Chapter 89

While Su Bin had decided to drop out of school, this wasn’t a simple matter. A prestigious university like Sheng University wouldn’t easily allow a student with excellent grades, currently on an exchange program, to drop out. Moreover, Su Bin was already in his third year; he would graduate in just one more year. His final year would mostly involve internships and his thesis, so the idea of dropping out was hard for others to understand.

Of course, there were precedents. For instance, some academic prodigies realized after three years of university that their passion lay elsewhere. They dropped out and then aced the national college entrance exam again to get into top-tier universities like P University or T University… But those cases were few and far between.

Since he was still in China for the semester, Su Bin called his academic advisor the day after Christmas. However, as soon as he mentioned his intention to drop out, the advisor exploded.

“Drop out? Have you lost your mind?” The advisor was a young woman who had recently graduated with a master’s degree from the same university. She had joined the faculty the same year Su Bin entered the university, and she treated her students like younger siblings. Given her good rapport with the students, she was well-informed about their personal lives. Especially students like Su Bin, who was a campus celebrity. Gossip about them was a hot topic among the young teachers. “Su Bin, be honest with me. Is this about Chen Xiaotian?”

Su Bin was dumbfounded. Even his breakup with Chen Xiaotian was known to his advisor. Sigh, what face did he have left to show…?

The advisor hurriedly consoled him, talking about how young love was like that, how there would be better things in the future, and how this was just a part of life. She advised him not to overthink and said, “And you’re still on an exchange program. What will you do if you drop out? Are you not going to study anymore?”

Su Bin hadn’t paid much attention to the words of comfort, but the last question caught his attention. He glanced at Allen and said to the advisor, “I need to think about it.”

The advisor let out a sigh of relief. “Silly child! Don’t be impulsive! Giving up your future for a girl isn’t worth it!”

“…” Su Bin muttered to himself. He wasn’t doing this for Chen Xiaotian…

At this moment, Su Bin and Allen were propped up against the headboard on the bed. They hadn’t gotten up yet. Su Bin recounted the advisor’s questions to Allen, who held him and explained, “This won’t affect your education in B Country. The B Country embassy has already approved a one-year visa. You’ve also registered for one year at M University. Within this year, as long as you don’t break any laws in B Country, the Chinese school can’t make you leave B Country or interrupt your studies at M University.”

After hearing Allen’s explanation, Su Bin felt relieved.

Meanwhile, when the advisor answered the phone, some students were present. They saw her shaking her head and sighing before hanging up. Immediately, they started gossiping:

“What? Su Bin wants to drop out? Because of that girl from the Foreign Language Institute?”

“It seems his best friend managed to steal her while he was abroad. The news has been spreading on the campus network…”

“Damn! His friend is really something! Chen Xiaotian seemed like such a goddess. How could he do something like that? It’s disgusting!”

“I heard Su Bin came back a few days ago. He even gave his friend some chocolates, then disappeared quietly.”

“Su Bin is so pitiful…”

The advisor said, “Alright, stop gossiping. I’ve talked him out of it. When you leave here, don’t spread this around, okay?”

The students agreed superficially, but once they left, they couldn’t help but gossip. The news spread like wildfire.

Just as the advisor breathed a sigh of relief, the phone rang again:

“Teacher, I want to drop out…” Su Bin’s youthful voice came through the phone.

The young advisor was almost driven to a heart attack by his attitude. “Have you thought this through? Don’t be stubborn! The school won’t agree!”

Su Bin naively asked, “Why won’t the school agree?”

The advisor retorted, “Do you think dropping out is like returning a train ticket? It’s not something you can just do on a whim! You must provide a valid reason, a valid reason! Don’t tell me you won a hundred million lottery!”

Su Bin glanced at Allen and said to the advisor, “Wait a moment, let me discuss this with my… uh, my family.”

The advisor: “…” Discuss with your family? Does that mean he’s really decided?

Su Bin didn’t notice the flicker of joy that passed through Allen’s eyes earlier. He covered the phone and asked Allen softly, “I’m dropping out here, but how can I apply to continue my studies at M University?”

The advisor’s reminder made Su Bin realize he hadn’t thought it through. What if he dropped out here but couldn’t smoothly transition back to B Country? He could end up becoming a dropout.

Allen leaned closer, held Su Bin’s head, and kissed him.

Su Bin: “Mmm…” Why is he suddenly…?

Allen licked his lips and smiled, “Trust me, I’ll take care of it.”

Blushing, Su Bin picked up the phone and stammered, “Teacher, my… my family said they’ll take care of it…”

Tsk~ Rich people are so wilful! The advisor grumbled, “Are you in China right now? Since your family has decided, there’s no point in me saying anything else. But this isn’t up to me. You need to write a letter of withdrawal, have your parents provide a reasonable explanation, sign it, and bring it to the department. I’ll help you submit it to the university for approval… It’ll take at least ten days or two weeks to process.”

