Chapter 11

This entry is part 11 of 78 in the series The Male Supporting CEO Doesn’t Want to Be the Top Anymore

Zong Cheng felt a bit at a loss.

He sighed. “At a time like this, shouldn’t you be more concerned about your own safety? Who cares whether it’s a guy or a girl?”

“I know, I know. That’s why I already asked the tenant who just rented the apartment to stay away for a few days. That’s why I called you, Zong Ge, didn’t I?”

The person on the other end was still laughing and joking, not taking anything seriously.

Zong Cheng rubbed his temples.

“You rented out your place again? Why? You make tens of thousands a month as a streamer; it’s not like you need the money.”

“Pfft, every little bit counts, right? Besides, I think this new tenant is pretty good, Zong Ge. You know what? He’s really fun! To rent my place, he actually cleaned with his feet every day! Seriously impressive!”

???

Cleaned with his feet?

Zong Cheng was completely baffled.

“…You’ve actually raised your expectations for tenants to include using both hands and feet now?”

“Hahaha, no, no. His hands are injured, remember? And I said I wanted someone tidy, right? He told me he could clean with his feet! I swear, I let him move in immediately. I’ve never seen anyone clean with their feet before—really eye-opening!”

Hands injured?

Instinctively, Zong Cheng thought of the young man he had met last time.

…It can’t be that coincidental.

He shook his head.

“Setting that aside, are you sure this person is stalking you? Did you report it to the police?”

He tapped the table, trying to remind his unreliable cousin.

“Eh? Report it? But if the police come and he happens to leave, won’t it be awkward for me?”

What kind of ridiculous reason was that?

Zong Cheng laughed angrily. “Aren’t you afraid he could be a home-invading maniac, and you won’t even have time to call the cops?”

“…It’s not that easy to run into someone like that. Fine, fine, I know, I’ll report it.”

Hearing the reluctant voice on the line, Zong Cheng groaned.

After sitting for a moment, he suddenly stood up.

Forget it!

He still couldn’t relax, better go see for himself.

“It’s because my brother told me to call the police, not my idea…”

After hanging up, the young man glanced at the shadow lingering downstairs and decisively called the police.

“Hello, police? Here’s the situation. I’m a small streamer, and I noticed a suspicious person loitering outside my building for two days…”

“Mm-hmm, I live alone. I’m a little scared. Could you send someone over discreetly? I’m worried he’ll run if he sees them coming.”

“Alright, thank you, officer!”

Fifteen minutes later, two plainclothes officers arrived and indeed spotted a sneaky figure. Exchanging a glance, they approached from both sides and immediately subdued him to the ground.

“Police! Don’t move!”

What was happening?

Dongfang Wan was stunned.

The moment he struggled, he shouted, “What are you doing? Why are you arresting me?”

The officers twisted him slightly.

“Why ask? You’ve been acting suspiciously here. Tell us! Who are you, and what are you doing here?”

Dongfang Wan laughed in disbelief. “How am I suspicious just for being here? Are citizens no longer free?”

Why should these idiots care what he was doing?

The officers said sternly, “We received a report suspecting you of stalking someone. Are you a resident here? Show your ID.”

Suspicious behavior, hat and mask—obviously not someone harmless!

ID?

Dongfang Wan nearly popped his eyes out. He was just here to see Lin Yuhan. Why was he being treated like a criminal by these morons?

After struggling a few times and realizing it was useless, he reluctantly spoke.

“Let go! I’ll show you my ID. I’m not suspicious. I’m just here to see my boyfriend.”

Boyfriend?

The two officers exchanged a glance, suspicion mounting.

Wasn’t the person who called the police a young man? He said he was a streamer, but didn’t mention having a boyfriend…

Putting two and two together, they guessed almost perfectly.

This man must be the fan of that young streamer, probably a psycho fan trying to make him their boyfriend. They’d seen this type before.

“Officer, don’t believe him! I don’t have a boyfriend!”

The young man who had just seen the police detain the person ran down and overheard this, freezing in shock.

Are you kidding me?!

He was still a pure, innocent virgin!

Who the hell has a boyfriend?!

Dongfang Wan looked at him in disbelief.

“Who the hell are you? Who said it was you?”

Where did this person even come from? Mind your own business!

The young man was equally stunned.

“Aren’t you my obsessive fan?”

Although disappointed he guessed the wrong gender, now he wasn’t even a fan?

And hadn’t Lin Yuhan been asked to hide?

This was ridiculous!

Dongfang Wan understood, laughing angrily.

“Bullshit! Who the hell knows you? I’m Lin Yuhan’s boyfriend!”

“What?”

The young man was shocked.

“Lin Yuhan likes men? And he already has a boyfriend?”

Dongfang Wan stared at him.

“What do you mean?”

“He already has a boyfriend…”

The young man bit his nails, murmuring.

The two officers holding Dongfang Wan couldn’t keep their serious expressions from showing a hint of gossip.

This callout was really something!

The stalker was the roommate’s boyfriend, but the streamer didn’t know, and looked disappointed?

