Chapter 22

Gu Yang’s skipped classes yesterday didn’t really have much impact on others, except perhaps providing gossip fodder for bystanders to discuss whether he skipped because he did poorly on a test and didn’t want to face Lin Xiaoran.

However, it had a significant impact on himself because Lin Xiaoran asked him to redo all the failing papers he handed out yesterday.

So, he spent most of the day writing assignments, not even resting during breaks.

Chen Hongqiang and Jiang Tao came over several times during breaks, peeking in from the back door to see him. Seeing him busy writing, they glanced at Lin Xiaoran beside him and didn’t dare to disturb.

“What should we do?” Jiang Tao asked.

Chen Hongqiang scratched his head. “What can we do? How about sending a WeChat message to Yang-ge? I definitely won’t dare to disturb Yang-ge at a time like this. And I’m afraid Student Lin won’t be happy either.”

“Then… okay.” Jiang Tao nodded helplessly, then sent a message to Gu Yang, suddenly thinking of something. “Should I also invite Student Lin?”

“Huh?”

“You see, with the current relationship between Student Lin and Yang-ge, although Yang-ge told us not to call him ‘big sister-in-law’, I still think he is. I, as his brother, am celebrating my birthday. Just calling him ‘big brother’ and not ‘big sister-in-law’ doesn’t seem appropriate, right?”

Chen Hongqiang paused for a moment, feeling that what Jiang Tao said made sense.

Although Gu Yang had told him that his relationship with Lin Xiaoran wasn’t like that, after observing for some time, he always felt that Gu Yang wasn’t telling the whole truth.

“Alright, then you tell Yang-ge and invite Student Lin to join us.”

After the two of them discussed and reached a decision, Jiang Tao immediately composed a message and sent it to Gu Yang.

Finally finishing the last question on the physics paper, Gu Yang put down his pen and received a message. Opening it, he read: “Yang-ge, today is my birthday. Please come out with the brothers tonight for a meal. You must come, and you can also ask Student Lin if he wants to join.”

Seeing Lin Xiaoran’s name, Gu Yang was a bit surprised. His amber eyes paused for a moment, then he smiled, handing the phone to Lin Xiaoran and said, “You’re quite popular. Will you go?”

Lin Xiaoran, who was resting his face on his arm on the desk without his glasses, heard the dense voice and trembled his eyelashes slightly. He lazily opened his eyes, glanced at his phone screen, rolled his eyes instantly, then turned his head and continued sleeping in a different position.

Gu Yang couldn’t help but chuckle at his impatient look, then replied to Jiang Tao: “Student Lin isn’t giving face. I’ll join you guys after evening self-study. You guys go first.”

Lin Xiaoran didn’t care about his exams, didn’t care about attending school on time or leaving school, but he didn’t say anything about what he did after school.

So after evening self-study, he greeted Lin Xiaoran and went with the group.

Naturally, Lin Xiaoran didn’t interfere, rode back to Gu’s house, took a shower, video called Lin Lan, and then went to bed.

Last night, he was woken up in the middle of the night and talked with Gu Yang for a while, which still affected his sleep to some extent. So tonight, he felt a bit drowsy and fell asleep as soon as he got into bed.

But he was woken up again in the middle of the night.

Clatter, clatter, the sound of things being smashed, even more intense than last night.

Gu Xiuyuan roared angrily, “You beast, how much more do you want to mess around before you’re satisfied? I’ve lost face today! Even for such shameless things, you still did them. Do you intend to spend the rest of your life in jail? Speak, speak up, tell me what disgraceful things you’ve done today to embarrass the Gu family!”

Clatter, clatter…

But Gu Yang didn’t say anything.

“Stop right there!” Gu Xiuyuan roared, “Today, you must explain clearly what you’ve done to that Omega! How old are you? How could you do such a thing? By doing this, you’ll ruin…”

“I said I didn’t do it!”

In the darkness, Lin Xiaoran couldn’t help but pause.

Gu Yang’s voice, filled with anger.

It was the first time he had heard Gu Yang speak with such obvious emotions.

“If you didn’t do it, why did that Omega blame you? With so many people present, why did she only pick you? Tell me why?” Gu Xiuyuan questioned loudly.

“How would I know?” Gu Yang replied impatiently.

“You don’t know? How could you not know? You deliberately did these things to spite me. You just want to disgrace me, don’t you? Since you’re so dissatisfied with me, why do you still stay in this house? Eating my food, using my resources, and causing trouble every day. Am I raising a son or a troublemaker? Get out, get out of my house, and never come back! ” Gu Xiuyuan was uncontrollably angry, not mincing his words.

But Gu Yang remained silent.

Lin Xiaoran, no longer feeling sleepy, sat up, wondering if going out now would make it awkward for them?

