Chapter 14
Susan happened to see Fan Xing walking ahead, playing with Xin Xin. She genuinely found Xin Xin adorable, not just because the adults were around and she had to act that way.
Susan smiled and said, “Actually, I think Fan Xing is a pretty good kid. If Old Three really likes her and wants to be with her sincerely, it’s a good thing. It saves our parents from pressuring them every day.”
“Yeah, I agree. I can see that Fan Xing likes her too. But the key is what our parents think. When Mom called me this morning, she was so angry, and now it seems like she’s accepted it?” Lin Lin was puzzled.
Susan shook her head. “Our parents have always had their own way of thinking, who knows what they’re thinking now? Let’s not worry about it.”
Lin Lin thought about it and realized it made sense. Since they were about to start the meal, she didn’t say anything more and led Susan to the table.
Fan Xing’s nervousness had eased quite a bit after Xin Xin appeared, so they had a smooth dinner.
However, when it was time for him to leave after dinner, Xin Xin didn’t want him to go and insisted on going home with him.
He Qingshen’s face turned green, as if he could already imagine his precious daughter being taken away by some rascal. He held Xin Xin tightly, feeling distressed. “Darling, don’t you want Daddy anymore? How can you go home with another man?”
But the little girl didn’t care how much her father was hurting; she held onto Fan Xing and wouldn’t let go, no matter who tried to persuade her.
In the end, Fan Xing had to promise to visit her next weekend before the little girl reluctantly let him go.
After leaving the He family, Fan Xing finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Although he didn’t know the reason, it seemed that the He family had a somewhat positive impression of him, and even Ji Jin’s attitude had improved a lot compared to the morning.
In the morning, Ji Jin wouldn’t even look at him, but in the evening, he even offered to serve him some food.
However, in any case, getting through this was a good thing; he didn’t have to worry about He Qingmo divorcing him anymore.
So on the way back, he was noticeably in a better mood, with a smile that wouldn’t fade from his lips.
He Qingmo glanced at him and his own lips curled up slightly.
The He family’s mansion was located in the suburbs, and it took over an hour to drive from He Qingmo’s house in the city. They got stuck in a bit of traffic, so by the time they arrived home, it was already past ten o’clock.
Fan Xing went upstairs to run a bath for He Qingmo as soon as they entered the house. However, as soon as he entered the bathroom, He Qingmo followed him in and pushed him out.
Fan Xing stood outside the bathroom, looking at the closed door in confusion. He pursed his lips and smiled softly, then turned and went downstairs to take out the red envelopes he had received at the He family’s house today from his bag.
There were a total of four red envelopes: one for Ji Jin and He Chengyi separately, one for He Qing’an and Susan’s family, and one for He Qingchen and Lin Lin.
Although the quantity didn’t seem like much, the total amount inside added up to several million. In addition, Lin Lin had also given him a watch separately.
Fan Xing didn’t have a good understanding of the prices of such items, but he knew they weren’t cheap.
After calculating the total, he couldn’t help but sigh. The world of the wealthy was something he didn’t fully comprehend. Were meeting gifts usually this extravagant?
He decided to keep them for now since he knew He Qingmo would never accept them. Maybe he could return them if He Qingmo ever wanted a divorce.
After tidying up, he absentmindedly organized the papers he had practiced calligraphy on in the afternoon. Suddenly, he remembered the name He Qingmo had written while holding his hand, and he felt a renewed interest. He picked up a pen and began to practice it.
However, even though He Qingmo had taught him for a long time in the afternoon, without the man’s guidance now, his own handwriting still looked ugly and unattractive.
It was truly frustrating!
Suddenly, He Qingmo came downstairs after his shower and saw the young man looking upset as he stared at the paper with poorly written characters. He couldn’t help but walk over, rubbing the young man’s hair and teasing him, “Hmm, no improvement at all!”
Fan Xing turned to look at He Qingmo and noticed that the man’s wet hair was dripping a few drops onto his face, which felt cold but also slightly warm.
Fan Xing suddenly realized the strange posture they were in, and his cheeks turned crimson. He quickly jumped up from the chair and created some distance between them, saying, “I’m going to take a shower!” It was as if he were running away from a big bad wolf chasing him.
He Qingmo sat down on the chair behind him and lazily rested his chin on his hand. He playfully said, “I’ll be waiting for you in bed, don’t make me wait too long.” He then saw the young man nervously stumble and nearly trip.
Thanks for the update!! 😍😍
