Chapter 20
Lu Shaoyang was blow-drying his hair in the dressing room when he suddenly remembered something. He stopped and asked the assistant who was packing things beside him, “Where’s Lin Lu?”
The assistant looked puzzled. “Who’s Lin Lu?”
“The stand-in.”
“Oh, him.” The assistant thought for a moment. “It seems like he changed clothes and left.”
Lin Lu followed behind Xue Wensong, who exuded an aura of low pressure. He knew Xue Wensong was in a bad mood because when he asked why he was here earlier, Xue Wensong didn’t respond.
Xue Wensong went to the hotel front desk to pick up the stored luggage. Without expression, he turned to Lin Lu and asked, “What’s the room number?”
Lin Lu nervously reported a number.
Xue Wensong continued to walk toward the elevator, with Lin Lu following behind his long legs.
After entering the room, Xue Wensong placed the luggage aside and turned to look at Lin Lu. “What are you standing there for? Go blow-dry your hair.”
“Oh…” Lin Lu went to the bathroom to remove the hairdryer from the wall mount. At this moment, Xue Wensong suddenly walked in, snatched the hairdryer from his hand, and started blow-drying his hair for him.
Lin Lu secretly glanced at Xue Wensong in the mirror and realized he had never seen Xue Wensong so angry before. Even his pursed lips exuded anger.
After a while, the sound of the hairdryer stopped, and Lin Lu looked at the reflection in the mirror, trying to please the person in it. “Why are you here?”
Xue Wensong, still expressionless, replied, “Canceled a dinner appointment and came to see you early.”
Xue Wensong was willing to talk to him!
Lin Lu felt slightly relieved and hurriedly explained, “About the scene just now…”
Xue Wensong interrupted him, “No more acting in the future.”
Xue Wensong put down the hairdryer and left the bathroom without looking back. Lin Lu quickly followed, “Let me explain. It’s not what you think.”
“What do I think?” Xue Wensong sat down on the edge of the bed and asked coldly, “Are you having fun kissing and touching your idol?”
“No, no…” Lin Lu said anxiously, “I didn’t know beforehand that we were going to shoot intimate scenes.”
Xue Wensong chuckled with anger. “You didn’t know before shooting?”
“I saw them filming before,” Lin Lu explained, “but they didn’t have so many intimate actions at that time.”
“Do you even have a brain?” Xue Wensong frowned. “If it’s a body double scene, why would they film unnecessary actions?”
Lin Lu suddenly realized why yesterday’s shots were focused on their faces…
Seeing Lin Lu silent, Xue Wensong said firmly, “No more acting in the future. Tomorrow, you’re going back with me.”
Lin Lu bit his lip, pitifully pleading, “But you agreed before…”
“I agreed for you to act, not for you to shoot this kind of B-grade movie.”
Hearing this, Lin Lu was stunned. He furrowed his brows in shock, “What are you talking about? How can it be a B-grade movie!”
Xue Wensong’s eyes turned cold. “In my eyes, it is.”
“You… You’re unreasonable!” Lin Lu took a few steps back. “Why do you have to control me! I don’t want to go back with you!”
After saying that, Lin Lu opened the door and ran out. Xue Wensong frowned tightly, his anger still boiling inside.
Fifteen minutes later, he sighed helplessly, his mood restless, and followed Lin Lu out.
After running out of the hotel, Lin Lu squatted in the dark corner by the roadside.
He felt so miserable. He knew Xue Wensong had a reason to be angry, but how could he say he was shooting a B-grade movie?
The grievance in his heart couldn’t be resolved. It turned into tears swirling in his eyes. But before the tears could fall, a figure appeared in front of Lin Lu.
He raised his head hopefully, only to find that the person in front of him wasn’t the one he desperately wanted to see.
Lu Shaoyang looked down at Lin Lu, whose eyes were red. He shook the plastic bag in his hand. “I bought some snacks. Want to come over to my place?”
Lin Lu sniffed and stood up. “Okay.”
“Another unhappy incident?” Lu Shaoyang smiled. “Why do you always seem unhappy whenever I see you?”
“I don’t know…” Lin Lu muttered, feeling lost.
Lin Lu followed Lu Shaoyang into the elevator. As the elevator door closed, the door of another elevator opened, and Xue Wensong hurriedly walked out with a worried expression.
Lu Shaoyang’s room was a suite, much larger than Lin Lu’s room.
The two sat on the double sofa, and Lu Shaoyang opened two cans of beer, handing one to Lin Lu. Lin Lu hesitated and took a sip, only to be choked by the unfamiliar taste.
Lu Shaoyang handed him a tissue to wipe his mouth and asked, “You don’t drink?”
“Well…” Lin Lu put down the can dejectedly. He thought to himself that if he couldn’t even drink, he didn’t even have the qualification to drown his sorrows in alcohol.
Lu Shaoyang also put down his beer. “What happened this time?”
Lin Lu pursed his lips and said, “Would your family oppose you acting?”
Lu Shaoyang narrowed his eyes slightly, understanding the question.
“They opposed it at the beginning,” Lu Shaoyang said, “but once I achieved success, they stopped saying anything.”
“I see…” Lin Lu still frowned. He wondered how he could endure until he achieved success if he didn’t have Xue Wensong’s support. It seemed like a paradox.
