Chapter 9
Huo Youqiao said, “You eat first.”
Every word he spoke carried an undeniable authority, leaving Ye Zhi feeling somewhat at a loss.
Fortunately, Huo Youqiao released him, saying, “Finish your meal first, then make coffee for me. I’ll go upstairs first.”
“Alright… Do you want sugar?” Ye Zhi asked.
“Yes, I don’t like it too bitter.”
This answer surprised Ye Zhi.
He thought men like him would prefer their coffee black.
Even though the man had left, Ye Zhi still couldn’t relax. He quickly finished his dinner and then started making coffee for the man. He added milk and sugar to the freshly brewed coffee.
The Huo mansion was very large, with circular corridors on the second floor. Huo Youqiao’s study was opposite to where Ye Zhi and they had lived before. Knowing he might come, the door to the study wasn’t closed tightly, so it opened with a gentle push.
The study was spacious, resembling those model studies seen on TV programs, with a large desk surrounded by bookshelves filled with books.
Huo Youqiao wasn’t reading documents but communicating with someone. Ye Zhi hadn’t noticed at first, but when he realized, he instinctively wanted to leave. However, Huo Youqiao had already seen him. He waved and then pointed to a spot on the desk with his finger.
He wanted Ye Zhi to put the coffee cup there.
Ye Zhi quietly walked in and placed the cup down. Just as he was about to leave, Huo Youqiao lightly tapped the table with his fingers.
Ye Zhi didn’t understand, but the next moment, he had a clue.
Huo Youqiao said, “Causing such trouble, fooling around outside, don’t you want to come back and explain?”
His tone wasn’t the usual business-like coldness; instead, there was a hint of impatience, and his brows furrowed slightly.
There was a response from the other end, and Huo Youqiao said, “Don’t forget, you’re married now.”
Just this one sentence, along with the fragments of words leaked from the communicator due to the quiet environment, told Ye Zhi who the person on the other side was.
“If you choose to get married, you should take responsibility for the marriage,” Huo Youqiao added.
Ye Zhi couldn’t hear what his husband replied, but he knew it was definitely not something he wanted to hear.
After hearing the response from the other end, Huo Youqiao’s brows furrowed even deeper. His next words were an order, “Come back tomorrow!”
After a moment, Huo Youqiao cut off the communication.
Ye Zhi stood there feeling at a loss. He had a bad habit of always keeping his head down, whether facing company leaders or his parents. With his fringe a bit long, when he lowered his head, he couldn’t see his eyebrows, only a slightly raised nose, round and fair. Feeling nervous, he didn’t dare to raise his head until Huo Youqiao thanked him, and then he looked up in astonishment, quickly shaking his head. “No need to thank me.”
Huo Youqiao said, “I’ve seen what Acheng did today. I’ll talk to him properly when he comes back tomorrow and make sure he straightens up.”
Ye Zhi wanted to say “No need,” but he swallowed the words. In the end, he just murmured softly, “Thank you.”
But this matter didn’t materialize. Huo Youqiao suddenly had to go on a business trip, and Huo Youcheng didn’t come back either.
