Chapter 57
Shen Yan didn’t remember how he left the hospital. He was in a daze, not even noticing when Ling Sicheng said goodbye and left.
Once he got into the car, he slumped into the seat, staring out at the rapidly moving scenery, his mind in a chaotic mess.
He was pregnant!
Really, this was more shocking than waking up and finding himself in a novel.
As a normal man, he had never imagined that one day he would be pregnant—his belly would grow, and in ten months, a little life would be born from him.
When that child was born, what would it call him?
Would it call him “mom”? But he was a man, shouldn’t he be called “dad”?
Ugh, actually, whatever it calls him, it would feel weird, right? What man could give birth to a child?
But the fact was, he was pregnant!
He didn’t know whether to blame the original owner for being too eager or blame Su Yunzhe for not using protection. Actually, he should probably blame himself. He hadn’t figured out what was going on, and yet, he went to bed with Su Yunzhe without any protection.
Now what should he do?
The more he thought about it, the worse his headache became. Plus, pregnant people were naturally more tired, and after getting upset with Duan Yang earlier, he ended up falling asleep against the window.
When he woke up, Su Yunzhe was already carrying him into the elevator.
Shen Yan, still dazed, nestled against the man’s shoulder. As he looked at Su Yunzhe’s sharp, handsome face, a strange resentment welled up inside him. He leaned in and bit Su Yunzhe’s neck.
Su Yunzhe sucked in a breath at the pain but didn’t move, instead obediently bringing his neck a little closer to make it easier for Shen Yan to bite.
Shen Yan reluctantly let go, still irritated. “You bastard, why didn’t you use a condom? Why did we get pregnant on the first try? I’m a man, I don’t want to have kids!”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t expect this either.”
Su Yunzhe had never imagined that Shen Yan had undergone fertility treatment.
Shen Yan had been running away for months, and when Su Yunzhe finally tracked him down, Duan Yang had beaten him to it.
After months of frustration, Su Yunzhe couldn’t deny his anger, but more than that, he just wanted Shen Yan so badly. For the first time in almost thirty years of his life, he found himself losing sleep, obsessing over someone, unable to control his body’s response.
When he found Shen Yan, he didn’t want to think about anything else—he just wanted to take him to bed.
Using a condom wasn’t something he cared about.
Who knew this would happen?
Su Yunzhe never expected Shen Yan to end up pregnant, so when the situation caught him off guard, he was completely unprepared.
“Hmph, is saying sorry enough? Try being the one pregnant. Do you have any idea how painful pregnancy is, how much giving birth hurts? I don’t care, you’re having a baby too, and you’re going to the doctor tomorrow for an abortion!”
Shen Yan was irritable, and because of the pregnancy, his emotions were even more unstable. He spoke in a completely unreasonable manner.
Su Yunzhe, filled with guilt, was completely obedient, nodding. “Alright, I’ll go with you. Tomorrow, I’ll take you.”
“You…” Shen Yan felt all his anger dissipating, and he fell silent.
Su Yunzhe, though, was extra careful because of the pregnancy. When Shen Yan stopped speaking, he immediately asked in concern, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Shen Yan puffed his cheeks and glared at him. “It’s not that I’m unwell, it’s that I’m pissed off! Don’t talk to me, just let me be alone for a while.”
With that, he wrapped his arms around Su Yunzhe’s neck and closed his eyes, refusing to talk.
He looked angry, but he still held onto Su Yunzhe tightly. This left Su Yunzhe feeling torn—he wasn’t sure if he should feel heartbroken or sweet. All he could do was carefully carry Shen Yan back home and take good care of him.
That night, Shen Yan finally agreed to speak to him, mainly because Su Yunzhe had gone to great lengths to prepare a meal that catered to his appetite.
For the past few days, Shen Yan hadn’t felt well, and nothing seemed appetizing. He thought it was just his stomach bothering him, but now he realized it was likely the pregnancy that had altered his tastes.
That evening, Su Yunzhe made a sour and spicy dish that Shen Yan suddenly found irresistible. He ate with satisfaction, and after finishing, he didn’t feel like throwing up. His mood improved significantly, and he looked at Su Yunzhe more favorably.
“Hey, I’ve got a question for you,” he said, his mood lighter now that he had food in his stomach. “Why were you so polite to Duan Yang today?”
With a fruit knife in hand, Su Yunzhe cut some fruit and handed it to him. “I wasn’t polite. I didn’t say anything, did I?”
“Hey!” Shen Yan, stuffing fruit into his mouth, glared at him. “You know that’s not what I mean. Duan Yang was being crazy today, and with your temper, you should’ve taken care of him. Come on, what’s your plan?”
Su Yunzhe sat down beside him, gently brushed his hair, and spoke in a calm yet serious tone. “Yanyan, let’s just leave Duan Yang out of it, okay?”
“Exactly what do you want to do?” Shen Yan was worried that Su Yunzhe might do something illegal, so much so that he stopped eating his fruit and gripped his hand tightly.
Su Yunzhe gently squeezed Shen Yan’s hand in return, smiling as he reassured him. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything illegal. I’m just doing what he wants—sending him to prison.”
“Is that really all?” Shen Yan pressed, still suspicious.
Su Yunzhe chuckled helplessly, “Of course! What kind of misunderstanding do you have of me? Have I ever done anything illegal?”
Shen Yan was momentarily speechless.
The truth was, Su Yunzhe was a very upright person in Shen Yan’s experience.
But Shen Yan couldn’t tell him that he knew how Su Yunzhe’s story would end because he had read the novel, so he still felt uneasy.
He could only give a nervous smile and say, “I’m just reminding you. No one should break the law, right?”
