Chapter 14
The power of autumn finally began to show, and the weather gradually cooled down.
Lin Lu slept until noon, curled up in his quilt. Although he still felt a bit weak when he got up, Xue Wensong checked his temperature and found that he wasn’t running a fever anymore.
Lin Lu’s thick clothes were still at the Qin family villa. He intended to go out in short sleeves, but Xue Wensong insisted on putting his hoodie on him.
Looking at the clearly elongated sleeves and loose waist, Lin Lu frowned and said, “I don’t want to wear…”
“You don’t have to wear it,” Xue Wensong said expressionlessly, “then don’t go out.”
Lin Lu pursed his lips and didn’t dare to take off the hoodie.
As the saying goes, pride comes before a fall. Last night, he dared to argue with Xue Wensong because he was sick and his mind wasn’t clear. But now that he was feeling better, he naturally didn’t dare to talk back anymore.
Xue Wensong watched as Lin Lu went to the filming location. He exuded an air of indifference, as if he didn’t care about anything here, yet everything was under his control. The actress couldn’t help but swallow nervously. She knew that ordinary actors couldn’t cultivate such an aura. She thought that perhaps it was a boss from one of the investors who had come to inspect the set.
After arriving at the set, Lin Lu focused on filming. He didn’t want to publicize his relationship with Xue Wensong, so even though Xue Wensong was nearby with a strong presence, he pretended not to notice.
After changing into his high school uniform, Lin Lu quickly got into character and followed the male second lead to pick a fight with the male lead. He only had two lines in this scene, so it was easy to shoot.
Xue Wensong stood at a distance, watching the little deer pretending to be a tiger.
He found that his little one really liked performing.
Even though he was feeling unwell, he acted as if nothing was wrong.
And he was even wearing a school uniform.
The autumn breeze brought a chill, and Xue Wensong felt a slight warmth in his throat. Images of some unsavory characters involuntarily appeared in his mind, but when he thought that even going to first base was difficult now, he sighed helplessly.
The director didn’t add any extra scenes this time, so the scene went smoothly. After changing out of his school uniform, Lin Lu draped Xue Wensong’s hoodie over his arm and walked out. At this time, Wu Zhi and the others were still resting. Seeing Lin Lu coming out, Wu Zhi walked over and put his arm around Lin Lu’s shoulder. “Are you going to visit other crews later? Let me treat you to dinner later?”
“You don’t have to spend money,” Lin Lu laughed, then sneezed.
“Did I catch your cold?” Wu Zhi furrowed his brows, “Are your scenes finished?”
“Yes, I’ll see if there are any other crews looking for people.”
“Don’t you have a talent agency?”
“I’m still in school.”
As they were chatting, a dark figure suddenly appeared. Before Lin Lu could react, the hoodie in his hand was snatched away.
Xue Wensong frowned at Wu Zhi, his lips slightly parted. “Hand.”
Wu Zhi, who was at least 1.8 meters tall, was usually outgoing and unafraid of anything. But looking at the man exuding low pressure in front of him, he involuntarily withdrew his arm from Lin Lu’s shoulder.
Without hesitation, Xue Wensong put the hoodie on Lin Lu’s head. “Put it on.”
“I’m not cold…” Lin Lu muttered, but still put on the hoodie.
The hoodie was obviously too big for him, and even a fool could tell it wasn’t Lin Lu’s clothes. Wu Zhi raised an eyebrow, looking at Lin Lu with a complicated expression. “Is he your sugar daddy?”
It wasn’t surprising that Wu Zhi would think this way, because Xue Wensong was wearing an expensive branded watch, and his demeanor resembled that of a wealthy father.
But Lin Lu was shocked by his words. “What nonsense are you talking about? How could he be my sugar daddy?!”
Xue Wensong didn’t bother to explain. He wrapped his arm around Lin Lu’s neck and walked away. Deliberately mischievous, he said, “Let’s go, my good son.”
“How…how dare you call me that?” Lin Lu blushed furiously, stumbling along with Xue Wensong. “Explain yourself properly.”
“What are you saying?” Xue Wensong chuckled. “Why don’t you speak for yourself?”
“I…” Lin Lu suddenly realized that if he wanted to explain clearly, he would have to say that Xue Wensong was his husband. But he couldn’t bring himself to say those words, so he reluctantly turned his neck and shouted to Wu Zhi behind him, “Um, it’s not what you think. Don’t get any strange ideas!”
Wu Zhi shrugged, not paying much attention. He had only mentioned it casually anyway.
After walking a distance, Xue Wensong loosened his grip on Lin Lu. As they passed by a trash can, Xue Wensong took out a few cards from his pocket and threw them in. Lin Lu curiously asked, “What are those?”
“Business cards,” Xue Wensong replied. “There are agents, and maybe even producers.”
Lin Lu’s eyes widened instantly, admiringly saying, “You’re so amazing. You just stood there for a while…”
“Not really,” Xue Wensong didn’t feel much. If it was at an IT industry event, more people would have handed him their business cards.
