Chapter 36
Two people went downstairs to the fast food restaurant for a meal. When there were no acquaintances nearby, Xie Xiaojiang leaned over and whispered, “Because it was kissed by Daddy Wei”.’
Zhao Yan almost spewed out the minced meat he was chewing, his face turning red. He finally swallowed it down and coughed violently.
Xie Xiaojiang’s revenge was successful, and he laughed wildly while patting the table.
“Xie, Xiao, Jiang!” Zhao Yan’s forehead veins were about to burst. If it were anyone else who had exposed the ambiguous relationship with the company boss, they would have tried to avoid suspicion. But since Xie Xiaojiang was exposed as gay by Zhao Yan, he had become completely unrestrained and dared to say anything to him in private.
Zhao Yan suspected that Xie Xiaojiang was doing it on purpose, bullying him for being a single dog who had never been in love! And the worst part was that Xie Xiaojiang was a straight guy. It was too much for him to imagine.
Yes, Xie Xiaojiang was indeed doing it on purpose. After all, Zhao Yan had just asked a stupid question in front of so many people!
After laughing enough, Xie Xiaojiang threw a piece of meat into his mouth and said, “Hey hey, kissing feels so good. Is your first kiss still out there? I mean, come on, while you’re still young, you should find someone to date.”
Zhao Yan replied, “Find your sister!”
Xie Xiaojiang raised an eyebrow and said, “My sister? She’s not even of legal age yet. You pervert, don’t even think about it!”
Zhao Yan: “…” He had forgotten that Xie Xiaojiang had a younger sister. What a jerk! He shouldn’t have nitpicked like that. The two of them laughed and joked as they finished their meal. Xie Xiaojiang packed a combo meal for Wei Yuhuan and headed back to the company. As soon as he got upstairs, he saw Li Xiuya come out of Wei Yuhuan’s office. Xie Xiaojiang was taken aback. He wondered why they had been talking for so long.
As he was about to greet them, Li Xiuya suddenly looked up and his pale face twisted slightly.
Xie Xiaojiang stopped in his tracks. He didn’t know why Li Xiuya was making that expression, but he instinctively became wary.
But all Li Xiuya did was look at Xie Xiaojiang and say, in a calm voice, “Don’t think that just because he’s treating you well now, you’ll have no worries in the future. Just wait and see. What happened to me today will be your fate.”
After saying that, he walked past Xie Xiaojiang without another word, his cold aura as strong as ever.
Xie Xiaojiang stood there in a daze for several seconds before recovering from the uncomfortable feeling of being “warned”. Although Li Xiuya hadn’t said anything particularly vicious, and his tone even sounded somewhat distant, Xie Xiaojiang still sensed a tired, gloomy sense of oppression from him.
He shook his head and walked towards Wei Yuhuan’s office, pushing the door open without knocking.
Wei Yuhuan was sitting in a large leather chair, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows at the bustling city below. His regular exercise and maintenance routine gave him a handsome profile that betrayed no signs of aging. However, it also made Xie Xiaojiang feel that he was somewhat cold and unfeeling.
“Yuhuan Ge…” Xie Xiaojiang called out to him softly, as if afraid of disturbing him.
Wei Yuhuan turned around immediately upon hearing the sound and his expression softened upon seeing Xie Xiaojiang. “Have you eaten?” he asked.
Xie Xiaojiang lifted the lunchbox in his hand. “I brought you some food,” he said.
“Come over,” Wei Yuhuan patted his thigh and smiled, “have some more with me.”
Xie Xiaojiang walked over and asked, “What happened to Li Xiuya?”
Wei Yuhuan frowned. “Did you talk to him? He didn’t say anything to you, did he?”
Xie Xiaojiang had intended to tell Wei Yuhuan what Li Xiuya had said, but he thought of Li Xiuya’s miserable appearance just now and shook his head subconsciously. “Nothing, I just asked because he didn’t look too good.”
“I advised him to resign,” Wei Yuhuan said.
“Why?” Xie Xiaojiang knew that Wei Yuhuan trusted Li Xiuya very much and often gave him a lot of work to do. Li Xiuya was also the busiest of all Wei Yuhuan’s secretaries. How could he suddenly advise him to resign?
Wei Yuhuan sighed and didn’t answer. He just pulled Xie Xiaojiang to sit on his lap and said, “Come, let me hug you.”
Xie Xiaojiang snuggled into his arms, small and fragile, and was easily held by Wei Yuhuan.
“Are you unhappy?” Xie Xiaojiang asked again.
Wei Yuhuan was silent for a moment before admitting, “Yeah, a little bit, after all, we’ve worked together for so long.”
“Then why fire him?” Xie Xiaojiang asked.
“His obsession is too deep. It’s not good for him to continue like this. I didn’t realize it before, but now I see that keeping him by my side is like having a time bomb…” Wei Yuhuan didn’t say the last five words, afraid that Xie Xiaojiang would feel pressured.
Xie Xiaojiang didn’t say anything anymore, but Li Xiuya’s words kept echoing in his ears – “My experience today will be your fate in the future.”
He suddenly realized, if that really happened, what kind of mentality would he have?
This year’s Chinese New Year, Xie Xiaojiang still went back to his hometown, but this time, Wei Yuhuan didn’t have the patience to be apart from him for so long.
Wei’s family went on vacation abroad, and Wei Yuhuan spent Chinese New Year’s Eve with his parents. On the first day of the lunar new year, he was bored and decided to drive alone to Yanghe.
Along the way, he couldn’t help but imagine the surprised expression on Xie Xiaojiang’s face when he saw him, and he couldn’t help but smile.
