Chapter 50

Su Bin pushed the cart into the aisle where Allen and the others were seated, and he noticed Jin Fei winking and making faces at him.

Lily’s dessert cart was ahead of him, and she hurriedly approached their table, clearly trying to get closer to Ellen. What caught Su Bin by surprise was that she spoke in English instead of the broken Cantonese she had been attempting earlier.

Why was she speaking English? Well, there was no need for an explanation. It was because she only had eyes for Ellen. The way she looked at him, her expression… It seemed like she was about to drool!

…Ah, he couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. He wanted to order a candle for Lily’s boyfriend!

Lily noticed that the three handsome guys were not paying attention to her. In fact, two of them were looking in Su Bin’s direction, seemingly more interested in the dumplings on his cart. As for the foreign guy, he didn’t even lift his head and seemed indifferent, flipping through the menu on the table.

Lily felt disappointed and repeated her spiel in Cantonese in a dry manner before preparing to leave…

But then, Allen suddenly raised his head and called her back, saying, “Sorry, could you repeat the last dim sum you mentioned?”

Lily turned around excitedly and stared at Allen’s face, her eyes filled with anticipation. She asked, “Sweet… flaky pastry! Would you like to try it?”

Allen smiled and requested, “Could you please say it in Mandarin?”

Lily was taken aback. She found it strange that Allen wanted to know the pronunciation in Mandarin, but she complied and said, “Tian~ su bing~!” She even enthusiastically explained what the “tian su bing” was.

In fact, “tian su bing” was just the Chinese name for “wife cake,” a traditional sweet pastry from the Chaoshan region in Guangdong. It had a thin crust and a rich filling, sweet but not overly so.

This dessert was commonly sold in some Hong Kong-style restaurants, but using the name “wife cake” for it in a foreign country would confuse the customers. Hence, it was translated as “sweet flaky pastry.”

After listening to the explanation, Allen smiled and said, “Sure, please bring me a serving of the sweet flaky pastry.”

Lily was ecstatic, feeling like she had just sold herself. She quickly brought a plate of it to Ellen…

Su Bin: “…” When Allen asked Lily to say the dish name in Mandarin earlier, he was wondering when Allen had started understanding Chinese. But he quickly realized that “su bing” sounded similar to his name, and at home, both Jin Fei and Cheng Zhe would often call him by variations of “bingzi” or “su bingzi.” Allen had heard it several times and probably remembered.

However, Su Bin couldn’t be sure if Allen ordered the sweet flaky pastry because of the name’s resemblance to his name or if it was just a coincidence… If it was the latter, it would be… quite a peculiar sense of humor!

Jin Fei, who had no interest in sweets, kept staring in Su Bin’s direction with a mischievous smile on his face, probably already thinking of teasing words!

After Lily left, Su Bin nervously pushed the cart towards their table and said, “Hello…”

Jin Fei burst into laughter and said, “I’ve been wondering why I haven’t seen you these past few days. If it wasn’t for Allen telling me you were working here, I would have thought you went back to scavenging trash!”

Su Bin: “…” It was indeed Allen who told him…

Jin Fei continued, “Come on, quickly introduce us to the delicacies on your cart.”

Delicacies? Su Bin had to use Cantonese to name the three types of dumplings…

Jin Fei looked puzzled and asked, “Nuo mi… gai? What does ‘gai’ mean?”

Su Bin replied, “Chicken.” (=_=)

Jin Fei burst into laughter, “Hahaha! Give me a ‘gai gai’!”

Su Bin: “…” Could he pretend not to know this joker, the extravagant Jin?

Yang Cheng Zhe was also observing Su Bin’s appearance and smiled as he said, “You really do all sorts of jobs. Aren’t you afraid of getting caught…”

Su Bin thought about Allen’s threat from last night and trembled, looking at Yang Cheng Zhe with a pleading expression, silently begging him not to say anything.

As he served the plate of sticky rice chicken, Su Bin also observed Allen’s expression. However, Allen didn’t look at him and instead kept his eyes down, cutting the… sweet flaky pastry on his plate with a knife.

Su Bin: “…” Does sweet flaky pastry need to be cut with a knife? QAQ

Even if it was a foreigner who wasn’t accustomed to eating with hands, wouldn’t using a fork be enough?

Su Bin felt a growing sense of dread and said, “Please enjoy your meal” before tremblingly pushing the cart away.

As he met up with Lily ahead, she was still muttering to herself excitedly, “I’m going to faint~ I’m going to faint~ He’s so perfect! He looks like he walked out of a manga~~ So domineering, ahhhhh~!”

Su Bin wiped his forehead, thinking, Miss, you already have a boyfriend. Is it really okay for you to be like this? (Fangirling)

Lily’s eyes were filled with hearts as she said, “Don’t you think he’s super perfect? He’s like a character from a manga~~ So cool, ahhh~!”

