Chapter 36

This entry is part 36 of 90 in the series Study God, Do You Need Inhibitors?

This situation… he’s drunk?

Gu Yang couldn’t help but laugh and cry inwardly.

Without paying attention, Lin Xiaoran actually ended up drinking alcohol, and he got drunk from a bottle of 3.5% alcoholic cocktail. If Gu Yang hadn’t witnessed it himself, he wouldn’t have believed it.

Fortunately, the private room was chaotic enough that no one noticed Lin Xiaoran getting drunk. Otherwise, the image of the cool and aloof male god might have been hard to maintain.

Gu Yang took advantage of this opportunity to find an excuse and left with Lin Xiaoran.

In late September, as autumn approached, the night breeze carried a hint of chill.

Gu Yang felt Lin Xiaoran’s wrist, which was cold. He turned to ask, “Are you cold?”

Being obediently led by Gu Yang, Lin Xiaoran raised his head to look at him. His eyes, clear and transparent as usual, seemed completely different in this environment. After blinking a few times, he seemed to understand Gu Yang’s question and shook his head, “Not cold.”

Then, he pursed his lips and looked at Gu Yang, his thick eyelashes fluttering. His fair cheeks, flushed with alcohol, looked incredibly beautiful.

Gu Yang felt a bit parched in the mouth. Unconsciously licking his lips, he forced himself to look away, silently scolding himself as a “fool” in his mind. He then continued to lead Lin Xiaoran forward.

Drunk Lin Xiaoran didn’t have any bad habits. On the contrary, he was especially well-behaved. Wherever Gu Yang went, he followed. This continued until they reached the place where they parked their bikes. As Gu Yang bent down to unlock the bike, Lin Xiaoran suddenly spoke up.

“Gu Yang.” His speech was noticeably slower than usual after drinking, with a hint of laziness.

Gu Yang turned back, “What’s wrong?”

“The song just now, I still want to listen to it,” he said, his clear eyes staring earnestly at Gu Yang.

“Hmm?” Gu Yang was surprised, but also inexplicably happy. He smiled and asked, “Why?”

“It sounds good.”

Unexpectedly straightforward, Gu Yang was momentarily stunned. Then the smile in his eyes softened as he realized that Lin Xiaoran, after drinking, seemed especially like a child, a very honest child who said whatever was on his mind.

He suddenly had a mischievous thought and looked at Lin Xiaoran with a smirk, asking, “So, am I handsome when I play basketball?”

Lin Xiaoran nodded without hesitation, “Mm.”

“And am I handsome?”

Gu Yang took advantage of the situation and asked further.

Lin Xiaoran’s clear eyes glanced at Gu Yang’s face, then nodded obediently, “Mm.”

Gu Yang couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride. He pushed further, “Am I the handsomest person you know?”

This time, Lin Xiaoran didn’t answer immediately. He lowered his eyelids, thought for a moment, then looked up at Gu Yang and nodded decisively, “Mm.”

His expression was inexplicably earnest.

“Haha…” Gu Yang finally couldn’t help but laugh. He didn’t know if he was so happy because of Lin Xiaoran’s answers or because Lin Xiaoran’s obedient appearance amused him. He reached out and pinched Lin Xiaoran’s cheek, barely managing to contain his laughter. Then, he spoke with a serious tone, “Lin Xiaoran, don’t drink outside next time. You might end up being sold off.”

Unfortunately, the studious genius, who was now drunk, reacted slowly, seemingly not understanding the meaning of the words. He looked at him with confusion and asked softly, “Still singing?”

Although his response was a bit slow, he remained persistent, circling around, still intent on getting Gu Yang to sing.

“Singing. But you sit first.” Gu Yang straddled the bicycle, patting the rear seat like he was talking to a child.

Lin Xiaoran obediently sat on the back seat.

“Sit tight!” Gu Yang reminded once more.

Lin Xiaoran nodded, hesitated for a moment, then obediently reached out and grabbed Gu Yang’s clothes.

Gu Yang chuckled, pedaling hard beneath his feet, riding the bike out, and humming the song Lin Xiaoran couldn’t forget.

“Met you by surprise, I didn’t realize

That my love would be forever

Tell me that it’s true, feelings that are new

I feel something special about you…”

Though different from when there was accompaniment, Gu Yang’s voice seemed even softer and more moving when he sang alone. In the quiet night, it didn’t sound like singing but more like whispering secrets to someone softly.

Hmm… even better than before, Lin Xiaoran thought drowsily, leaning his cheek gently against Gu Yang’s back and falling asleep.

The thin school uniform couldn’t block the warmth, and Gu Yang’s singing voice paused slightly, then continued humming, all the way home.

The bike stopped outside Gu’s house, and the drunken Lin Xiaoran still didn’t wake up.

Gu Yang felt a bit helpless, softly calling out, but there was still no response.

It seemed that Lin Xiaoran’s symptom of drunkenness was sleepiness?

Gu Yang had to lift him up by the waist and carry him into the house.

Probably because of his Omega status, Lin Xiaoran didn’t weigh much when carried, making it hard to imagine him being so fierce in a fight.

“Hey, what happened to Ranran?”

Upon entering, Aunt Wu greeted them, seeing Gu Yang carrying Lin Xiaoran without misunderstanding anything, first worried if something had happened to Lin Xiaoran.

