Chapter 17

This entry is part 17 of 211 in the series Reborn as a Wayward Heir

220 bucks?!

His parents worked at the silk factory—each of them barely made 310 yuan a month.

Instinctively, Wang Chuang grabbed Jiang Luo’s arm. “We’re really staying here? This expensive? This expensive!?”

Jiang Luo was in the middle of taking out money and glanced back at him. “?”

Wang Chuang’s eyes said: We’re staying HERE?

Jiang Luo countered calmly, “Where else?”

Then he flicked his gaze toward the arm being tugged.

Wang Chuang let go immediately. “Okay, fine, fine. We’ll stay. You’re paying anyway.”

Jiang Luo booked a business twin room—260 a night—and reserved three nights in advance.

After everything was paid for, the lobby manager personally escorted them to the elevator and even insisted on carrying Wang Chuang’s bag.

Wang Chuang looked uncomfortable and out of place; Jiang Luo looked like he’d done this a hundred times.

Inside the elevator, Wang Chuang’s eyes roamed everywhere—this was his first time riding one.

So this is an elevator? Fancy…
Huh, it doesn’t even shake. I always thought something hanging in the air would wobble…

Once they stepped out, he was stunned again.

Damn… so fancy?
What’s on the floor? Carpet?? It’s so soft! You just walk on it with your shoes? Doesn’t it get dirty!?

Inside the room, he kept marveling.

Whoa—so nice, so luxurious!?
Is that the bathroom? What’s that big tub for?

Wow~~!

After the lobby manager left and the door shut, he finally let out a full-throated exclamation. “Oh my god!!”

Jiang Luo changed into slippers and took off his coat. Seeing the reaction, he couldn’t help but smile.

He let Wang Chuang explore. Jiang Luo sat down on the sofa and finally said, “Fine for today. First time seeing the world—can’t blame you.”

“But from now on, whatever surprises you, keep the reaction in your heart. Don’t show it.”

“We’re out here to do business. If people can tell we’re a pair of country bumpkins, they won’t take us seriously.”

Wang Chuang maybe heard him, maybe didn’t.

He wandered in and out of the bathroom, circling nonstop. “What’s this tub for? It’s so white!”

Then: “These are slippers? Why are the soles so thin?”

Then: “The drinks on this counter—can we drink them? Do they charge extra?”

“Wow, there’s even an umbrella in this cabinet!”

Jiang Luo chuckled.

This wide-eyed curiosity—this only belonged to someone their age, just stepping into society.

Once Wang Chuang finished his exploration and sat at the edge of the bed, he finally asked the thing that had been bothering him: “So… where’d that business card come from? You opened a company? Since when?”

“And we’re really renting that car? A hundred a day? That’s robbery! How’d you even dare?”

“Where are we even going tomorrow?”

Jiang Luo answered each point calmly. “First, rein in your expressions and your eyes.”

“No one knows we’re only eighteen. But looking like this, people won’t suspect our identities—they’ll just think we’re too green to talk business.”

Wang Chuang snapped upright, corrected his posture, and sat properly like a good student.

Jiang Luo continued, “I had those cards printed a couple of days ago. As for the business license, I already paid someone back in Haicheng to get it processed. It’ll take time.”

“If you don’t have a company, you can’t make deals. Business deals require contracts. It’s company-to-company.”

“As for renting the car, the room, all the expenses—you don’t need to worry about any of it.”

“If I’m spending more, I have a reason for spending more.”

“Explaining now won’t help. You’ll understand later.”

“And again—expressions. Eyes. Control them.”

“No one’s handing over their goods to an eighteen-year-old who looks like he’s never seen anything in his life, right?”

“You stay steady—business stays steady.”

“Act sloppy, and no one will work with you.”

Wang Chuang nodded fiercely, absorbing it all. “Okay, okay, I got it. I’ll listen to you. You want me to go east, I won’t even think about going west to take a shit.”

Take a shit your ass.

Always talking about shit.

Jiang Luo kicked him lightly, amused. “Alright, go do whatever you’re doing.”

Wang Chuang immediately ran toward the bathroom. “I’m gonna try the tub!”

“I’ve never seen a tub like this—so people use this to soak? Damn!”

Jiang Luo called after him lazily, “You’re not calling your parents to tell them you’re safe?”

From inside, water running loudly, Wang Chuang shouted back, “After I soak! Let me try this tub first!”

“Damn, it’s so white. And smooth!”

Jiang Luo snorted, teasing, “Don’t end up doing your business in there.”