“Right, you’re absolutely right!” Su Yunzhe didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he focused on something else, “But you, I heard you’re going to sue Duan Yang. You’re not opposed to it anymore?”
Shen Yan looked at him in surprise. “Opposed? What am I supposed to oppose? Last time, I didn’t pursue the lawsuit mainly because of Old Master Duan. I thought if Duan Yang agreed to the divorce, we could avoid making things worse for him. But if Duan Yang is going to dig his own grave, then I can’t stop that. And…”
He instinctively rubbed his flat stomach. “There’s your baby in here! Am I supposed to let the kid be labeled a bastard? No, this can’t be delayed any longer. I don’t care if Duan Yang goes to jail or not, but I need to get out of this marriage as soon as possible!”
“Alright! If my wife says so, I’ll make sure to get it done.”
Su Yunzhe had expected Shen Yan to try to stop him, which is why he didn’t mention that once he saw the trending news, he had already made up his mind to send Duan Yang to prison.
He never expected Shen Yan to agree so quickly.
Shen Yan, being pregnant, was prone to getting sleepy, and after eating, he felt like resting. He pushed the remaining fruit plate towards Su Yunzhe. “I can’t eat anymore. You have it. I’m going to take a shower.”
As they left the restaurant, Shen Yan only then realized—why was he thinking about whether his baby would be labeled a bastard?
Had he already subconsciously decided to keep the child?
No, wait!
He had never thought about it that way!
Immediately, he turned around and shouted at Su Yunzhe, “Su Yunzhe, I’ve thought of something. I don’t want this baby. I’m going to have an abortion tomorrow!”
That’s right!
Who says you have to give birth just because you’re pregnant? If everyone had to have children once they were pregnant, then how would the professional abortion clinics survive?
Moreover, it was said that the earlier the abortion, the simpler the procedure. He was only half a month along, so it should be a straightforward minor surgery.
Yep, tomorrow it is!
Once he had made up his mind, Su Yunzhe came out of the restaurant and looked at him with some surprise. “But hospitals won’t perform an abortion on a man. Unless there’s a confirmed problem with the child, they would require a professional to issue a written statement before performing the procedure.”
“Huh? What… why?”
Shen Yan was stunned. In his previous world, ads for painless abortions could be found everywhere, even in alleys, and even regular hospitals would perform the procedure.
Su Yunzhe’s gaze fell on his face, his expression darkening.
This was just like this afternoon at the hospital. Shen Yan had actually forgotten about the fertility treatment he had undergone, which wasn’t something that would typically happen to someone with normal intelligence and memory.
And now, once again.
A man could only become pregnant because of the fertility procedure.
Therefore, when a man undergoes the procedure, he is considered to have prepared himself for having children.
Even though the success rate for men was not very high, it was common knowledge that once a man is pregnant, they cannot simply have an abortion unless there is a serious issue with the fetus, such as death or deformity. In that case, a professional would need to provide a certificate for the abortion.
With the increasing number of men becoming pregnant, this law had become standard knowledge.
But Shen Yan, inexplicably, didn’t know this, and was shocked when he heard it.
Something didn’t seem right.
Unfortunately, Shen Yan’s mind had never been particularly quick, and now that he was pregnant, it was even slower. After hearing Su Yunzhe’s explanation, he could only grumble that the law was too inhumane and then resignedly went upstairs to take a shower.
Once Shen Yan disappeared around the corner of the staircase, Su Yunzhe smiled lightly. What did it matter? The man he had fallen for was right in front of him—Shen Yan.
He turned away, pushing aside all of Shen Yan’s strange behaviors, and made a call to his lawyer to begin the process of suing Duan Yang.
It was then that he found out about Duan Yang’s latest stunt.
Duan Yang had been stirring up trouble online again. While people were debating whether he had really fallen for Shen Yan and wanted to win him back, Duan Yang posted the original owner’s diary online along with an emotional essay. In the post, he claimed that after reading the diary, he had an epiphany and realized he had already deeply fallen in love with Shen Yan.
He went on to say that after reading the diary, he understood for the first time how deeply someone could love him, and he refused to believe that Shen Yan, who had loved him so much, would change his mind.
Some “helpful” netizens even compared the diary with Shen Yan’s published books, claiming that the writing style was very similar, suggesting that the diary must have been written by the same person.
Soon after, some so-called professionals weighed in, saying that after reading the diary, it was clear that someone who could write like that wouldn’t change their feelings so quickly.
The speculation online started to swirl, suggesting that Shen Yan had only left because he had been hurt by Duan Yang and that Su Yunzhe was merely a substitute.
The narrative, aided by some online influencers, was even shifting towards urging Shen Yan to forgive Duan Yang and give him another chance.
After hearing this report from his subordinate, Su Yunzhe sneered. Duan Yang was really asking for it!
Fine, if Duan Yang wanted to play games, Su Yunzhe would play along.
He hung up the phone, not bothering to look at the trending hashtag about Shen Yan’s diary. He certainly didn’t believe that Shen Yan still loved Duan Yang and thought Su Yunzhe was just a substitute, but he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t get angry upon reading those words. So, it was better to keep his eyes away from it.
Meanwhile, Shen Yan had finished his shower and was getting ready to sleep. Out of habit, he checked his Weibo and saw “Shen Yan’s Diary” trending at the top. He clicked to read a bit of it.
What the hell?!
He shot up from the bed and hurried downstairs. He found Su Yunzhe standing on the balcony, smoking, and his heart sank.
Could it be that he really believed this nonsense? Why else would he be smoking?
Shen Yan rushed over to explain, “Su Yunzhe, if I told you those diaries weren’t written by me, would you believe me?”