“It’s okay, he’s just drunk and fell asleep,” Gu Yang explained.

“Oh, why did he even drink? Is he feeling okay?”

“He should be.” Gu Yang recalled Lin Xiaoran’s reaction and indeed, besides being slow, there didn’t seem to be any other issues.

“That’s good, but if he’s uncomfortable, we should have Dr. Zhang take a look.” Aunt Wu said while heading to the kitchen, then suddenly remembered something, turning back to call Gu Yang, “Yangyang, Ranran definitely can’t shower alone like this. Can you help him? Otherwise, sleeping like this all night will make him uncomfortable.”

Hmm…

This might be inappropriate.

However, Aunt Wu didn’t know that Lin Xiaoran was an Omega. Even if she did, she couldn’t bathe Lin Xiaoran herself. So Gu Yang didn’t say anything, just nodded and carried Lin Xiaoran upstairs.

It was indeed a relief when Lin Xiaoran was drunk. When awake, he was obedient, and when asleep, even more so—he just cuddled up quietly on the bed.

Gu Yang helped him take off his shoes, covered him with a blanket, then went to the bathroom to get a towel. Of course, he couldn’t actually bathe Lin Xiaoran, so he only intended to use the towel to wipe his face.

As he fetched a damp towel, Lin Xiaoran’s sleeping position changed. Wrapped in the blanket, only half of his face was exposed.

Gu Yang leaned in, gently pushing aside the blanket, intending to wipe his face. But as he did, Lin Xiaoran’s thick lashes fluttered, his eyes, still heavy with sleep, slowly opened. Meeting Gu Yang’s gaze, Lin Xiaoran, in his drowsiness, gave a gentle smile of recognition, his red lips lightly pursed as he softly uttered, “Gu Yang.”

Soft and lazy, with a hint of alcohol, his voice instantly touched Gu Yang’s heart, making it itch. His body moved before his mind, almost leaning in to kiss Lin Xiaoran. But just then, Aunt Wu’s voice interrupted, snapping Gu Yang out of his daze. He realized his lips were almost touching Lin Xiaoran’s, quickly jumping off the bed in a panic. His mind was a mess—what was he thinking, almost kissing Lin Xiaoran?

Was Lin Xiaoran going to think…

Huh?

Asleep again?

He’s asleep again?

While Gu Yang was grappling with his turmoil, Lin Xiaoran, the troublemaker, after stirring up his heart, turned over and fell asleep again?

Gu Yang didn’t know whether to be angry or laugh. Aunt Wu had already come in, holding a cup of honey water, seeing Lin Xiaoran lying on the bed, assuming Gu Yang had helped him bathe. She placed the honey water on the bedside table and whispered to Gu Yang, “You sleep in the next room. If he makes any noise in the middle of the night, I’m worried he might feel uncomfortable after drinking for the first time.”

“Okay.” Gu Yang felt chaotic inside but managed to keep a straight face and agreed.

After Aunt Wu left, he quickly turned off the lights, closed the door, and returned to his own room.

As soon as he entered, he headed straight for the bathroom. Stripping off his clothes, he turned on the shower, letting the water drench him from head to toe. Afterward, without bothering to dry his hair, he collapsed onto the bed, burying his head under the covers, trying to force himself to forget what had just happened. But with his eyes closed, all he could see in his mind was Lin Xiaoran lying beneath him, the uncontrollable urge to kiss him.

He turned over in the darkness, shifting to find a comfortable position to sleep.

He tossed and turned for most of the night, finally falling asleep just before dawn. But he had a strange dream. In the dream, Lin Xiaoran was talking to him, but he couldn’t hear anything, only seeing Lin Xiaoran’s rosy lips. As he looked, he moved closer, pressing Lin Xiaoran against the wall.

Confused, Lin Xiaoran looked up at him, “What are you doing?”

He finally heard Lin Xiaoran’s words clearly, but his gaze remained fixated on those rosy lips, unable to look away. He reached up and lightly touched Lin Xiaoran’s lips, asking, “Are your lips sweet? They look delicious.”

And then, unable to resist, he leaned in for a kiss…

When the alarm clock rang at six o’clock sharp, the hungover Lin Xiaoran finally woke up. Not having showered before bed, he felt uncomfortable with the sticky sensation on his body. He got out of bed, noticing the honey water on the bedside table, and then realized there was still a faint smell of alcohol on his clothes.

Had he been drunk?

His memory after getting drunk was fuzzy, but he could remember before that. He recalled casually grabbing an orange juice from the table and drinking it. It tasted a bit strange, but he didn’t pay much attention. After that, he couldn’t remember.

So that was alcohol?

Then how did he get back later?

It was probably Gu Yang who brought him back.

He silently reminded himself to thank Gu Yang later and headed to the bathroom to shower.

After showering and changing into dry clothes, he felt refreshed. He grabbed his backpack and went downstairs for breakfast.

Surprisingly, Gu Yang was already there, eating in the dining room.

As Lin Xiaoran approached, about to thank him, Gu Yang suddenly stood up, said, “I’m leaving first,” and walked away without finishing his half-eaten porridge, not even looking back.

Lin Xiaoran: “…”

With clear eyes, he watched Gu Yang’s departing figure, feeling perplexed. Was Gu Yang angry? Did he do something inappropriate to Gu Yang last night?
