Chapter 3
Fan Xing thought he was hallucinating and looked at the other person, “Huh?”
In the clear eyes, there was still a hint of embarrassment that hadn’t completely faded, and now there was an added sense of confusion. His eyes blinked rapidly, like an innocent and easily deceived white rabbit.
He Qingmo pinched Fan Xing’s flushed cheek like a white rabbit, then let go and said, “It’s late, go to sleep.” After speaking, he turned and went upstairs.
Fan Xing came to his senses and realized what was about to happen, causing him to freeze again. His heart raced, and he had to use all his willpower to resist the urge to escape.
He knew he couldn’t escape; he had agreed to this.
He had mentally prepared himself for this. When he agreed to get married, he knew it wasn’t just a performance. From now on, he and He Qingmo were a real couple, and they would do everything that couples do, including being intimate.
However, this didn’t stop him from feeling nervous, fearful, and a deep-seated resistance from within himself to be with someone he didn’t like.
But he had agreed to this, hadn’t he?
He bit his lip hard, forcing himself to go upstairs.
The master bedroom was at the end of the second floor. When he arrived upstairs, the door was already closed.
Fan Xing had a fleeting sense of hope that maybe he didn’t need to go in. He looked at the guest room across the hall and thought he could sleep there instead.
But he quickly squashed that glimmer of hope. He couldn’t forget that he was here as part of a deal to please He Qingmo’s family. If he took the initiative to go to the guest room, it might upset He Qingmo, and his mother would be angry.
Taking a deep breath, he lightly knocked on the bedroom door. His voice trembled slightly out of nervousness, “I… I’m coming in.”
There was no response from inside, so he assumed it was okay and pushed the door open.
He Qingmo was already in bed, leaning against the headboard and reading a book. His posture had caused his bathrobe to become slightly disheveled, revealing a large, muscular chest.
Fan Xing quickly averted his gaze, feeling awkward and standing by the door.
He Qingmo seemed a bit surprised. He had expected the nervous “white rabbit” to take the opportunity to go to the guest room when he saw the bedroom door closed.
Then he patted the space beside him, “Come here.”
Fan Xing was still extremely nervous at this point, but since he had made up his mind and agreed to this, he decided not to overthink it. He walked over to the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down beside He Qingmo, closing his eyes, waiting for what was about to happen.
However, all he heard was the sound of He Qingmo flipping through his book.
Fan Xing cautiously opened his eyes and saw that He Qingmo was still in the same position, reading a book as if he wasn’t even there.
From his angle, he could see He Qingmo’s slightly lowered face, deep and captivating eyes, well-defined facial features, and freshly washed hair falling gracefully on his forehead, making him look particularly… sexy.
He’s really good-looking, Fan Xing thought, and this person seems different from what I initially thought.
Wasn’t he known as a notorious playboy, changing boyfriends like clothes and partying all night long?
Why does he seem different from that?
But that’s a good thing, isn’t it?
Unconsciously, Fan Xing’s eyelids grew heavier. The jet lag, combined with the events of the past two days, made him unable to resist any longer, and he soon fell asleep.
The man beside him noticed that he had fallen asleep, so he closed his book and turned to look at him.
The teenager who had been on edge all night had finally relaxed, and his pretty, fair face looked particularly calm and obedient.
The man pulled the covers over him, his lips curling into a faint smile. Maybe this arranged marriage wasn’t as bad as he had thought.
He turned off the light and lay down.
Fan Xing slept soundly, not waking up until noon the next day, when his phone rang and startled him awake.
He picked up his phone in a daze and answered it. It was his mother’s voice on the other end.
“Fan Xing, are you at home? I brought something for you. Is it convenient?” Fan Mei Xi’s voice was warm and comforting.
Fan Xing finally woke up completely and sat up, realizing that He Qingmo was no longer in the room; he was alone.
He quickly got up and went to the bathroom to freshen up. He put his phone on speaker, “Mom, just give me a moment. I just woke up.”
Fan Mei Xi smiled, “Take your time, I’m waiting outside.” She then hung up.
Fan Xing finished getting ready quickly, but he didn’t change his clothes. He felt awkward wearing pajamas to meet guests, but he didn’t want to keep his mother waiting for too long.
He went downstairs to open the door.
Fan Mei Xi had brought a bunch of beautifully wrapped shopping bags, clearly fresh from the mall.
With her was another young man, Fan Mei Xi’s son and Fan Xing’s younger brother, Gu Mingyu.
Although they were technically brothers, Fan Xing had only met him for the first time yesterday. They had never been in contact before, and at most, they were aware of each other’s existence.
Moreover, Gu Mingyu seemed to dislike Fan Xing. They had met for the first time yesterday, and Gu Mingyu had never looked at him directly.
Fan Xing was surprised that Gu Mingyu had come over today.
“You, this child, why did you leave in such a hurry yesterday? Didn’t I say I would send you over? You’ve just returned to the country, and you don’t know your way around. Your Chinese isn’t very good either. How can I rest assured if you go out alone?” After entering the house, Fan Mei Xi pulled Fan Xing to sit on the sofa and continued to chat. “Mr. He isn’t here?”
Fan Xing was about to nod when he heard someone coming downstairs. He turned to see He Qingmo, dressed in casual home attire.
Fan Xing hadn’t had a chance to explain yet, but Fan Mei Xi had already stood up and greeted him with a smile, “Mr. He, we came to visit Fan Xing. This child couldn’t wait to come over to your place yesterday. I wanted to send some things for him, but I couldn’t make it in time. So today, I specifically brought them over. I hope we’re not disturbing you.”
He Qingmo’s attitude toward the guests seemed a bit indifferent, especially considering that one of them was his mother-in-law. However, for those who knew He Qingmo, they understood that him saying “feel free to sit” was already giving them face.
Fan Mei Xi felt that the situation was developing quite well. She followed He Qingmo to the kitchen and continued talking, “Mr. He, you may not know, but our Fan Xing has always been obedient and sensible since he was a child. He doesn’t give me, as his mother, any trouble at all. Unlike my younger son, he really doesn’t make things easy for me.”
As she spoke, she turned to look at Gu Mingyu, who was still playing games on his phone. “Mingyu, come over here and greet them properly. Why are you so ill-mannered?”
That mother doesn’t seem like a good mother at least not to our MC 😤
Thanks for the update!!
