Chapter 16
Zhou Shaohui’s call was straightforward, “I’m out singing and drinking, come help me pay the bill, don’t tell your mom.”
He also gave Ye Zhi the address.
Upon hearing the address, Ye Zhi’s mind buzzed, because even someone like him, who rarely dined out and almost never drank outside, had heard of that hotel. He knew that the expenses there were extremely high.
The Ye family used to be able to afford such places, but now they no longer had that financial strength. Ye Zhi wondered why Zhou Shaohui would go there to drink. Maybe he was persuaded by someone else.
With his mind in a jumble, Ye Zhi only hoped that the balance in his salary card could cover Zhou Shaohui’s bill.
Despite his impatience, considering that there were other people at home, Ye Zhi moved lightly when leaving. It was only when he reached the courtyard gate that he realized he didn’t know how to get to that hotel.
It was too late; the circular line had already stopped running, and this was a villa area where even taxis didn’t come.
It seemed he had to rely on his legs to get there, and it would take over twenty minutes to even have a chance of catching a cab.
Ye Zhi closed the door without hesitation and walked out. Actually, there were several cars in the Huo family’s garage, and Huo Youqiao was also at home, but he hadn’t even thought about asking Huo Youqiao to drive him.
Perhaps even if he had this thought, Ye Zhi would have immediately dismissed it.
He didn’t like to trouble others, and Huo Youqiao was not someone he could afford to bother.
Surrounded by silence, the sky was so dark that the stars couldn’t be seen, only the light from the street lamps flickered. Ye Zhi tightened his grip on the communicator and walked quickly for about ten minutes. Suddenly, there were headlights flashing behind him, so he quickly moved to the side, almost stepping into the flowerbed.
If only he could catch a ride here.
Just as he thought this, the car behind him had already stopped a little ahead of him, and the window rolled down, revealing a handsome face with a hint of sharpness.
Ye Zhi was taken aback for a moment before Huo Youqiao spoke first, “Where are you going so late? I’ll give you a ride.”
Ye Zhi realized, “Did my leaving disturb you?”
He subconsciously wanted to apologize, but Huo Youqiao said, “I saw it from the balcony. Get in.”
Ye Zhi hesitated, then had some concerns, “What about Ran Ran? I can’t leave her alone at home. What if she wakes up and needs someone…”
Huo Youqiao said, “That’s why you hurry up and get in. I’ll drop you off and come back.”
He showed no impatience towards Ye Zhi’s hesitation, but his presence was too strong, and everything he said sounded like giving orders and making decisions for others. Ye Zhi wasn’t good at refusing people, so he didn’t dare to delay any longer and quickly went around to the passenger side, opened the door, and got in.
As the door closed, the space became enclosed, and as soon as Ye Zhi sat down, he smelled a faint fragrance in his nostrils.
A mixture of smoke and tea, not unpleasant, but rather giving a slightly dazed feeling. The factors in his blood also seemed to leap when he smelled the fragrance, making his heart beat faster. Ye Zhi quickly realized what it was.
The pheromone scent that belonged exclusively to him. Even though they usually used sprays to cover it up, a little would still leak out on the deepest nights.
“Where to?”
Ye Zhi regained his senses and quickly said, “The third floor of Central Hotel.”
Huo Youqiao asked directly, “Why go there so late?”
