Chapter 35

Xie Xiaojiang was analyzing his inner feelings with confusion and sincerity, “I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with a life of luxury, my education, and even you. None of these should have been mine.”

Yes, without Wei Yuhuan, he might still be struggling in some corner of the city, working tirelessly to make ends meet. Even a normal college student’s life, like Zhao Yan’s, would have been an unattainable dream for him.

But everything has changed now. He stumbled into this house by accident and saw the pairs of slippers, pajamas, the bedroom decorated like a wedding room, and the withered rose petals couldn’t conceal the luxury and the past romance of the place. All of this had nothing to do with him before, but now they were all imbued with his scent.

Xie Xiaojiang had thought about losing all of this, especially after meeting Lou Ze. He had even considered what if Wei Yuhuan fell out of love with him, then what would he do?

Xie Xiaojiang had always thought that the initiative in these matters lay in Wei Yuhuan’s hands. Whether it was himself or Wei Yuhuan’s former lovers, only he had the right to choose others, and no one else had the right to criticize him.

If Wei Yuhuan no longer loved him, he would no longer provide him with a place to live, a job, money, or take care of him so meticulously as he did now.

Therefore, Xie Xiaojiang felt like a person who had picked up treasure on the roadside. He carefully cherished it, fearing that the “owner” would come to reclaim what he had. And that “owner” was Cong Yuan.

At that moment, he felt so panicked yet lucky at the same time. It was fortunate that the idiot had given up on Wei Yuhuan first.

And since he had caught it, he would never let it go easily.

“You silly boy,” Wei Yuhuan kissed him lovingly and gently, both warming and breaking his heart. “It’s something you were meant to have. You should just accept it without any guilt or worries.”

Xie Xiaojiang wasn’t overthinking. He pouted and hugged Wei Yuhuan, wanting to have sex again, as if only through the most intimate physical contact and fluid exchange could he relieve his insecurity and anxiety.

Wei Yuhuan never refused Xie Xiaojiang’s initiative in seeking pleasure. Moreover, after hearing such a heartfelt confession, his love for Xie Xiaojiang was about to burst.

He felt like he had completely fallen into the hands of this little thing. After ten years of wandering, his heart slowly landed and took root in Xie Xiaojiang’s soft and powerful heart as they embraced.

After the passionate encounter, Xie Xiaojiang lay panting on the bed and suddenly remembered how Wei Yuhuan had helped him clean up the mess in the afternoon.

He felt guilty for embarrassing Wei Yuhuan but throughout the whole ordeal, Wei Yuhuan never once blamed him. This was strange to Xie Xiaojiang. “Do you think I’m uncivilized for hitting someone?” he asked.

“In a civilized society, it’s better not to use violence. But in this specific situation, it’s understandable why you did it. However, you should have your own sense of right and wrong, bottom line, and boundaries.” Wei Yuhuan expressed his opinion seriously and then joked, “But I didn’t expect you to have that kind of courage. You’re so small, aren’t you afraid of getting beaten up instead?”

Xie Xiaojiang snorted, “Although I’m short, I never lost a fight when I was young.”

“Oh?” Wei Yuhuan said curiously, “Why? Did you train?”

Xie Xiaojiang lifted his wrist and made a grabbing motion in front of his chest, smiling, “You called me a little crab, right? I have claws.”

Wei Yuhuan was amused by his cute appearance and hugged him tightly, “Yes, yes, I forgot. My little crab is amazing!”

Xie Xiaojiang felt his heart melt as he acted coquettishly, “Daddy, you’re so good to me, you’ll spoil me.”

Wei Yuhuan laughed and rubbed his nose against Xie Xiaojiang’s, “Spoil you? I just love it when you walk with confidence.”

“Really?” Xie Xiaojiang pretended not to believe him.

Wei Yuhuan replied, “When have I ever lied to you?”

Xie Xiaojiang rolled his eyes, thinking to himself that Wei Yuhuan had lied to him multiple times before. He lied about settling things after drinking, lied about taking down the surveillance cameras in his house, and was still hiding so many affairs from him… Hmph, this sweet-talking big pervert.

As he thought of Cong Yuan, Xie Xiaojiang’s jealousy surged again. His eyes flickered as he wanted to test if Wei Yuhuan’s words about “liking to walk sideways” were true. He lightly kicked him under the blanket and said, “You go sleep on the other side tonight. I’m still jealous.”

Wei Yuhuan was left speechless by Xie Xiaojiang’s self-destructive behavior. He saw Xie Xiaojiang watching him for a reaction and felt both sour and sweet in his heart. He was done for – he even liked Xie Xiaojiang’s arrogant demeanor. Was there no hope for him?

“Okay…” Wei Yuhuan obediently moved towards the edge of the bed and looked at Xie Xiaojiang with a pitiful expression.

Xie Xiaojiang raised an eyebrow but didn’t soften his heart. He really fell asleep on his own.