Su Bin wanted to advise Lily not to get too excited. Her fangirling tendencies were even more severe than Sun Yujie’s… But wait, what does “gongqi” mean? (⊙?⊙)

Lily clutched her chest with one hand and pushed the cart with the other, walking unsteadily while chanting, “Dan~ ta~ liu~ lian~ su~ cha~ shao~ su~ tian~ su~ bing~”

Su Bin: “…”

After completing another round, Su Bin encountered his roommates again. Normally, customers might order the same dish twice, like spare ribs in black bean sauce or chicken feet, but they would never order two rounds of buns because buns were quite filling.

However, Su Bin didn’t expect that when he passed by this time, Jin Fei called him over, saying, “Hey, Su Bing, give me another serving of that shy shy bun.”

Su Bin: “…” It was clearly a char siu bun, right?

Glancing at the plate of sweet flaky pastry in front of Ellen, he noticed that Allen hadn’t eaten any of it. Instead, he had cut all three round pastries into small pieces!

…So he was still upset, huh? Orz… He actually wanted to dismember me. How cruel! QAQ

Usually, by the time Su Bin started his third round, the customers had been replaced by a new batch. However, Allen and the others hadn’t left. They were leisurely chatting, enjoying their dim sum, drinking tea, and occasionally glancing at the busy Su Bin.

The stark contrast and the stimulation were making Su Bin dizzy…

Gradually, even Lily noticed that something was amiss. She approached and asked, “Hey, hey, have you noticed that the handsome foreign guys at that table have been looking at you?”

Su Bin: “Yes, I’ve noticed…”

Was Allen also looking at him? No, he wasn’t. He seemed to be focused on cutting the sweet flaky pastry…

Lily’s face was filled with excitement as she whispered to Su Bin, “Especially the guy wearing the Rolex watch. He’s dressed head to toe in designer brands. He seems really rich!”

Su Bin: “Yes, he’s very rich…”

Lily: “He keeps looking at you! And he’s looking at you with a mischievous smile!”

Su Bin: “I know…”

Lily looked at Su Bin strangely and let out a weird “hehehe” laugh.

Su Bin felt a chill run down his spine. What happened to this girl? She seemed perfectly normal before. Why is she acting like she’s possessed by something?

The dessert cart activity ended at three in the afternoon, and Su Bin was assigned to wash dishes for a while. When the number of customers decreased, he was called out to serve tables.

It was already past four o’clock, and Su Bin thought that Allen and the others had left. But when he stepped out, he found them still there!

Each of them had a drink, and there were barely touched dishes on the table. When they saw Su Bin come out, they all looked over with mischievous smiles… Jin Fei’s expression seemed to say, “Oh, oh, oh, he’s here again! Yay, we get to see him again!”

Su Bin: “…” Could they be any more bored?

Jin Fei snapped his fingers, and Lily, who was collecting plates not far away, instantly gave him a hungry wolf-like gaze.

As Su Bin approached their table, the Rolex-rich guy said something to him, but with that smile and that look, there was no way he was ordering food! Who smiles like that when ordering food? Red, hot, hazy…

Su Bin didn’t dare to chat with Jin Fei for too long, afraid of giving away any clues. He quickly scribbled something on the order sheet and took it to the bar… He ordered a beer for Jin Fei.

“Michael, we’re out of beer. Can you go to the warehouse and bring over two cases?” the bartender said.

Su Bin went to fetch them, and Lily, seeing the Rolex-rich guy’s gaze following Su Bin, became so excited that she was about to faint… He, he, he must be interested in Michael! Hehehe, hahaha…

Su Bin quickly brought over two cases of beer and handed one to Jin Fei.

Lily went to collect plates near their table and happened to hear the rich guy teasing Michael…

Jin Fei: “Hey, young man, I never thought you could carry two cases of beer at once! You must have been born with super strength!”

Su Bin: “…”

Jin Fei: “When you were born, did a auspicious cloud come from the sky and turn into five big words…”

Su Bin: “What?”

Jin Fei: “P-o-w-e-r!”

Su Bin: “Haha…”

Oh, oh, oh, the handsome guy was amused! Haha, so cute! Lily was completely convinced of the “seducing people” skills of the Rolex-rich guy… She was already imagining several BL stories of a tyrannical CEO falling for a waiter!

But Su Bin didn’t have such luck. This time, during the conversation with Jin Fei, the supervisor noticed and immediately shouted Su Bin’s name, indicating that Su Bin was about to be reprimanded.

Lily looked nervous, but she saw the rich guy snap his fingers with a smug smile.

The supervisor noticed the shining gold watch on the rich guy’s hand and immediately scurried over…

“Is there anything you need, sir?” the supervisor asked with a fawning expression.

The rich guy pointed at Su Bin and said, “This guy is my younger brother. Can you let him sit and chat with us for a while? I’ll cover his wages during this time.”

Supervisor: “Um…”

The rich guy raised an eyebrow and impatiently tapped the table with his hand.

The supervisor wiped off some sweat and said, “Okay…”

Lily’s nose started bleeding, and she convulsed before collapsing.