“I remember you said yesterday that you enjoy acting, right?” Lu Shaoyang asked.
Lin Lu nodded.
“Then tell your family how much you love it,” Lu Shaoyang gently patted Lin Lu’s head. “If they love you, they’ll understand you.”
Lin Lu looked up, blinking uncertainly.
Does Xue Wensong… love him?
“You don’t need to worry too much,” Lu Shaoyang continued, “there are many unpleasant things in life. If you worry about every little thing, life would be too hard.”
“Well… that’s true.” Lin Lu remembered the saying, whether it’s addition or subtraction, it all comes to zero. Happiness and sorrow are just temporary emotions.
Thinking of this, his heart seemed to gradually calm down. Lin Lu took a deep breath and said to Lu Shaoyang, “Thank you.”
Feeling better now?” Lu Shaoyang asked with a smile.
“Yeah, I feel better.” Lin Lu said, “Thanks to the words you gave me. I’ve been keeping them in mind.”
Lu Shaoyang was puzzled. “What words?”
“The ones about the abacus,” Lin Lu reminded him, “and addition and subtraction.”
Lu Shaoyang smiled. “Aren’t you my fan? How come you don’t even know I hate math?”
Lin Lu’s expression froze. “Huh? Wasn’t that phrase written in my notebook by you?”
Lu Shaoyang was also puzzled. “I’ve never touched an abacus in my life. How could I teach you addition and subtraction?”
It seemed that Lu Shaoyang really didn’t know what that phrase meant.
Lin Lu was at a loss. Did he miss some details?
The air suddenly fell silent. Lu Shaoyang looked at Lin Lu, who was lost in thought, and gently rubbed his back. “Lu, are you okay?”
“Huh?” Lin Lu snapped out of his daze and looked at Lu Shaoyang.
“You must like me quite a bit, don’t you?” Lu Shaoyang asked.
Lin Lu didn’t catch the deeper meaning behind this sentence.
Lu Shaoyang was his idol, and he did like him quite a bit, so he nodded honestly.
Lu Shaoyang smiled again, but this time, there was a hint of playfulness in his smile. He tilted his head and leaned in. “I also like you quite a bit.”
Lin Lu stared at the suddenly aggressive Lu Shaoyang, feeling stunned, and could only obediently follow his movements as he leaned back on the sofa armrest.
Lu Shaoyang straightened up and took off his T-shirt, revealing his muscular upper body. Lin Lu was so shocked that he blinked several times, stuttering, “W-What are you doing?”
“Just…” Lu Shaoyang leaned in closer, “want to sleep with you.”
Lin Lu was stunned. Was this still his gentle and composed idol?!
Lu Shaoyang reached into Lin Lu’s clothes with one hand and supported himself on the sofa arm with the other. He leaned close to Lin Lu’s ear, his voice husky as he said, “You think my performance during the day was just acting?”
After saying that, as if remembering something funny, he chuckled softly twice.
“I pretended not to be aroused. That’s the real acting.”
Lin Lu gasped in shock, feeling a chill run down his spine. He quickly reached out to push Lu Shaoyang’s chest. “L-Let go of me…”
Lu Shaoyang grabbed his wrist firmly and pressed it against the sofa. He looked down at Lin Lu from above and said, “It’s not so easy to push me away this time.”
Lin Lu was so anxious that he was almost in tears. He avoided Lu Shaoyang’s lips and blurted out, “I’m married!”
Upon hearing this, Lu Shaoyang’s movements abruptly stopped.
Lin Lu continued, “My husband is in my room. Let go of me!”
Lu Shaoyang glanced at Lin Lu’s ring finger but saw no ring.
However, he couldn’t help but lose interest when he realized that Lin Lu would rather “lie” than be with him.
He sat up, lit a cigarette, and joked, “Your husband? And he lets you come here to act?”
“Why not?” Lin Lu’s chest was still heaving. “He’s on a business trip, specifically came to see me.”
Lin Lu suddenly regretted. He shouldn’t have gotten angry with Xue Wensong.
Obviously, Xue Wensong came here early to see him, but he witnessed Lin Lu being intimate with Lu Shaoyang instead. Thinking about it now, he could understand why Xue Wensong was so angry.
Thinking of this, Lin Lu also felt angry.
He glared at Lu Shaoyang and said, “It’s all because you took advantage of me while filming, and my husband saw it, so he doesn’t allow me to act anymore!”
Lin Lu didn’t realize that he could now naturally speak those two words.
“Oh?” Lu Shaoyang saw that Lin Lu didn’t seem to be lying. “You really have a husband?”
“Of course!” Lin Lu replied sulkily. “My husband is amazing.”
“So, when you mentioned family earlier, you were actually referring to your husband?” Lu Shaoyang couldn’t help but smirk.
“Yeah.” Lin Lu replied unkindly.
Lu Shaoyang kindly reminded, “Do you know what time it is now? You left your husband alone and came here to do what?”
Only then did Lin Lu suddenly realize that he should hurry back. He took out his silent phone and saw numerous missed calls.
The next second, the phone rang again, and he quickly answered.
“Babe,” Xue Wensong’s anxious voice came through, “where are you?”
