Chapter 31

Under Xiao Yi’s guidance, Zhou Qi immediately ordered his subordinates to launch the acquisition plan for Guangyu, and the results were evident just two weeks later.

“Snap!” Chen Yuguang slammed a stack of files on the table and angrily scolded his own son, “What’s going on? Three of them left in one week! What kind of ungrateful people have you been nurturing?”

Chen Shaoguang was sweating profusely. Today, another popular artist under the company had expressed a desire to leave. Including him, Guangyu Media had lost five of its top-tier artists in the past two weeks. Strangely, each of them could afford substantial breach of contract fees, and none of them mentioned signing with a new company.

From a contractual perspective, as long as they could pay the breach of contract fees, the company had no right to inquire about their new affiliations. However, in this situation, it was clear that someone was intentionally trying to sabotage Guangyu, and Chen Shaoguang didn’t need to guess to know it was Xiahong.

“Dad, please don’t worry. Once we finish our movie, those people won’t have a chance to come back,” Chen Shaoguang said, clenching his fist.

“Make a movie? I think you should wake yourself up with a slap! Last time, you almost dragged the company down, and it took a lot of effort to appease the people below. Now you want to make a movie again? Do we even have the energy and resources for that? At this rate, everyone will leave, and what can the two of us do without any talent left?” Chen Yuguang was frustrated. He had wanted to gradually hand over the company he had built with his own hands to his son, but his irresponsible son had been running the company into the ground over the years, forcing him to continue managing the mess even at his age.

In reality, he was well aware of who was behind all this, but they couldn’t afford to provoke Xiahong. Moreover, the acquisition terms they offered were quite tempting. If it weren’t for his son’s strong opposition, he would have sold the company long ago.

After venting his anger, Chen Yuguang calmed down a bit. After all, his son was his own flesh and blood, and he had to support him. “It seems Xiahong is determined to acquire us this time. They’ve already sent me the contract. After the acquisition, our positions won’t change, and we’ll still have some decision-making authority. I’ve discussed it with the people below, and they are quite satisfied with Xiahong’s contract. With Xiahong’s resources, the company’s future prospects will be even better. You don’t need to worry too much.”

Chen Shaoguang, who had been submissive just moments ago, suddenly raised his voice with excitement. “I don’t agree! We can’t sell to Xiahong no matter what!”

Chen Yuguang’s anger flared up again. “I thought you didn’t want to sell for my sake and for the company’s sake! It turns out it’s for your own benefit! I haven’t retired yet, and I still have the final say in this company! The day after tomorrow, Xiahong will come to sign the contract, and you can’t oppose it!”

In the kitchen, Fu Yu watched as Xiao Yi prepared the ingredients for dinner. They were planning to make Italian tomato meat sauce pasta, and Xiao Yi was busy chopping tomatoes.

“What can I do?” Fu Yu asked.

Xiao Yi turned to him with a smile and said, “You can be in charge of eating.”

Fu Yu felt a bit unwilling and said, “I want to help. Let me try?”

After some thought, Xiao Yi put down the knife, took a clean glass bowl from the cabinet, and placed the chopped meat and seasonings in it.

“Here, mix this.”

Fu Yu obediently walked over and used chopsticks to stir the mixture.

“Good, like that,” Xiao Yi said, leaning against him from behind and whispering softly in his ear, “Yu Yu, you learn quickly.”

Fu Yu’s ears felt a bit itchy, and he moved away slightly. But Xiao Yi took the opportunity to press closer, his large hand holding Fu Yu’s wrist and slowly moving upwards, covering his hand completely.

“Are you going to let me do it?” Fu Yu asked helplessly.

Xiao Yi rested his head on Fu Yu’s shoulder, his fingers slipping between Fu Yu’s, their fingers interlocking in an intimate and affectionate gesture.

“I don’t want to cook anymore,” Xiao Yi muttered. “I just want to hold you like this.”

Fu Yu was about to say something when his phone, which was placed on the nearby countertop, suddenly rang.

He saw the caller ID and moved away from Xiao Yi discreetly, then answered the call on speakerphone.

Chen Shaoguang’s dejected voice came from the other end of the line, “Fu Yu, I need your help. Can you meet me in person? It’s important.”

“Is it about borrowing money? I already told you, I might not be able to help,” Fu Yu said.

As he spoke, he glanced at Xiao Yi, who was smiling mischievously and getting closer. Fu Yu was worried that Chen Shaoguang would detect something unusual, so he moved the phone a bit farther away.

“No, that doesn’t matter anymore. I have something else to discuss,” Chen Shaoguang said.

“Can’t you discuss it over the phone? I’m quite busy right now.”

Indeed, the kitchen was now completely filled with Xiao Yi, who had pressed himself against Fu Yu. His arms supported Fu Yu on both sides, and his eyes gleamed with a mischievous light. He nuzzled Fu Yu’s cheek affectionately.

Fu Yu placed his hand on Xiao Yi’s shoulder and whispered, “Give me a moment,” which only seemed to embolden Xiao Yi further. The gentle teasing turned into tender kisses, as his warm lips traced the delicate hairs on Fu Yu’s face. With strong arms on both sides, he slowly moved upward, embracing Fu Yu’s slender waist.

Chen Shaoguang had no idea about the scene unfolding on the other end of the call. He pleaded, “It’s really important. Can you come right now?”

Xiao Yi lightly bit the lobe of the person in his embrace and blew a warm breath into his ear. “You’re not allowed to go.”

Fu Yu’s five fingers suddenly tightened, causing Xiao Yi’s shirt to wrinkle. He felt an itch in his ear, an itch that extended to his heart.

After regaining his composure, he said into the phone, “I’m sorry, but I have some free time tomorrow.”

Chen Shaoguang let out a sigh of despair and said, “Okay, then. Tomorrow at noon, I’ll be waiting for you at the XX Grand Hotel.”

Fu Yu managed to say a brief “okay” before Xiao Yi sealed his lips with another kiss. He immediately ended the call, and in the next moment, he was lost in the softness of Xiao Yi’s mouth. Their lips and tongues danced in a passionate embrace, and in the quiet kitchen, all that remained were the intermittent sounds of their kisses and breaths.

Dinner and other matters could wait.
