Chapter 33

When Wei Yuhuan arrived at the hospital, Xie Xiaojiang was sitting on a waiting chair in the hallway, surrounded by a gloomy atmosphere that kept people away.

His chin was slightly blue, his forehead seemed to have a small cut, and his hair was messy. He had lost the Burberry wool scarf he wore when he went out in the morning, and no one knew where it went.

Just half an hour ago, Xie Xiaojiang had grabbed Cong Yuan’s collar with one hand and held the bloodstained broken wine bottle with the other, as if he was ready to fight to the death. Almost everyone was frightened.

When someone saw Xie Xiaojiang start a fight, they wanted to step forward and help Cong Yuan fight back or intervene and pull them apart. But none of those who tried to intervene could get anything good from Xie Xiaojiang.

No one had expected that Xie Xiaojiang, who usually looked harmless, would have such great fighting power, especially the reckless and ferocious way he beat people up, which made those who only knew how to use words feel terrified.

After a girl shouted “call the police” in desperation, Zhao Yan came to his senses and immediately pulled the enraged Xie Xiaojiang away. The pacifists in the other camp also quickly stopped those who wanted to fight back. When they saw that Cong Yuan had several bleeding wounds on his body, they knew he needed medical attention, and the farce was stopped.

A friend of Cong Yuan threatened Xie Xiaojiang and said that this was not over.

Zhao Yan dared not let Xie Xiaojiang leave like this. Those people were seniors in their fourth year. No matter what they said before, Xie Xiaojiang was the first one to lose control and start the fight. If the other party wanted to pursue the responsibility, they would definitely not get off scot-free. If they tried to run away, they would never be able to mix well in school again.

Zhao Yan brought Xie Xiaojiang to the hospital, partly by threatening him and partly by pulling him along. He quickly thought of asking Xie Xiaojiang to call his dad. With such a big incident, they couldn’t solve it by themselves.

However, Xie Xiaojiang had not yet calmed down. He seemed possessed by a demon and didn’t speak. He only wanted to continue fighting.

Helplessly, Zhao Yan took Xie Xiaojiang’s phone out of his pocket and pressed a contact named “Daddy Wei” in the call log.

When Wei Yuhuan received the call, he was in a meeting and was about to ask Xiaojiang if he had finished his exams. But he heard a stranger’s voice on the other end say, “Excuse me, is this President Wei? I’m Xie Xiaojiang’s classmate. Xie Xiaojiang hit someone, and we’re at XX Hospital now.” The person stuttered and asked if he could come over.

Just hearing the keywords “hospital” and “not in good condition,” Wei Yuhuan interrupted the ongoing meeting and quickly drove over.

Then, he saw this scene.

First, he breathed a sigh of relief that Xie Xiaojiang was still sitting there unscathed, not unconscious, and not bleeding. Then he walked straight towards Xie Xiaojiang, wanting to know more about the situation.

Xie Xiaojiang saw Wei Yuhuan and his eyes flickered. He instinctively shrank back, especially when Wei Yuhuan checked his injuries with a serious face. But he quickly regained his stubborn and rebellious expression, pursing his thin lips, and pushing people away.

Only Wei Yuhuan could perceive the fleeting confusion and fear in his eyes.

Yes, Xie Xiaojiang realized he had caused trouble. He had hit someone and had even stabbed one of the guys he disliked, causing him to be covered in blood. Those people were clamoring to make him pay the price.

Wei Yuhuan asked Xie Xiaojiang what had happened, but Xie Xiaojiang couldn’t say anything. He had never been good at complaining or seeking justice for himself.

This has happened many times before. No matter what he did, as long as his parents were called, it would cause trouble at home, which was just not right – this pattern was deeply ingrained in his mind like a conditioned reflex.

So there was nothing to explain. Although Xie Xiaojiang didn’t regret hitting someone, he panicked instinctively when faced with Wei Yuhuan’s questioning.

After all, Wei Yuhuan wasn’t his real dad. If the other person knew that he was such a “troublemaker,” maybe he wouldn’t like him anymore… Moreover, the person he beat up the most was someone that Wei Yuhuan had pursued in the past.

Wei Yuhuan saw that Xie Xiaojiang was silent, so he had to ask Zhao Yan. But it was better to ask him about this matter. As the saying goes, the bystander sees clearly. He almost told Wei Yuhuan everything about the beginning and end of this matter, including when the rumors about “Xie Xiaojiang is MB” began on campus, Xie Xiaojiang’s attitude, and how he began to fight back from the moment he met this group of people today…

Wei Yuhuan listened carefully, his eyebrows furrowing deeper and deeper, and his heart seemed to ache as if it was being forcefully twisted.

Xie Xiaojiang had never told him about these things. Since he went to J University, this little guy had only shared good news and never bad news. He never thought that Xie Xiaojiang was enduring so much criticism on his own.

Xie Xiaojiang didn’t hear clearly what Zhao Yan said. His brain was buzzing, the veins on his arm still throbbing, and the adrenaline in his body that had soared due to anger had not decreased much. However, deep inside, he was struggling with contradictions and anxiously waiting for Wei Yuhuan’s verdict.

However, after Wei Yuhuan listened to everything, he just sat next to him, gently embracing his shoulders, and then stroking his head with his palm. He spoke softly, “Don’t be afraid. If anything happens, I’ll be here to support you.”