With the lights off, the room was quiet with only the sound of their breathing. After some time, Xie Xiaojiang, who was already half asleep, felt the bed move slightly. Soon, a large hand gently wrapped around his waist.

Before completely falling asleep, Xie Xiaojiang’s lips curved into a victorious smile. He knew that this old man couldn’t resist him.

The incident where Xie Xiaojiang hit him made Wei Yuhuan think of a suspicion that he had previously ignored – whether it was Lou Ze in the past or Cong Yuan now, they knew more about his private life than what he had told them.

Wei Yuhuan valued his personal privacy a lot. Although he had multiple lovers before, he never mentioned another lover in front of one. Even with his closest lover, he wouldn’t reveal the existence of another.

Lou Ze was forgivable, but Cong Yuan… Wei Yuhuan didn’t think he had the ability or consciousness to investigate him, yet he went outside and called Xie Xiaojiang an MB (mentally challenged). How strange.

Wei Yuhuan was not stupid. He figured out where the problem lay – it was his most trusted secretary, Li Xiuya. The villa he bought for Lou Ze was arranged by Li Xiuya, as was the Chunjiang Huajing Garden he purchased to pursue Cong Yuan. Over the years, Wei Yuhuan had placed too much trust in him.

As he recalled his past partners who had all broken up with him for various strange reasons, despite the seemingly easy-going demeanor of Li Xiuya, Wei Yuhuan suddenly realized that he had done so many things behind the scenes that no one knew about.

After scanning Li Xiuya’s almost perfect resume and recent performance, Wei Yuhuan was really struggling with where to start, but when he thought that he might have also stirred up trouble in front of Xie Xiaojiang, he made up his mind and knew that even if this person had strong work abilities and got along well with him in the workplace, he probably couldn’t keep him anymore.

“What are you looking at?” Xie Xiaojiang hopped over like a rabbit, wanting to help Wei Yuhuan with anything he could as he had been studying for an extra year and was able to assist him with more and more things.

Wei Yuhuan quickly used a document to cover up what he was looking at – the handling of Li Xiuya – and didn’t want Xie Xiaojiang to know.

“Green Court Residence Investment Project?” Xie Xiaojiang read the file name on top and didn’t notice that Wei Yuhuan had already made some changes.

Wei Yuhuan also opened the document and explained, “This was a real estate project that Huan Yu invested in two years ago, but it was a relatively unsuccessful investment.”

“Ah? Why?” Xie Xiaojiang thought that all the investments Wei Yuhuan made were profitable.

Wei Yuhuan said, “The government offered the land at a high price, which Huan Yu spent a huge sum of money to win the bid for, but two years ago, the housing prices in S city hit a bottleneck. The houses that were expected to be quickly sold were all unsold. The funds were too slow to circulate, the buildings could not be built, the construction company had several delays and ran away, and the workers also caused trouble, which made it into the news. As a result, Huan Yu was delayed for half a year before going public.”

Xie Xiaojiang asked, “What about now?”

Wei Yuhuan pinched his nose and sighed, “The housing market has rebounded at the beginning of this year, but the negative impact from the beginning cannot be compensated for by this small profit.”

Xie Xiaojiang seemed to understand but also seemed to not understand. However, it was rare to see Wei Yuhuan feeling down, and Xie Xiaojiang felt a bit inexplicably heartbroken. Everyone only saw Wei Yuhuan shining outside and commanding the scene, but they couldn’t feel the pressure of a person in his thirties carrying such a large company.

Xie Xiaojiang walked around to his back, wrapped his arms around him, and imitated Wei Yuhuan’s comforting manner, saying deeply, “Don’t worry, I’m here.”

Wei Yuhuan: “…”

Xie Xiaojiang wanted to make himself stronger and share the pressure with Wei Yuhuan in the future.

Wei Yuhuan was amused by his lover’s childish behavior. Although he secretly thought, “What use could you be?” he had to admit that this simple sentence warmed him up and made him forget all his worries for a moment.

The two hugged and kissed each other, but suddenly someone knocked on the door. Xie Xiaojiang, whose lips were numb from the kiss, quickly jumped away, leaving with a sentence, “I’m going to eat with Zhao Yan,” and ran out.

As he left, he saw Li Xiuya staring at his lips with a strange expression. Xie Xiaojiang blushed as if caught in the act and hurriedly ran away. Before he closed the door, he heard Wei Yuhuan speaking seriously to Li Xiuya, “I was just thinking about talking to you…”

Shaking his head, Xie Xiaojiang ran downstairs to find Zhao Yan.

With Wei Yuhuan’s approval, Zhao Yan had already joined Huan Yu and was assigned to a more experienced colleague as an intern in the financing department.

When Xie Xiaojiang found him, he was writing notes seriously, but Xie Xiaojiang slapped him on the shoulder, causing him to yell out in surprise, “Oh my god, Xie Xiaojiang, you scared me… hey, did you eat spicy hot pot or put on lipstick? Why are your lips so red?”

Xie Xiaojiang: “…”
