Chapter 100

This entry is part 100 of 121 in the series The Male Supporting CEO Doesn’t Want to Be the Top Anymore

That night was destined to be sleepless.

Police sirens wailed through the streets. Paparazzi who had been following the story immediately took off in pursuit.

No joke—this was huge news, and they had to be the first to capture the hype.

It wasn’t just the paparazzi. The Dongfang mansion was in a wealthy district, and as soon as the sirens reached the area, other residents who were following the events noticed immediately.

The police car stopped in front of the Dongfang estate. Paparazzi and wealthy onlookers alike drew in a sharp breath.

The Dongfang family? Really?

Immediately, speculations ran wild. After all, the future heir of Dongfang Group hadn’t been decided. Dongfang Lie had been wavering between his newly recognized son and nephew, hadn’t he?

Looking closely at the trending content, they realized…

Dongfang Lie was planning to poison Dongfang Wan?

“Holy crap! That’s explosive!”

The chasing paparazzi quickly pulled out their laptops, ready to churn out articles in mere minutes to showcase the chaos.

By the time the police arrived at the mansion, Dongfang Lie had just returned—and was caught red-handed.

His heart lurched as he dialed his two bodyguards. If the young master’s statement held, he could escape unscathed.

The call connected—but the voice on the other end was calm and gentle.

“Hello, are you a family member of this phone’s owner? They’re currently at the hospital. Please come pay their medical fees. Also, they’ve had an incident with other patients, so you may need to come with the police…”

Click. The call ended.

The nurse’s smile froze.

What kind of people were these? Two idiots—sent to take an elderly woman, yet they caused a conflict with the hospital? Complete uselessness!

Dongfang Lie paced, grinding his teeth. He called his little lover, interrupting her cooing immediately.

“I’ll send you an address. Go to the hospital and bring that elderly woman home. Don’t let anyone notice!”

She protested.

“What? I’m pregnant! You want me to go to the hospital? What if the baby—”

“If the baby is gone and you fail, your life of comfort is over. Understand?”

For the first time, Dongfang Lie’s mask dropped in front of her; his voice was cold. She trembled but obeyed.

He sent the message and deleted it immediately. Just then, the police burst in.

Dongfang Lie slowly stood.

“I think I have the right to contact my lawyer first.”

Meanwhile, at a roadside food stall, the owner wiped sweat frantically and called his family back home.

“Honey, come quickly with the kids! Two people who look like celebrities just came in! We’ve got a crowd! Tonight’s business will explode!”

He also sent his assistants to nearby stalls to buy up all the ingredients, ensuring nothing ran out.

Quickly, he grilled a batch of lamb skewers, grabbed two crates of beer, and cheerfully brought them over to Yin Chen and his companions.

“Three handsome gentlemen, business is good tonight—here’s some food and drink for you to enjoy!”

The group stared in disbelief. Lin Yuhan burped, deep in thought.

Were they here to snack on gossip or to be fed like pets? His gaze swept over the third delivery of food and beer. Expressionless. Perhaps the owner was simply feeding them.

Zong Cheng quietly glanced at the latest batch too, then at Yin Chen. Not leaving? He understood—if they didn’t move, the owner might expect them to stay for the night.

Yin Chen smirked slightly, considering whether to propose a 70–30 split on tonight’s earnings.

Before he could decide, his phone started buzzing nonstop—messages, calls, the works.

“Are you being harassed?” Lin Yuhan asked.

Yin Chen smiled faintly. Zong Cheng’s voice was calm.

“No harassment. The Dongfang family is in trouble. Naturally, people want to gauge his stance.”

Lin Yuhan frowned. “Why would anyone check Yin Chen’s stance? He has nothing to do with the Dongfang family.”

“Of course. They want to see if I’m interested in taking over Dongfang Group,” Yin Chen replied, taking a sip of water.

“If this incident with Dongfang Lie becomes public, the company and stock market will be heavily affected. Taking advantage of it is just business instinct.”

Lin Yuhan thought silently—merchants were terrifying. But wait… if so, would Dongfang Group be finished?

He remembered the first time he entered the company, when he still had a decent relationship with Dongfang Wan…

No. Forget it.

Beer not tasty? Skewers bad? Even if so, gossip is delicious.

By 3 a.m., the trending topics were still boiling. The police debated releasing part of the truth, while the paparazzi had already posted their articles:

#Shocking! Who Tried to Kill His Own Nephew?
#Revealed! The Truth Everyone is Chasing!
#Why Did Police Sirens Wail Late at Night? A Stunning Conspiracy

Netizens rarely hesitated to click such clickbait—and once they read, they gasped:

“Holy crap? The CEO of Dongfang Group? That’s been a top company for decades!”
“Really him?”
“Terrifying! Didn’t Dongfang Group recently trend about the future heir? Originally the nephew was the heir, but suddenly the son appeared—chaos ensued!”
“Wild! So the CEO personally targeted his nephew? Shouldn’t it have been the son?”
“Wait—maybe we should tag the police. What if the CEO is trying to shield his son?”

Netizens flooded the police with alerts and questions.

The local police sighed. The truth was likely far more complicated than the youth online imagined.

Finally, Dongfang Lie was taken to the station. Dongfang Wan and Dongfang Feng faced him, their expressions revealing everything.

Dongfang Feng, unaware of the trending topics, was excited:

“Dad, did you come to take me home?”

Dongfang Wan coldly sneered. “I knew it. How could you do such a thing? You did it, didn’t you?”

Dongfang Lie, indifferent: “Looks like I failed in guiding you. Is this how you speak with your uncle? I had you learn to manage the company, and this is what you learned?”

Dongfang Wan’s laugh was icy.

“You don’t need to remind me with the company. Yes, I’ve been focused on the position. That position was promised to me. I’ve worked diligently at your side all these years. Then suddenly, you recognize a son—did you consider me?”

Dongfang Lie warned, “Even after recognizing Feng, isn’t my guidance over you real? You should be grateful!”

“Bah!” Dongfang Wan spat. “Dare you tell Feng about your pregnant little lover outside?!”

“What?!” Dongfang Feng exclaimed. Police eyes turned sharp.

Dongfang Lie’s heart sank.

If not for that brat… tonight wouldn’t have become such a mess.

The young master sensed the gaze and slowly lifted his head. Their eyes met—mocking, sarcastic.

Dongfang Lie’s heart jumped. He had a bad feeling.

The next second, the young master, tearful, knelt before him with a loud thud that sounded like bones breaking. Everyone was shocked. Dongfang Lie instinctively wanted to kick him away, but the boy grabbed his leg, wailing:

“I’m wrong! I know I’m wrong! Don’t harm my mother! I intended to drug Dongfang Wan, not the CEO! It’s all me!”

Just then, a police officer arrived, whispering a few words to another officer. The officer’s expression changed drastically as he hurried out.

“You!” Dongfang Lie’s hands trembled, his mind suddenly icy.

Something was off. Everything was off. Who sent this person? How could he know about his plan against the mother? Who was controlling all of this behind the scenes?