But when he arrived, Wei Yuhuan called Xie Xiaojiang, but couldn’t get through.
Wei Yuhuan only vaguely remembered the street where Xie Xiaojiang’s aunt lived, and the investigation materials were in the office, which he couldn’t access now.
Driving around the street, Wei Yuhuan saw a familiar figure at the entrance of an alley not far away. He immediately lowered the car window and called out, “Xie Xiaoxi!”
The person turned around – as expected, it was Xie Xiaojiang’s sister.
The little girl was stunned for a moment, walked quickly over, and shook her ponytail. When she saw Wei Yuhuan, she looked nervous and excited, “It’s you!”
Xie Xiaoxi had already started high school, and she had grown much taller in just one year. Maybe their economic conditions had improved, and she looked much brighter than the last time they met. She was wearing a new pink outfit, which was eye-catching.
Two girls who were about the same height as her also followed behind her. They quietly asked Xie Xiaoxi who this person was.
“He is my brother’s boss,” Xie Xiaoxi shyly introduced Wei Yuhuan, and pointed to the two girls beside her, “These are my two cousins.”
Wei Yuhuan nodded to the girls and said, ‘Hello.’
The girls twisted their hands, trying to look poised, but couldn’t hide their curiosity on their faces.
Xie Xiaoxi asked, ‘What are you doing here, Uncle?’
Wei Yuhuan teased her, ‘Don’t call me Uncle, shouldn’t you be calling me Uncle Wei? Or have you forgotten my last name?’
Xie Xiaoxi blushed and said, ‘I haven’t forgotten, Uncle Wei.’
Wei Yuhuan replied with a chuckle, ‘Good. I came to find your brother. Where is he?’
Xie Xiaoxi said, ‘He’s at the hospital.’
Wei Yuhuan’s heart skipped a beat. ‘What’s he doing at the hospital? Did something happen?’
Xie Xiaoxi quickly waved her hands and said, ‘No, no! It’s my uncle. He slipped and fell earlier this year, hurt his waist, and just had a small operation. He’s still in the hospital, and my brother is there keeping him company. We were just on our way there.’
Wei Yuhuan instantly breathed a sigh of relief. ‘Is the hospital far? If you don’t mind, I can drive you guys there.’
The girls happily got into the car, which was filled with several boxes of exquisitely packaged gift boxes and snacks from Wei’s family and friends, which they received during holidays and couldn’t finish eating every year. Wei Yuhuan brought some to give to Xie Xiaojian’s relatives.
It was perfect timing, as it could also serve as a gift for the first meeting with Xie’s “uncle”.
At the hospital, Wei Yuhuan asked the girls to each pick up a box, and he himself took out two good cigarettes from the trunk and walked into the hospital ward with great pride.
Xie Xiaojiang was pouring tea for his uncle when he turned around and saw Wei Yuhuan bringing three sisters with him. He was completely confused.
“Damn…!”
After that, there was naturally a lot of chaos. Xie Xiaojiang’s uncle, upon hearing that the visitor was his nephew’s boss, wanted to get up and greet him despite having just undergone surgery. Xie Xiaojiang had given them a lot of money since he returned this year, and now his entire family knew that their nephew had made it big in the big city, so they wanted to curry favor with him.
Although the uncle’s enthusiasm was held back by Xie Xiaojiang, he still looked at him with eyes like those for the God of Wealth, thinking about his nephew’s future prospects given what this big boss had given him. The honest man had a touch of simplicity in his bones. After chatting for a while, he realized he was feeling guilty and said, “Oh, Boss Wei, you’re really too kind to me! Going to the hospital on New Year’s Day is such bad luck! Xiao Xie, hurry up and take the boss outside to have a look, don’t mind me, Jingjing and the others are here with me!”
After hearing this, Xie Xiaojiang quickly took Wei Yuhuan away. Once they were back in the car, he scolded him.
He didn’t know what was wrong with this old man, coming to see him on New Year’s Day, it was so strange for outsiders to see. And just now in the hospital room, he didn’t know how the sisters ended up meeting him. He pretended to go see his “uncle”, but half the time, he was looking at himself. Xie Xiaojiang was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he would reveal a flaw!
Wei Yuhuan was happy-go-lucky and didn’t care what he said. He was just overjoyed to see him.
As they were driving, and Xie Xiaojiang was still grumbling, Wei Yuhuan suddenly hit the brakes, pulled him over, and pressed a kiss to the back of his head, saying, “I missed you so much.”
Xie Xiaojiang blushed and turned his head to the side, completely speechless.
The town was deserted during the New Year, with even the vendors gone home. After briefly introducing the area, Xie Xiaojiang took Wei Yuhuan to a hotel to check in. This man clearly intended to stay until the fifth day and take Xie Xiaojiang back to S city.
Once they entered the hotel room, it’s unclear who made the first move, but they quickly became intimate. Clothes were thrown off without a care, and they were consumed with passion.
For Wei Yuhuan, it was a relief to finally be with Xie Xiaojiang after days of longing. He kissed his chin, unable to get enough of his scent, feeling like he could never leave this little crab.
Xie Xiaojiang lamented, “I have to go to my grandparents’ grave tomorrow. What are you going to do?”
Wei Yuhuan blurted out, “I’ll go with you.”
Xie Xiaojiang couldn’t help but laugh and cry, and hit him, saying, “You’re crazy. I’m going to my ancestors’ grave, what are you doing there? Maybe my grandparents will haunt you at night!”
Wei Yuhuan’s eye twitched, and he slapped Xie Xiaojiang’s butt, saying, “I’m your husband, you’re mine for life. Can’t I pay respects to your grandparents with some incense? I’ll talk to them tomorrow!”
