Chapter 43

The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains and gently illuminated the room. There were a few noisy birds outside the window. Xiao Yi slowly opened his eyes and was momentarily startled by the unfamiliar furniture arrangement in the room. At that moment, the person in his arms moved slightly.

He immediately looked down and saw Fu Yu, who was still asleep with his eyes closed, breathing steadily. His exhaustion was evident, and there were several red marks on his neck and shoulders, left from the sucking and biting from the previous night.

The memories of last night, which had stirred his emotions and desires, rushed back to Xiao Yi’s mind, and he swallowed hard.

After fantasizing about this for so many years, his self-control had slipped, and he had indeed been quite rough with Fu Yu. He had originally intended to let him go after their first time in bed, but he couldn’t resist the temptation and had pushed him against the wall for a second round. By that time, Fu Yu’s legs had gone completely weak, and he obediently wrapped them around Xiao Yi’s waist, hugging Xiao Yi’s neck. Even though he couldn’t endure any more, he only bit Xiao Yi’s shoulder to suppress his moans, making it all the more enticing.

Xiao Yi, who had fantasized about this scenario countless times, didn’t expect that the cold and aloof Fu Yu would actually agree to it, and he was so seductive.

Perhaps it was because his gaze was too intense, but Fu Yu’s eyelids fluttered slightly. He opened his eyes just a crack, glanced at Xiao Yi, and then nestled in closer, closing his eyes to sleep.

Xiao Yi bit his lip and repeated in his mind, “Take it easy; don’t be too beastly.” He froze, keeping his body still, and spent the entire morning in mental agony.

Fu Yu only woke up near noon, and because his body was sore, he had to call his secretary to let her know he wouldn’t be going to the office today. Xiao Yi was at his house, bustling around, serving tea and food. Fu Yu couldn’t stand watching him fussing over everything and said, “Stop it. I can take care of myself. You can go now.”

Xiao Yi was reluctant. “I put in so much effort last night, and now you want me to leave?”

Fu Yu ignored him and went to the kitchen to find something to eat. Xiao Yi hugged him from behind, letting him rest comfortably against his body, and whispered in his ear, “Yu Yu, on a scale of one to ten, how would you rate my performance last night?”

“Nine.”

“Where did I lose one point?”

“Too big,” Fu Yu replied succinctly, dropping those two words. Despite being intense, Xiao Yi knew how to control himself and avoid causing him harm. He had cleaned himself up in the morning, so there was no discomfort except for the fact that his size was really excessive and quite demanding.

Xiao Yi buried his head in Fu Yu’s shoulder and lamented, “Is this something I can control?”

Fu Yu’s hair tickled him slightly as he reached out to scratch it, and a faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

When Zhou Ying called, Fu Yu suddenly realized that he had been so preoccupied with himself that he hadn’t checked on her condition. Thankfully, Zhou Ying explained that her boyfriend wasn’t seriously injured, and Al got them home safely, even calling the family doctor from the Xiao family to attend to their minor external injuries.

Zhou Ying had also cleared up the misunderstanding with her boyfriend. She had given him a stern lecture, using a combination of persuasion and coercion. He was now obedient and the two of them were as loving as before.

She asked with concern over the phone, “How are you two doing? Xiao Yi didn’t bully you, did he?”

Indeed, he had been “bullied” quite intensely, and Fu Yu felt a bit embarrassed as he recalled it. “Well… we’re doing well. He’s been very kind to me.”

After the phone call, Fu Yu turned to see Xiao Yi, who had been pretending to watch TV but had been eavesdropping the whole time. He sighed in resignation and sat down next to him.

“I told her that we’re just friends, but you still haven’t explained your situation with Lan Lingling.”

Xiao Yi, feeling guilty, recounted the whole story of what had happened. He had initially thought Fu Yu would scold him for being immature, but after hearing everything, Fu Yu said, “I was too slow to notice your feelings. In the future, if you want to tell me something or if there’s something you want me to do, just tell me directly. I don’t want any misunderstandings between us.”

Xiao Yi’s heart softened immediately. He tightly embraced Fu Yu, saying, “I won’t let you go again.”

After returning to the company following his leave, Fu Yu faced the curious and meaningful gazes of his subordinates. Despite wearing a meticulously tailored suit with all buttons done up, he couldn’t hide the several red marks on his neck. Xiao Yi showed no restraint in showing up, and even Fu Yu himself noticed. However, it was summer, and he couldn’t possibly wear a scarf to conceal them.

The female employees resumed their animated discussions, marveling at how determined Fu Yu’s partner was.

The cooperation project between East Construction and the Xiao family had essentially concluded. Still, as the investor, Fu Yu’s work had just begun. The hotel had been completed and was set to open to the public the following year. They had already received many reservation orders, and it was expected that the hotel would be bustling with guests once it opened.