Their gaze silently fell on Dongfang Wan’s head, like looking at a vast green meadow.

“Tang Chen!”

Someone called out.

“Huh?”

Tang Chen instinctively looked up and saw Zong Ge approaching.

He froze for a moment, then whispered in complaint.

“I already said I’d report it. Why come running over? Just like my mom, so nosy. Tch.”

Zong Cheng slowed his pace.

He looked at the cousin in front of him, whose face screamed “deserves a beating,” and sneered, slapping him on the back of the head.

“What’s the matter? Don’t like seeing me? Think I’m meddlesome?”

“Oww—! That hurts!”

Tang Chen jumped, clutching the back of his head.

“If you knock some sense into me, let’s see how you explain it to my mom!”

Zong Cheng kept a straight face, even thinking: If you can, just try it.

“I think your mom would be thrilled, and probably book a flight to drag you back today.”

Tang Chen wanted to protest, but Zong Cheng turned to look at the person on the ground.

Seeing him, he was shocked.

“Young Master Wan?”

Dongfang Wan… here?

He glanced at the officers beside him. What was going on?

“Zong Ge, do you know him?”

Tang Chen peeked curiously from behind.

Zong Cheng looked at him, recalling the new tenant’s hand injury, and suddenly felt a headache coming on.

This kid really knows how to cause trouble.

Thinking carefully, Zong Cheng looked at the officers.

“Sorry, officers. I know this person. He probably isn’t stalking my cousin. Really sorry for making you come all this way. Could you release him first?”

The two officers nodded and released their hold.

Dongfang Wan shook them off and stood up, muttering a few curses under his breath. He cast a cold glance at Tang Chen.

Zong Cheng instinctively stepped in front of his cousin, ready to speak, but Dongfang Wan just swung his hand dismissively and turned to leave.

Zong Cheng watched his back for a moment, feeling an even greater headache coming on.

He had noticed last time that Dongfang Wan was impulsive. If he had confronted them directly, it would have been fine—but just walking away…

This grudge was definitely set.

…Well, whatever.

As long as they successfully partnered with the Yin Corporation, the grudge was already sealed.

Zong Cheng turned to glance at his cousin.

“And your roommate?”

Tang Chen thanked the two officers and watched them leave, then turned around.

“He said he’s staying at a friend’s place for a few days. I’ll call him later to come back.”

Better not let Lin Yuhan move in just yet.

Zong Cheng was about to speak when his cousin’s face lit up with excitement.

“Hey Zong Ge! That guy just said Lin Yuhan is his boyfriend. So Lin Yuhan is like me, right? I think I picked the right roommate this time! Someone to keep me company!”

Zong Cheng had words ready, but swallowed them. Fine, let him be happy.

“By the way, Zong Ge!”

Tang Chen leaned in. “I heard your company partnered with Yin Corporation? Congrats!”

Zong Cheng raised an eyebrow.

“You know about Yin Corporation?”

Tang Chen squealed.

“Do you look down on me? Of course I know! Yin Corporation is huge.”

He grinned mischievously.

“Is their CEO really awesome? Have you met him?”

Zong Cheng looked at him.

“Why are you asking that?”

This guy wasn’t the type to care about business matters—otherwise, he wouldn’t have left the family business to become a tiny gaming streamer.

“No reason, just curious.”

Tang Chen’s eyes darted around.

“Oh?”

Zong Cheng put a large hand on his head, gripping it like a little chick.

“Not telling the truth?”

“Ahhhh! It hurts! Okay, okay, I’ll tell you!”

Tang Chen shrieked.

He truly felt worse than Sun Wukong under the iron hoop—he swore Zong Cheng’s iron grip was worse than Tang Seng reciting sutras.

“Hmm?”

Zong Cheng released him, waiting for honesty.

After several attempts at wriggling his mouth, Tang Chen finally confessed.

“Didn’t I tell you? I might go pro soon. A newly-formed team contacted me. I heard their big boss is the CEO of Yin Corporation, so I wanted to ask you.”

“Team?”

Zong Cheng froze. “Are you sure?”

Someone like Yin Chen… would be interested in these things?

He found it hard to believe.

Seeing his shock, Tang Chen hesitated.

“W-well, that’s what they said. Zong Ge, do you know the CEO? Can you ask for me?”

Zong Cheng looked at him.

“I do know him…”

“Then help me ask! Just ask! If it’s true, I’ll join! Their offer is amazing!”

Going pro sounds so much more fun! Way more exciting than just streaming every day.

He tried to snatch Zong Cheng’s phone, but Zong Cheng stood stiffly, mind blank.

Call Yin Chen?

What about the sweater incident? Should he even mention it?

Tang Chen didn’t need him to handle things. He could manage on his own.

“Zong Ge! The phone! Give it!”

Tang Chen held the phone out.

Zong Cheng took it and opened his contacts.

Yin Chen’s name was right at the top.

So why on earth did he bring Yin Chen’s sweater home?!
