Chapter 22

This entry is part 22 of 39 in the series Hermit Crab

After being kissed by Wei Yuhuan, Xie Xiaojiang’s mind was in chaos. He was honest and shook his head, but his brain was still a mess.

“Don’t understand?” Wei Yuhuan raised an eyebrow, feeling more confident after realizing that Xie Xiaojiang didn’t dislike kissing him.

Xie Xiaojiang looked at him bewilderedly. His lips and tongue were still burning from Wei Yuhuan sucking. He unconsciously licked them, as if trying to get rid of the feeling of being branded. What should he do? He actually didn’t dislike it, and his heart was racing… This was too embarrassing!

Wei Yuhuan stared at him, took one of his hands, and held it tightly. “Because I like you, I want you, and I’m pursuing you.”

“…Fuck!” Xie Xiaojiang felt goosebumps all over his body. Now not only his lips but his whole face was burning.

Because he had a baby face and was not tall, Xie Xiaojiang was not a very popular type in high school. Even during his time at “Hanbao,” although he got along well with the girls, they mostly treated him like a little brother. No one had ever pursued him.

Moreover, at a young age, Xie Xiaojiang had the pressure of supporting his family. He didn’t have the energy to get into relationships. Compared with those losers who dreamed of marrying into wealthy families or becoming rich by marrying a wealthy woman, Xie Xiaojiang, who came from a rural background, was much more down-to-earth and realistic. He needed money to get married, but he had neither money nor skills. He also had a younger sister to support. With what capital could he enter into a romantic relationship?

Therefore, he had very little experience in this area. He couldn’t even figure out if he could accept a man. This was too contrary to his understanding of societal ethics. But he clearly didn’t dislike Wei Yuhuan’s kiss.

“Gege…” Xie Xiaojiang called out to Wei Yuhuan with a trembling voice, feeling twisted and tangled.

(Translator’s note: Gege means elder brother)

What should he do? What should he say? No one had ever taught him what to do when a man confessed to him, and this man even said he would support him financially, pay for his education, and nurture him. This was such a huge temptation. Should he feel happy about it?

“Hmm?” Wei Yuhuan leaned in again, not giving Xie Xiaojiang any time to think. He lowered his head and kissed him again.

Xie Xiaojiang’s waist was firmly held. He wanted to hide, but at this moment, Wei Yuhuan’s fingers reached into his hair, rubbed his scalp, and caressed the back of his head. Xie Xiaojiang’s scalp tingled, and he let out a sensitive moan. His whole brain seemed to explode, filled with dazzling lights.

Facing such an experienced and skilled player in the game of love, Xie Xiaojiang was completely defenseless!

Every nerve in his body was trembling with excitement, every cell was quivering with sensitivity. He had never known that kissing could feel so good, and he felt like he was about to float away…

The hand that Xie Xiaojiang had grabbed onto Wei Yuhuan’s arm in an attempt to resist gradually turned into a grasp for support as the kiss deepened.

When Wei Yuhuan let him go, Xie Xiaojiang almost looked unsatisfied as he opened his mouth and breathed heavily, unable to come back to his senses.

“If you don’t mind, can I be someone you like too?” Wei Yuhuan looked at him and gently hooked his nose, saying softly, “Be with me, Xie Xiaojiang.”

Xie Xiaojiang’s mouth was slightly open, and suddenly he felt a flutter in his heart.

He wasn’t a woman, so there was no such thing as being taken advantage of, and Wei Yuhuan’s offer was so tempting that Xie Xiaojiang was happy beyond words. For someone who had struggled to make a living at the bottom of society, concepts like “dignity” were really nothing but a joke, especially when Wei Yuhuan was so good to him and said that he was pursuing him, not some messy relationship…

He had heard that people in the city were very open-minded, and Xie Xiaojiang felt that he had to let go of those conventional thoughts. So what if two men were together? He didn’t dislike being intimate with Wei Yuhuan, so what reason did he have to refuse?

Xie Xiaojiang hung his head, stuttering, “I’ve never been in love before, and I don’t know how to be in love with a man, but if it’s you, Yu Ge, I can try.” After saying these words, Xie Xiaojiang blushed so much that he could almost drip blood.

(Translator’s note: Yu Ge means Elder Brother Yu)

Wei Yuhuan laughed heartily, hugged him tightly, and rubbed his head. His laughter was full of joy.

Xie Xiaojiang buried his face in Wei Yuhuan’s chest, and the difference in their heights and body sizes gave him a strange feeling of snuggling in the other’s arms. It was a bit weird, and he didn’t feel like a manly man at all. Instead, he felt like a weak person who needed protection. But he inexplicably enjoyed this feeling of being cared for, just like when he woke up in Wei Yuhuan’s arms that morning, it made him feel happy.

Xie Xiaojiang’s hands hung in the air for a few seconds, and finally, he slowly and quietly hugged the other person back.

Afraid of scaring Xie Xiaojiang, Wei Yuhuan did not have sex with him that night.

No matter how much of a “smart” or “cunning” impression he had left on Wei Yuhuan before, his awkward reaction during the kiss showed that he was too naive when it came to sex.

Wei Yuhuan even felt that Xie Xiaojiang may not have realized what kind of decision he had made and had unwittingly “sold” himself.

But this was just as well, as he could slowly teach and guide him.

When Wei Yuhuan took Cong Yuan to bed, he had spent a long time under the moonlight, and for Xie Xiaojiang, he would only have more patience. After all, he liked him so much that he had even made a “lifetime” promise to him.