Su Bin felt dizzy. So, he had to get his dad’s signature? And go back to the university? He didn’t want to do either!

Su Bin recounted everything to Allen and sighed, “So annoying. I should just skip this and not return to school. If I skip classes for a long time, the school might automatically drop me.”

He curled up like a caterpillar under the covers, holding the phone, feeling a bit melancholic.

Allen narrowed his eyes, thought for a moment, and sent a few messages on Skype to his friend, then made a call.

Su Bin poked his head out of the covers, listening to Allen talking about “student status,” “visa,” “agent,” and other terms that seemed to be mixed with other languages…

On the last call, Su Bin recognized that Allen was talking to Yang Chengzhe. Excited, he crawled out a bit and gestured with his eyes to Allen, “I want to talk to Yang Chengzhe too!”

“Wait a moment,” Su Bin hesitated, “it’s only ten in the morning. If Allen hands me the phone, will Yang Chengzhe get the wrong idea?”

Blushing, he pulled back under the covers.

Watching Su Bin’s adorable reaction, Allen chuckled and continued talking to Yang Chengzhe, “Yes, I’ll leave the rest to the agent… That’s right, only the dropout process… I’ll take pictures of his student ID and ID card and send them to you.”

After ending the call, Allen asked Su Bin for his university ID and then took out Su Bin’s confiscated ID card. He used his phone to take pictures and sent them over.

Su Bin looked conflicted as he watched Allen use his thumb to rub the picture of his slightly crumpled ID card and then put it away.

“Done,” Allen smiled at him.

Su Bin was surprised, “It’s done?”

Allen nodded, “Yes, I’ve asked my lawyer to arrange for an agent in China to handle this for you. Joe has relatives who work in the government and education bureau. They’ll directly contact your university in China, officially interrupt your enrollment, and send your academic records to me.”

My goodness! Su Bin, who had lived under a strict system all his life, was dumbfounded. Student records were managed by the school until graduation and then transferred to the personnel department. If you didn’t have a job, they would be kept at the personnel office and usually not pass through individual hands. But now, Allen was saying that they would send him his records!

Besides being impressed by Allen’s formidable capabilities, Su Bin felt a slight sense of reverence… What if he accidentally angered Allen? What if Allen tore up his records and burned his ID card? That would be a total tragedy! QAQ

Worried, Su Bin asked, “Will this method cause any problems?”

Allen questioned, “What problems?”

Su Bin looked up and met Allen’s deep gaze, not knowing what to say.

Allen leaned down, seemingly able to directly read Su Bin’s thoughts through his eyes, “Mu, I’ve told you before. Laws and norms are just rules that a small group of people have established for the majority. We only need to transcend the rules… Besides, what I’ve done for you isn’t illegal.”

This was why so many people desired power. What seemed impossible to others was easily achieved by those in power.

Su Bin: “…” True, the words made sense, but he still felt a little scared. Orz…

Moreover, kind and amiable Cheng Ge turned out to be a well-hidden individual. Su Bin had assumed Cheng Ge came from an educated family, but he didn’t expect his relatives to hold government positions. He really couldn’t afford to offend him!

Sensing his emotions, Allen caressed his ear and grinned mischievously, “Stay obediently by my side, and I’ll keep you safe.”

“I won’t leave you with any possibility of escape.”

“I don’t want to experience the feelings I had when I found out you were returning to China before Christmas for the second time.”

Su Bin slowly snuggled up to Allen’s side and unconsciously nudged his head against Allen’s waist—absolutely must not provoke him! QAQ

The people Allen had contacted promised to handle Su Bin’s affairs before New Year’s Day, so he decided to stay in China for another week.

Su Bin called Jin Fei and asked him where he wanted to go today. Jin Fei replied, “My luck hasn’t been great recently. Let’s go to Lingyin Temple and pray to the Buddha.”

“Sure! I know that place well!” Su Bin finally had a chance and immediately perked up. “But isn’t it better to go in the morning to pray? It’s almost noon now.”

“Then let’s go tomorrow morning. In the afternoon, I’ll find a girl.” Jin Fei was annoyed yesterday by the unconsciously affectionate couple! Damn it!

“…” Su Bin asked, “Where do you want to go to find a girl? Do you want us to come along?” Su Bin had lived here for so many years, but he still had no idea where to meet girls… His social circle was limited to the school!

Jin Fei said, “Let’s join the celebration! You two will just be third wheels if you come with me!” If Allen were here, he’d have a chance to survive!

Su Bin…

Jin Fei continued, “Don’t worry about it. Let’s have dinner together tonight when you’re free.”

Su Bin replied, “Okay…”
