ghost pouted, pointing her index finger at Xia Leyang. “But don’t throw away the used condoms; collect the contents for me.”
Xia Leyang couldn’t believe his ears. He asked incredulously, “Collect for you…?”
“You said you’d accompany me on my death anniversary today.” The female ghost flicked her bangs sadly. “I can’t even fulfill such a small wish.”
“No way!”
Xia Leyang adamantly refused. With the protective talisman, the female ghost couldn’t force the issue. In the end, the not-so-serious death anniversary activity turned into a movie-watching activity for Xia Leyang.
He chose a 90s nonsensical comedy horror film, then ordered a delivery guy to buy some melon seeds for snacks. They sat in the living room on the first floor, enjoying the movie.
The film Xia Leyang picked was called “Ghost Training Camp,” featuring many famous old Hong Kong stars.
Hong Kong ghost movies were always both scary and funny. Xia Leyang burst into laughter at times, and at other times, he got scared and moved closer to the female ghost. Especially when the red-dressed female ghost finally appeared, he was too scared to look at the screen. He awkwardly said to the female ghost, “Don’t imitate her; it’s not good.”
The female ghost stared at the screen motionless, looking a bit strange. Xia Leyang waved his hand in front of her and asked, “Hey, what’s wrong with you?”
The female ghost withdrew her gaze and pointed at the screen with her finger. “I seem to know her.”
Xia Leyang glanced at the red-dressed female ghost. She was played by the very famous Hong Kong actress Anita Mui. Xia Leyang, not caring much, said, “I know her too.”
“I really know her.” The female ghost said anxiously, “She seems to be my friend.”
“She’s your friend?” Xia Leyang wanted to laugh. Anita Mui was a legendary actress. Even though she was in her fifties, she still had a charming presence. He chuckled and said to the female ghost, “If she’s your friend, then Maggie Cheung is my mom.”
The female ghost frowned slightly, “Oh, this name sounds familiar.”
“Of course.” Xia Leyang said, “They are famous female Hong Kong stars; who wouldn’t know them?”
“I didn’t know them from TV; I really met them.” The female ghost emphasized a bit anxiously.
Only then did Xia Leyang suddenly realize that the female ghost came from Hong Kong, and she might have actually met them. He asked, “Can you remember anyone else?”
The female ghost looked into the air for a while, and Xia Leyang waited expectantly. However, the ghost eventually said, “I don’t remember.”
Xia Leyang sighed and said, “Okay.”
After the movie, Xia Leyang stretched lazily, ready to play another one. The female ghost was listless, gradually becoming more transparent.
Xia Leyang soon noticed that something was wrong with the female ghost. He rubbed his eyes and took a closer look. “Why are you becoming more transparent?”
“It’s tiring to come out once.” The female ghost said dejectedly, “Thought I could have a big meal today, but this is it.”
Xia Leyang suddenly felt embarrassed. It was like inviting friends over for a party at home, and their evaluation of the party turned out to be: just this?
He scratched the back of his head and had a sudden bright idea.
“How about…” Xia Leyang said, not noticing that Shang Tingzhi had just come down from upstairs and was passing by the side door of the living room.
“How about you possess him,” Xia Leyang said seriously to the female ghost, “and then I’ll feed you Jiji?”