And the development of this matter had already gone smoother than Wei Yuhuan had expected. Before confessing, he wasn’t even sure of Xie Xiaojiang’s sexual orientation, and he took a chance based only on their previous incidental physical contact, judging that Xie Xiaojiang didn’t dislike it. They could have easily fallen apart if Xie Xiaojiang had just turned the other way, and the obstacles to Wei Yuhuan pursuing him would have been much greater. Unexpectedly, Xie Xiaojiang was so easy to “fool,” and Wei Yuhuan couldn’t help but laugh.

At night, Wei Yuhuan held Xie Xiaojiang in his arms and went to sleep. His big hands naturally roamed over the other’s body. Xie Xiaojiang was very uncomfortable and nervous, not knowing where to put his hands and feet.

Wei Yuhuan comforted him and said, “I’m just touching you. I won’t do anything else tonight.”

Xie Xiaojiang dryly responded with an “oh” and still felt very nervous.

Wei Yuhuan lovingly kissed Xie Xiaojiang’s forehead and said, “I like you and naturally want to kiss you, hold you, and hug you, but I’ll give you time to get used to it. Let’s take it slow.”

Xie Xiaojiang’s heart was pounding, and he slowly tried to sort out his thoughts. He asked in a small voice, “When did you start liking me?”

Wei Yuhuan smiled and said, “Probably when I was watching the surveillance video?”

Xie Xiaojiang’s cheeks flushed, and he finally understood why Wei Yuhuan had wanted to pour him drinks at Han Bao. He should have guessed earlier, as Wei Yuhuan had looked at him a little strangely then. “You’re kind of perverted, you know,” Xie Xiaojiang whispered.

“Perverted?” Wei Yuhuan laughed and teased him, “I actually think this way of meeting is quite romantic. Do you know how Qi Muying described you? He said you’re a ‘hermit crab’ and even gave you a nickname, ‘Little Crab’.” Wei Yuhuan pinched Xie Xiaojiang’s cheek and said with a sneer, “Little Crab, you should be grateful that you’re so cute. Otherwise, I would have caught you and sent you to the police station. You wouldn’t be able to come out for three to five years.”

Xie Xiaojiang shrank his neck and felt a bit scared. “I didn’t study much. Don’t trick me. Will I really have to stay for that long if I just secretly stay here for a few days?”

“What do you think?” Wei Yuhuan was still playing with him. This charge is punishable by up to three years under the law, and Xie Xiaojiang’s crime is not serious. He would at most be held for six months. But Wei Yuhuan had to teach him a lesson to prevent this foolish guy from making the same mistake again. However, Wei Yuhuan thought to himself that now that he’s protecting Xie Xiaojiang, he probably won’t have the chance to make another mistake.

Xie Xiaojiang was silent for a while and then asked, “Yu Ge, will you really let me continue my studies?”

Wei Yuhuan said, “Hmm, don’t you want to go to college?”

As soon as he mentioned this topic, Xie Xiaojiang became a bit excited. “Of course I do, but…but I’ve forgotten most of what I learned in high school. Do I have to take the college entrance examination next June? I only know English, and I only read it occasionally. I don’t know how much I can still score.”

Wei Yuhuan patted his back and comforted him, “Don’t worry. You don’t have to take the college entrance examination. I’ll look for some connections with several universities in S city and help you get enrolled through investment.”

Xie Xiaojiang asked, “What is an investment enrollment?”

Wei Yuhuan said, “Well, it’s when you invest a sum of money in the school, and then they accept you as a student.”

Xie Xiaojiang exclaimed, “Will it cost a lot of money?”

Wei Yuhuan said, “No, for a better school, it’s only one or two million.”

Xie Xiaojiang cried out in shock, “One or two million!?” This was still considered not a lot of money?!

“Wei Yuhuan rubbed his head and chuckled, ‘You think a million or two is too much? Even with connections, it’s not easy to get into these schools. With so many wealthy people in China, do you think anyone can just invest and get in? If that were the case, the rich kids at prestigious schools would be all over the place. Actually, your situation might be easier if you study abroad. It’ll cost about the same over four or five years, but since I’m currently in China and flying back and forth for a long-distance relationship is too much trouble, you have to study in S City.’

Xie Xiaojiang was stunned and couldn’t say a word. For wealthy people, these were just numbers…numbers…numbers…

‘But is it worth it for you to spend so much money for me to go to school?’ Xie Xiaojiang was conflicted. ‘I could prepare for the college entrance examination and take it again.’

Wei Yuhuan took his hand and said, ‘Whether it’s worth it or not is for me to decide. Since you’re thinking about it, you might as well start thinking about what major you want to study. It’s already the end of the year, so even if you want to transfer to a different school, you probably have to wait until next fall. But the sooner you think about it, the sooner you can start preparing.’

Xie Xiaojiang should have refused, but the temptation of going to college was too great. He finally had this opportunity, and he didn’t want to let it go so easily. He had always known how ruthless society could be. Instead of playing high and mighty now, it was better to accept Wei Yuhuan’s kindness and repay him in the future.

Xie Xiaojiang quickly made up his mind and asked, ‘What did you major in, Yuhuan?’

Wei Yuhuan replied, ‘Finance for my undergraduate degree and business management for my master’s.’

Xie Xiaojiang was resolute, ‘Then I want to study finance too.’

Wei Yuhuan raised an eyebrow, ‘Why?’

Xie Xiaojiang replied, ‘I want to make big money like you in the future.’

Wei Yuhuan thought to himself, ‘If you follow me for the rest of your life, you’ll have more money than you can spend. Why bother making money?’
