Chapter 37

The sound of the trash can snapping shut with a click! was drowned out by the tremendous crash of the door being smashed open.

Luo Ran’s strength drained away, and he slumped to the floor.

“Luo Ran!” Lucas took a large step forward and caught him, frowning. “Where does it hurt?”

“Are you experiencing aftereffects from being in that confined space?”

Luo Ran was trembling slightly all over and didn’t answer.

He had almost been exposed.

How could he have forgotten that he was still in heat?

It was Lucas’s fault, too. He had blocked the doorway early in the morning, and then the two of them had gone straight to the amusement park. Luo Ran had completely forgotten to inject his inhibitor.

“Luo Ran?”

Seeing Luo Ran looking dazed, Lucas said, “I’ll call Shen Xiluo.”

Shen Xiluo was Lucas’s personal physician.

Then, as though he had thought of something, Lucas added, “I can also call Xia Zhi for you.”

“No need.” Once Luo Ran had recovered a little, he braced himself against the wall and stood up.

Lucas frowned and became a human support for him.

Luo Ran staggered to his feet, only to hear a series of startled exclamations coming from nearby.

Perhaps Lucas had kicked the door too loudly. Tourists and staff members from the surrounding area had all rushed over to see what was going on.

So when they entered, this was what they saw—

The door to the restroom cubicle had somehow come completely off its hinges and was leaning crookedly to one side. Inside, a tall man was holding a delicate-looking silver-haired man in his arms. The two were pressed close together, and the silver-haired man’s face was still flushed bright red. He looked as though he could barely stand.

…

Oh my.

The most terrifying thing was when the air suddenly fell silent.

“Ahem… ahem…” One of the staff members finally spoke up. “The door is broken and needs to be repaired! Everyone, please don’t stand here and obstruct the work!”

Only then did everyone come to their senses and disperse one after another.

Luo Ran: “…”

Once everyone had left, Luo Ran turned around and walked away with an expressionless face.

Lucas: “…”

W-was he angry?

Lucas hurried after him. “Luo Ran?”

Luo Ran said nothing. He simply folded his arms and walked ahead by himself.

“Luo Ran? Are you angry?”

Luo Ran smiled sweetly. “No.”

Lucas: “…”

Lucas asked, “Then why are you angry?”

Luo Ran fell silent again.

“…” Lucas followed behind Luo Ran in a daze. Luo Ran didn’t have any particular destination in mind, either. He simply wandered around while holding his juice.

“Luo Ran.”

“Luo Ran?”

“How about you just give me a beating?”

“Luo Ran.”

“Or should I buy you something?”

Luo Ran stopped in front of a carousel.

“If the general rides this, I won’t be angry anymore.” Luo Ran was still smiling sweetly.

Of course, it was the kind of smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

Lucas looked at the carousel, which was brightly colored, adorable, and accompanied by dreamy music, and fell into silence.

Damn it!

He was the mighty, battle-hardened general, feared across the land. Even if Luo Ran died of anger, died out here, or jumped straight off this place, Lucas would never set foot on that ridiculous thing.

…

Lucas said, “I’ll go buy the tickets.”

Luo Ran froze.

…He was actually going to ride it?

Luo Ran stared at him blankly. “You don’t need tickets… You can just get on.”

Hearing this, Lucas took a deep breath and climbed the little staircase with heavy steps.

Luo Ran: “…”

A tall, imposing man stood inside the rainbow-colored pavilion, looking ferocious and murderous as he selected his little horse.

No matter how one looked at it, the scene was utterly bizarre.

In the end, Lucas chose one that was relatively less flashy. He swung one stiff leg over it and sat down, placing both hands rigidly on the handlebars. His back was ramrod straight, and the expression on his face remained as stern as ever.

Luo Ran, showing absolutely no mercy, immediately pulled out his terminal and took a picture of Lucas to commemorate this historic moment.

Lucas gazed at Luo Ran with a brooding look.

Luo Ran could no longer hold back his laughter.

Lucas glanced down and saw Luo Ran laughing so hard that his eyes had curved into crescents. The loose strands of his silver hair swayed gently, making him look exceptionally beautiful.

Lucas couldn’t help smiling along with him.

Lucas jumped down and walked over to Luo Ran. “Not angry anymore?”

“I wasn’t angry in the first place…” Luo Ran said with a smile, turning his head slightly away.

“I got to see a different side of the general today.”

He had won a huge round this time.

So satisfying. So refreshing.

“Tsk.” Lucas snorted coldly before saying, “I’ll take you somewhere. It’s much more interesting than this place.”

Lucas took Luo Ran aboard the aircraft. The journey was fairly long, and they flew all the way to the outskirts of the city.

Looking out the window, Luo Ran saw nothing but lush green forests and grasslands stretching into the distance.

“General, where are we going?”

“Somewhere fun.”

“Oh…” Luo Ran asked curiously, “Have you been there before, General?”

He never missed any of Lucas’s schedules. In principle, if Lucas had been there before, Luo Ran should have known about it.

“I’ve been there twice. Both times were family gatherings hosted by the Aldo family.”

Once Lucas explained, Luo Ran understood. He had never accompanied Lucas to his annual family gathering, nor had he ever looked into its location. After all, it was the marshal and the others who organized it.

But everyone in the Aldo family, from the main branch to the collateral branches, was military personnel. And a family gathering held in a place like this…

Luo Ran glanced at the untouched natural landscape below. He thought to himself that if Lucas had brought him here during his leave just to train or go mountain climbing, then… there wouldn’t be anything he could do about it anyway.

After the aircraft landed, Luo Ran got out, prepared to accept whatever awaited him and braced for the worst.

…Huh?

However, when he actually saw what lay before him, Luo Ran was rather surprised.

“This is…”

Lucas smiled broadly. “A ranch.”

Before them stretched a vast expanse of grassland beneath a blue sky dotted with white clouds, bathed in warm, gentle sunlight.
