Chapter 45

“Okay!” In order to take photos, Ye Zhi also brought Huo Ran’s children’s camera, which looked very cartoonish and cute, but the photo quality was surprisingly good, and Huo Ran also knew how to take photos. They took turns taking pictures, with Ye Zhi mainly taking pictures for Huo Ran, but Huo Ran took pictures everywhere, and at times, Ye Zhi unknowingly appeared in the frame too.

As Huo Ran indeed enjoyed thrilling activities, it’s just that she was still too young, so the thrilling activities available for her were limited, and all required adult supervision. Therefore, Ye Zhi, who had never been to an amusement park before, completely fulfilled his childhood fantasies and played many activities he had dreamed of as a child.

Three hours later, they began to have lunch in the picnic area.

They laid out a tablecloth with beautiful patterns. Ye Zhi first wiped Huo Ran’s hands with wet wipes before taking out the lunchboxes one by one. Every time he opened a box, Huo Ran would exclaim in surprise, looking eager to dig in. When she started eating, she didn’t hold back either, her cheeks puffed up like a chipmunk as she praised enthusiastically, “It’s so delicious, Zhi Zhi, you’re amazing!”

Ye Zhi couldn’t help but smile, speaking gently, “Slow down, don’t choke.” He poured her some water and wiped the corners of her mouth where there were stains.

After Huo Ran finished her meal contentedly, Ye Zhi began to eat slowly. Huo Ran stared at him and suddenly said, “If Daddy wants to find me a mommy, I want a mommy like Zhi Zhi.”

Ye Zhi’s throat tightened for a moment as the food in his mouth seemed to get stuck. It took him a while to swallow everything in his mouth, his face showing panic and unease as he stuttered, “I-I can’t… I’m not good enough…”

The child was too young to understand the meaning behind his words. She just had this simple thought and said it out loud. Then she was quickly attracted by a puppy running around nearby.

However, Ye Zhi couldn’t quickly regain his composure. His heart felt numb, and amidst the chaos, he felt a tinge of sadness.

He wasn’t worthy of Huo Youqiao.

The amusement park had recently opened a new area for interacting with small animals. Since it was still in the experimental stage and there were too many children visiting, they used a lottery system. Only the children who won the lottery could enter and play. If they didn’t win, they could only watch from the sidelines.

Almost every kind of animal cub was cute, whether it was a puppy, a rabbit, or even a pony, they all attracted the attention of all the children, so there was a long line at the lottery area.

“I want to go too!” Without hesitation, Huo Ran stood at the end of the line.

The line curved into a bend, and Ye Zhi reminded her, “It’s going to take a long time, and there’s no guarantee you’ll win. Ranran, are you sure you want to wait?”

Huo Ran nodded vigorously. “Sure! I really want to go in. I want to touch the little bunny’s fur.”

It took them more than an hour to reach the front of the line. When it was time to draw lots, Huo Ran was particularly nervous, her small hands rummaging in the box for a while before finally pulling out a ball.

“It’s blue. I’m sorry, you didn’t win. But don’t be sad, little friend. You can come and play next time. Maybe it’ll be open to everyone by then.” The big sister in the puppet costume was very gentle as she patted her head and handed her a lollipop.

This was a reward for the children who didn’t win. Every child got one.

Huo Ran was a little disappointed as she took the lollipop, looking expectantly at Ye Zhi. “Now it’s up to Zhi Zhi.”

Adults could also draw lots once. If they won, both of them could enter together.

Ye Zhi smiled apologetically. “Ranran, I might disappoint you. I’ve never won anything from childhood to adulthood.” His life was like a shade of Hui, and for twenty-seven years, he had never experienced surprise or luck. He once thought he had found his “luck,” feeling shy and happy about it, but then it was shattered, and he never hoped for it again.

“It’s okay! I believe in you!”

Ye Zhi smiled and reached into the box, grabbing a ball and pulling it out.

“Wow! It’s red! We can go in!” Huo Ran cheered.

Seeing the red ball in his hand, Ye Zhi was also stunned. He had never expected to be this lucky.

The two were led by the staff into the interaction area amidst the envious gazes of many children. They were sprayed with disinfectant, put on gloves, and then they could play with the animal cubs.

“They’re so cute, I love them!” Huo Ran became excited as soon as she entered, heading straight for the rabbit area she had set her sights on earlier. The fluffy little rabbits were only the size of her palm, but they already knew how to nibble on carrots. Huo Ran watched closely as the little rabbits ate, excitedly moving about as she watched.
