Chapter 31

“Do you find married life unbearable? Your husband doesn’t love you, has many lovers outside, and your parents are constantly urging you to please me, to obey me. Do you feel hopeless every day?” Huo Youcheng said, then chuckled. “It’s all your doing, Ye Zhi. Back then, you could have refused your parents and not married me, but you agreed to marry me. These days are what you asked for.”

“So, you have to walk down the path you’ve chosen, even if it means crying and kneeling. I won’t completely destroy the Ye family’s industry. I’ll make them think every day about how to maintain it and how to please me. I won’t love you, won’t give you anything except the position of a partner.” Huo Youcheng smirked. “So just be my wife peacefully. Don’t think about divorce. Until the damage I’ve suffered is appeased, I won’t let you go.”

Since he had promised Huo Ran to make breakfast for her the previous night, even though his body felt as if it had been run over by a car, Ye Zhi still got up early from the bed.

His body was sore, but his forehead didn’t feel feverish, nor did he feel groggy, which made Ye Zhi somewhat relieved.

Thankfully, he wasn’t running a fever this time.

Tied in an apron in the kitchen, Ye Zhi calmly prepared breakfast for the whole family. The nanny had arrived early, and upon seeing him working, she didn’t come in but instead said, “Remember to prepare a cup of coffee for the master.”

“Okay.” Ye Zhi wouldn’t refuse, even though it wasn’t originally his job, and he also felt a sense of willingness.

After all, Huo Youqiao had helped him.

Oh right, he hadn’t asked for his bank account yet. He needed to transfer the existing money first and pay him back the rest after receiving his salary.

Ye Zhi pondered in his mind, his hands not faltering. By the time Huo Ran came downstairs after washing up, he had prepared a sumptuous breakfast and was making a lunchbox for her. A child’s lunchbox not only needed to be nutritionally balanced and tasty, but it also needed to be cute in appearance.

“Wow, today it’s a little duck!” Huo Ran got excited when she saw the shape of the lunchbox and her eyes sparkled.

Ye Zhi smiled at her. “That’s right, it’s a little duck. Do you like it?”

The body shape was made with fried eggs, the eyes were made with chopped seaweed, and finally, Ye Zhi put a piece of sharp carrot on top to complete the little duck’s mouth.

“I love it! It’s so cute!”

Ye Zhi smiled. “Then you have to finish the carrots too, or the little duck will be sad.” Huo Ran usually hated eating carrots, but she would frown and refuse when faced with this kind of food.

Huo Ran immediately raised her hand and said loudly, “I’ll eat it all today!”

Her voice was too loud, attracting the man who had just come downstairs. He stood at the kitchen door and was slightly surprised when he saw this scene, but soon he showed a casual smile. “Ranran is so happy early in the morning?”

When Huo Ran saw Huo Youcheng, her eyes lit up. “Uncle, why are you back?”

Huo Youcheng bent down and hugged her, kissing her cheek firmly, looking very sunny. “I missed our little princess, so I came back to say hello.” His gaze casually fell on Ye Zhi, who had become tense since he appeared, and he asked, “What are you doing with him?”

Huo Ran hurriedly explained, “Zhi Zhi is making me lunch! Uncle, let me tell you, Zhi Zhi’s lunch is the most delicious and beautiful. The kids at kindergarten envy me so much and think my mom made it for me.”

Huo Youcheng smirked. “I see.” He lifted the little girl and said, “Let’s go, let’s have breakfast.”

Once he left, Ye Zhi finally relaxed slightly, his tense body slowly relaxing.

The torn wound in his groin still throbbed with pain, and it hurt even more when he sat on the chair. Ye Zhi hadn’t wanted to have breakfast with them, but Huo Ran had dragged him along, and with a nod from Huo Youcheng, he could only sit down.

Ye Zhi’s cooking skills were excellent. Whether it was the porridge he made or the fried eggs, they were all fragrant. The steamed buns he made were even finished before he came out. Even the soy milk he made was richer in flavor than what was sold outside. Huo Ran ate with a satisfied expression. “So delicious! I wish Zhi Zhi could cook for me every day.”

Huo Youcheng chuckled. “Then ask him to.”

Huo Ran shook her head. “No, Zhi Zhi has a job. Daddy said we can’t always trouble Zhi Zhi, or he’ll get tired.”

Ye Zhi was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Huo Youqiao to be so considerate behind his back, but he tried hard to resist the urge to look at Huo Youqiao.