In an instant, Xie Xiaojiang’s eyes became sour, his tense shoulders slowly relaxed, and his feigned strong expression began to crumble bit by bit. He slowly leaned into Wei Yuhuan’s embrace like a child in need of comfort, showing a fragile and bewildered expression.

This sudden change made Zhao Yan, who was standing on the side, dumbfounded.

Just a few minutes ago, this guy was still waving pliers aggressively, deterring anyone who tried to approach him. But now, with just a simple sentence from Wei Yuhuan, he had let down all his guard and obediently curled up into a ball.

…It was too amazing! (=_=)

Wei Yuhuan comforted Xie Xiaojiang a few more times before asking Zhao Yan to take him to see the people who were injured by Xie Xiaojiang’s bottle.

They were lining up one by one to wait for bandaging, and another uninjured student was guarding the door of the clinic. When he saw Wei Yuhuan, he was so nervous that he couldn’t speak, seemingly not expecting the CEO of Huan Yu to personally come for such a small matter. Although they intended to investigate Xie Xiaojiang’s violent act, when they thought about how they had discussed the main character earlier, they couldn’t help but turn red and speechless.

Wei Yuhuan glanced at him and raised an eyebrow. “Where is Cong Yuan?”

He had already guessed from Zhao Yan’s account that the person who had the conflict with Xie Xiaojiang was Cong Yuan. Besides Cong Yuan, he couldn’t think of any J University student he had pursued.

The person pointed to the emergency room where Cong Yuan was the most seriously injured. Some of his wounds were relatively large, and it was said that he was currently having stitches by a surgical doctor in the emergency room.

In the rush just now, they went to the nearest ordinary hospital from the school. The small trauma surgical emergency operation table was very simple, and the door was half-open. The doctor had just finished stitching Cong Yuan’s last wound when Wei Yuhuan pushed the door in.

When the doctor saw Wei Yuhuan’s imposing manner and dress, he didn’t rush him and directly stepped aside to tidy up his tools.

It was winter, and there was no air conditioning in the clinic. Cong Yuan took off his shirt and lay on the cold bed, his face pale and pitiful. It was unclear whether he had lost too much blood or was frozen, but he looked miserable.

However, he should be grateful that he was wearing multiple layers of clothes when he was beaten, and the broken bottle only caused surface wounds. Most of the larger cuts were concentrated on his neck and the back of his hand, dotted with red medicine and looked extremely terrible.

However, Wei Yuhuan found that Cong Yuan’s face was intact, and he must not have hit him in the face. When Xiao Jiang was impulsive, he still remembered this principle and was a man.

Now it seems that although Xiao Jiang also suffered some injuries, he was actually the least injured.

Wei Yuhuan breathed a sigh of relief, but still did not dare to let his guard down. He decided to wait until things were settled before taking him for a full-body checkup.

When Cong Yuan raised his head and saw Wei Yuhuan, he was also surprised. “You…” He thought Wei Yuhuan was here specifically to see him and couldn’t help but smile wryly and turned his head, whispering, “Your little lover is really powerful.” It sounded plain, but it was full of deep grievances and sadness.

Wei Yuhuan also smiled, but his tone was devoid of humor. “Yes, he is quite powerful. I never knew he could be so violent.”

Cong Yuan didn’t pick up on the deeper meaning behind Wei Yuhuan’s words and even took some pleasure in the fact that his injuries made Wei Yuhuan recognize Xiao Jiang’s true nature. “Your taste is getting worse. How can you keep such an uncivilized person around you?” Cong Yuan sneered and didn’t care what Wei Yuhuan’s reaction was, he just asked, “How do you want to resolve this?”

Wei Yuhuan couldn’t help but find it amusing. He came to seek justice for Xiao Jiang, yet this person seemed to think he was here to compensate him? “And what about you? How do you want to resolve this?” Wei Yuhuan raised an eyebrow, wanting to hear what Cong Yuan had to say.

Cong Yuan sighed and pretended to be generous. “I admit I was unlucky. After all, you pursued me first, and I can understand that he was unhappy. I’m about to graduate, and I probably won’t have much interaction with your little lover in the future. Let him come in and apologize, and we’ll call it even. You can take him back and educate him yourself. Oh, and by the way, you’ll cover the medical expenses, right?”

Wei Yuhuan nodded. “Don’t worry, you won’t be missing a penny of the medical expenses.” He paused for a moment before adding, “But it’s unlikely that Xiao Jiang will apologize to you. Not to mention, I can’t bear to see him humiliated like that.”

Cong Yuan was taken aback and frowned at Wei Yuhuan.

“But he is my person, and since you requested it, I’ll give you an explanation,” Wei Yuhuan said after a moment of contemplation. “Here’s what we’ll do. I’ll apologize on his behalf, since he was the one who started it and was in the wrong…”

Wei Yuhuan took a step forward and looked at Cong Yuan lying on the hospital bed. “Now, let’s talk about what you owe me.” He swiftly raised his hand and slapped Cong Yuan twice, making his face turn to the side and reopening the wound that had just been stitched up.

The doctor who was about to leave the room was so anxious that he wanted to jump, but Wei Yuhuan stopped him with his next words. “Include both old and new injuries in the medical expenses. Just use the best needles and medicine.” He pointed to the wounds on Cong Yuan’s body and said coldly.