A month later, as part of the hotel’s pre-opening promotion, the Xiao family held a banquet in the hotel’s banquet hall. Dignitaries from various sectors attended, as it was rumored that the Chairman of the Xiao family would personally be present. If they could strike up a conversation with him and earn his favor, it would undoubtedly be highly rewarding.

As a designer and investor in the hotel, Fu Yu was naturally invited to the event. However, he didn’t have the qualifications to enter as a guest of honor, as East Construction, while a prominent firm in the architectural design industry, still couldn’t compare in terms of capital and influence to the industry giants attending.

Xiao Yi had initially wanted to attend with him, but he was called away by his grandfather, who happened to be the Chairman of the Xiao family. So, Fu Yu had to attend the event alone.

After presenting his invitation and passing through a series of strict security checks, he entered the magnificent banquet hall. He had visited this hotel countless times and had witnessed his company’s design plans gradually become the luxurious, top-notch hotel it was today. He felt a sense of accomplishment.

The room was filled with guests. Men were holding highball glasses, chatting and laughing, while women were elegantly dressed in evening gowns, their laughter melodious. Fu Yu was accustomed to such scenes and had no intention of engaging in conversations, so he found a quiet corner to sit in. Xiao Yi had told him he would contact him if the matter was resolved, but there was still no sign of him.

While he was checking his phone, a middle-aged man sat down next to him and initiated a conversation. “Hello, I’m the General Manager of XX Industries,” he said, offering a business card.

Out of politeness, Fu Yu accepted the card and exchanged his own. “East Construction Design?” The man raised an eyebrow. “Is your company the one responsible for designing this hotel?”

Fu Yu nodded slightly. “Yes.”

The man looked him up and down and his gaze became somewhat intriguing. “Your company must be making a fortune. Not only did you secure the design contract, but you also became an investor. May I be so bold as to ask how Mr. Fu managed to achieve this?”

The man’s tone made Fu Yu uncomfortable, but he politely replied, “It’s just good luck. Xiao’s family extended the olive branch, and the benefits were substantial, so I naturally didn’t refuse.”

“Extended the olive branch? Well, everyone knows that the Xiao family has always made their own fortune. When did they become so generous? If Mr. Fu doesn’t want to say, that’s fine,” the man said, thinking Fu Yu was being tight-lipped and trying to provoke him. Moreover, XX Industries was much larger than a small design firm, and even though East Construction had become the Xiao family’s partner, it was still a minor player. They didn’t dare to offend such a big conglomerate.

To his surprise, Fu Yu remained unfazed, effectively confirming his assumptions.

The man was infuriated, and the moment Fu Yu walked in, he had noticed him. Not only him, but many people in the room had cast their eyes on this unfamiliar young man. However, Fu Yu seemed unaware of his own exceptional charm. Even though he sat in a corner, he still drew attention.

This man, who always appreciated beauty, decided to take the initiative but had a change of heart upon learning Fu Yu’s identity.

It was said that the responsibility for this hotel project had been handed to the Xiao family’s young master, Xiao Yi, and Fu Yu was around the same age. He had a reputation for enjoying nightlife, so maybe Fu Yu had easily obtained the investor status by getting close to Xiao Yi.

The more he thought about it, the more he believed this was the case. He regarded Fu Yu with disdain and sneered, “Mr. Fu sure has a high profile. Well, with connections to the Xiao family, you probably wouldn’t even consider small companies like ours anymore. I won’t disturb you.”

With one remark, people in the vicinity turned their heads, looking curiously in their direction. Fu Yu glanced at the man, his expression calm and unimpressed. “Alright, take care.”

The man was left fuming but was about to make a scene when a cold voice interjected, “You’re not being fair with your words.”

Fu Yu saw that it was Xiao Yi, and his expression immediately softened. Xiao Yi walked up to them, dressed in a formal evening suit that showcased his superior and imposing figure. His air of indifference added to his commanding presence.

“Mr. Fu is young and accomplished. In less than two years after taking over the company, he doubled its performance. Even if he didn’t collaborate with our Xiao family, his future is undoubtedly limitless. The Xiao family is currently in need of such talent, and our cooperation is not about who got the upper hand but a mutually beneficial, two-way choice.”

Fu Yu found it amusing but said nothing. Xiao Yi had clearly turned East Construction into an investor just to get close to him, and he was now shamelessly using this grand and noble reason. It was truly admirable.

Upon seeing Xiao Yi, the man’s face turned various shades of red and white. He realized he had offended this unpredictable young master and could only offer a quick apology before discreetly making his exit.

Xiao Yi paid no attention to the inquisitive gazes of those around him and walked up to Fu Yu, smiling gently. “I’m sorry I’m late.”

Fu Yu shook his head, indicating that it was not a problem. Xiao Yi hesitated for a moment and then said, “My grandfather would like to meet you. He’s upstairs.”

Fu Yu could read the hidden message in Xiao Yi’s eyes and nodded earnestly. “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