“But why did you throw them away?” Lin Lu complained, “You don’t need them. You could have given them to me.”
Xue Wensong suddenly remembered the eager faces of the people who had given him their business cards just now. He thought about how Lin Lu might also try to please others like this in the future, and his mood became complicated.
It seemed that he had to become even stronger to protect this little deer.
Lin Lu was completely unaware of Xue Wensong’s thoughts and was still lamenting the missed opportunity. As the two gradually approached the exit of the film and television city, a person carrying a pile of costumes passed by them. Lin Lu subconsciously glanced over and recognized the person.
He ran over and took the clothes from the person’s hands. “Sis, let me help you.”
Yang Li poked her head out from behind the clothes. “Lin Lu? Are you done with work?”
“Yeah.” Lin Lu nodded.
Yang Li loosened her grip, intending to hand some of the clothes to Lin Lu, but her hand was stopped by a large hand.
Xue Wensong glanced lightly at Yang Li. “He’s sick and can’t carry them.”
Yang Li shivered and held the clothes tightly again.
Lin Lu complained softly, “I can carry them.”
Xue Wensong didn’t even bother to lift his eyelids. “Listen to me.”
Hearing the conversation between the two, Yang Li suddenly remembered something. She leaned towards Lin Lu and looked at Xue Wensong, saying, “So, this is your big tiger at home?”
Lin Lu felt a bit embarrassed because Xue Wensong didn’t know about the note he had set for him. He pretended not to hear Yang Li’s question and introduced the two people beside him, “This is Xue Wensong, and this is Yang Li.”
“Xue Wensong? Sounds familiar.” Yang Li rested her chin on the clothes and looked at Xue Wensong, “Are you an actor?”
“No,” Lin Lu explained, “Do you know about Future Wisdom? He used to be the CEO.”
“Oh, I remember now. I think I’ve seen him in the news.”
People like Yang Li, who mingled in the entertainment industry, rarely paid attention to financial news. Moreover, people from the IT industry rarely became hot topics like celebrities, so it was normal for Yang Li not to recognize Xue Wensong.
But the fact that such a person was walking with Lin Lu made it seem strange, especially considering the phone call from earlier. Yang Li’s mind was filled with a thought.
She nudged Lin Lu with her elbow, asking gossipingly, “Is he your boyfriend?”
“Uh…” Lin Lu was taken aback, and Xue Wensong showed no intention of answering for him, just hugging his arms and waiting for his answer like a spectator at a show.
“Or…” Yang Li raised her eyebrows, her expression becoming complicated.
Lin Lu knew that Yang Li and Wu Zhi were thinking in a certain direction, so he quickly waved his hand, “No, no, don’t get any strange ideas. He…he is my boyfriend.”
“Oh?” Yang Li looked at Lin Lu, whose cheeks were now red, with suspicion. “Why did it take you so long to say that?”
“I, I just…”
Xue Wensong, who had been silent all this time, raised the corners of his mouth. He didn’t want to see the little deer struggling anymore, so he took the initiative to hold his hand and said to Yang Li, “My kid is a bit shy.”
“Fine.” Yang Li looked at the handsome man in front of her, her tone sour. “Good-looking men are all into men now, leaving us with no hope.”
Lin Lu laughed, “Sis, you’re already married.”
“That’s just what I’m saying.” After saying that, Yang Li turned to Xue Wensong, “You’re not allowed to bully our little Lu, or else if I meet someone nice, I’ll introduce them to him.”
Xue Wensong raised an eyebrow and narrowed his eyes slightly. “First, he belongs to me. Second, if I don’t bully him, who will? Third, you can try introducing someone to him?”
Xue Wensong’s tone didn’t sound like he was joking at all, making Yang Li shiver, but she immediately excitedly poked Lin Lu with her elbow, “Your boyfriend is so fond of you.”
Lin Lu’s heart beat a little faster, and he replied dazedly, “Um…yeah.”
After Yang Li left, Xue Wensong still didn’t let go of Lin Lu’s hand. He led Lin Lu back to the car, started it, and drove towards the city center.
To be honest, he was feeling a bit good now. From initially being called an old man to becoming a brother, and now to being referred to as a “boyfriend,” although he knew this didn’t mean their relationship was officially confirmed, he was still satisfied with the progress. However…
“Big tiger?” Xue Wensong stared straight ahead at the road, raising an eyebrow.
“I just randomly changed the note, and Li Jie saw it…” Lin Lu explained.
Xue Wensong didn’t seem displeased. He asked, “Do you give nicknames to everyone you know?”
“Not really,” Lin Lu shook his head.
It seemed that he was indeed a bit special. Xue Wensong thought to himself.
But then he heard Lin Lu continue, “…because it used to be ‘old pervert,’ and I thought it wasn’t very appropriate, so I changed it to what it is now.”
Xue Wensong: “…”
