Chapter 218
However, because the quantity was limited, he usually recommended beer first.
A table of guests ordered both kinds of drinks, and Qingqing smiled, saying cheerfully, “Please wait a moment, we’ll serve the dishes shortly.”
After reporting the order to the kitchen, Qingqing first prepared the drinks for the guests, then started taking orders from the second and third tables.
One had to admit that Hui was really impressive; it was like he had eight hands. Despite so many orders, he not only served them quickly but never got them mixed up, whereas Yu had made several mistakes while serving the dishes.
Around seven o’clock, the first table of guests paid their bill, all looking very satisfied. One of them deliberately lagged behind a bit. When his friends had walked a little distance away, he asked Qingqing, “Could I get your contact information?”
Qingqing smiled, “Are you looking to order takeout or make a reservation? You can note down our fixed contact number. If the distance is within ten kilometers, we can deliver.”
“No,” the male guest said, staring at him with evident flirtation in his eyes, “I want your personal number.”
Qingqing had encountered situations like this before. In fact, he had even dealt with people who had been physically forward with him. Compared to that, just asking for his number was quite mild. Qingqing skillfully replied, “Sorry, I just started this job and haven’t saved enough money to buy a communicator. Once I get one, I’ll let you know, okay?”
It was obvious to anyone that this was a polite refusal. The male guest showed a look of disappointment but smiled, “I’ll bring my friends here again next time.”
“Thank you for your patronage.”
Lowering his head to put the money he had just received into the drawer, Qingqing looked up to see a familiar figure. His heart skipped a beat, and his smile became genuinely radiant, no longer just a professional sweetness. “Secretary Wen, how do you have time to come by today?”
Wen Shu had been the fifth secretary to Huo Youqiao and had met Qingqing while accompanying Huo Youqiao to find Ye Zhi. Since then, whether it was inviting them to the wedding or helping them apply for a business license, arrange renovations, or handle other paperwork, Huo Youqiao had always had Wen Shu handle it, so they had become quite familiar with each other.
Now, Wen Shu had been promoted to Huo Youqiao’s second secretary.
The tall man, seeing him, also showed a gentle smile. He was originally wearing a suit, but because of the heat, he had taken off his jacket and loosened his tie. He looked somewhat relaxed, but his posture and stride still retained a military discipline, making him stand out among those around him.
“My colleagues wanted to have a get-together, so we came here.”
Soon, several unfamiliar faces appeared behind him, each smiling and greeting Qingqing. They all looked very young, both men and women, and were dressed in formal attire. Most of the men had taken off their jackets, while the women looked quite refined.
Especially the girl standing next to Wen Shu. Her black suit gave her a composed look, but her makeup was the trendy “apple makeup,” making her face appear both pretty and charming. Even her hair was perfectly styled, and her lipstick was flawlessly applied. She didn’t seem like she was here for a casual dinner but rather on a date.
Qingqing, sensitive to makeup, felt a bit uneasy but didn’t show it on his face.
He arranged a private room for them, and after noticing the girl subtly sit next to Wen Shu, he quickly averted his gaze and asked with a smile, “What would you like to eat? Feel free to order. Secretary Wen’s colleagues get a 40% discount.”
Everyone cheered, but Wen Shu smiled and said, “No need for a discount, just give us a bottle of sasha fruit wine.” He added quietly, “Don’t take a loss.”
Qingqing blushed, “It won’t be a loss…”
“Just a bottle of wine,” Wen Shu insisted.
After passing around the menu, everyone placed their orders, except for the girl beside Wen Shu. She smiled shyly and said to Wen Shu, “I’m fine with anything you choose.”
Her behavior was very obvious, and their colleagues, who usually enjoyed teasing them, started laughing playfully. One male colleague even teased, “Not married yet, but already acting like a couple, huh?”
The girl blushed even more, lowering her head in embarrassment. Wen Shu, however, seemed taken aback for a moment before seriously saying, “Don’t say that. Miss He and I are not in that kind of relationship.”
The male colleague laughed, “So when do you plan to be in that kind of relationship?”