Then he heard the aunt in the house panicking, “Yangyang, where are you going in the middle of the night? You child, how can you take your dad’s quarrel seriously? Yangyang…”

“Get out! Let him go! Don’t stop him! Isn’t he capable enough? Let him go out by himself and see if he can survive for three days.” Gu Xiuyuan was still furious, adding fuel to the fire.

But he was still the head of the household. After he shouted, the aunt in the house fell silent.

Lin Xiaoran walked to the window and looked out. His room faced Gu’s garden. Under the dim streetlights, Gu Yang walked out through the stone arch bridge.

Was this guy really leaving home in the middle of the night?

Thinking like this, Lin Xiaoran quickly walked out of the room.

There was suddenly no sound downstairs.

He walked down the stairs and saw the floor littered with debris, but Gu Xiuyuan was nowhere to be seen. The aunt sat alone on the sofa, lost in thought.

Hearing footsteps, the aunt looked up at him, worry and embarrassment evident in her eyes. “Did it disturb you?”

Lin Xiaoran looked outside the door and didn’t go after Gu Yang. He probably wouldn’t catch up now.

He descended the stairs and casually picked up a few items that hadn’t been smashed to pieces and placed them on the coffee table. Sitting beside the aunt, he asked softly, “What happened?”

Although he had gleaned some clues from Mr. Gu’s words, he still didn’t fully understand what had happened.

The aunt shook her head. “I’m not entirely sure either. Mr. Gu just came back home in the early morning and received a call from the police station as soon as he entered the house. Then he hurried out. When he came back, he was furious. It sounds like Yangyang really got into trouble. But…”

The aunt grew increasingly anxious as she spoke. “Yangyang isn’t that kind of person. I’ve watched him grow up. He knows his limits and wouldn’t do such things. Mr. Gu was probably just angry and kicked him out without considering the situation. It’s late at night, and I don’t know where that child would go.”

Lin Xiaoran had been living here for some time and knew that the aunt genuinely cared about Gu Yang. She was truly worried now, so he rarely spoke up to comfort her. “Don’t worry, Gu Yang is grown up now and will be fine. I’ll give him a call later.”

“Okay.” The aunt grabbed Lin Xiaoran’s hand, seeming to find some support, “Nanran, I’m counting on you. You’re about the same age, you get along well, please talk to him and ask him not to be angry with his father and come back home early.”

Lin Xiaoran nodded in agreement.

But Gu Yang’s phone couldn’t be reached.

Moreover, Gu Yang still didn’t go to school the next day.

During break time, Lin Xiaoran tried calling him again, but his phone was still off.

It seemed like he was determined not to be found.

Recalling the frantic words Gu Xiuyuan had shouted last night, Lin Xiaoran couldn’t blame Gu Yang for his actions.

He had always known that Gu Yang and Gu Xiuyuan’s relationship wasn’t good, but they maintained a peaceful facade on the surface.

Sometimes, maintaining peace for too long might only lead to more suppression.

Last night, perhaps both of them had been suppressing their feelings for too long, and it had erupted.

He put down his phone and saw Chen Hongqiang peeking in from the back door. Their eyes met, and Chen Hongqiang, feeling guilty like a thief, was about to leave.

“Stop!”

His clear voice wasn’t loud, but it instantly quieted down the noisy crowd, and Chen Hongqiang at the door also stopped in his tracks.

Lin Xiaoran stood up, ignoring the surprised gazes of the others, and walked out, gesturing for Chen Hongqiang to follow him into the east corridor.

Just as the bell rang, it was ignored by Lin Xiaoran. The other students rushed into the classroom, and the corridor became quiet.

“What happened to Gu Yang last night?” Lin Xiaoran got straight to the point.

Chen Hongqiang was already somewhat afraid of him and also worried about Gu Yang, so he blurted out everything.

It turned out that last night was Jiang Tao’s birthday, so they went out for dinner with a few friends. After dinner, they went to KTV to sing. Everything was fine, but suddenly, a Omega in heat burst into their private room and started chasing after several of their friends.

That Omega was a student from No. 7 High School.

Of course, Gu Yang and the others couldn’t just stand by.

At that time, the Omega’s pheromones were so overwhelming that even the Alphas present were affected. They were afraid that the Alpha pheromones would further stimulate the others, so they wanted to leave her alone in the room while the others went out to deal with the troublemakers.

But that Omega kept holding onto Gu Yang, seemingly dependent on him.

The troublemakers outside provoked them again, and everyone was in a bad mood due to the overwhelming pheromones. Nobody could control themselves, so someone directly closed the door, leaving Chen Hongqiang and the others to fight with the troublemakers outside while Gu Yang and the Omega were trapped inside the room.

Later, the police were called, and they were taken to the police station.

Originally, it wasn’t Gu Yang’s fault, so they were just given a verbal warning. But unexpectedly, the Omega insisted that Gu Yang had taken advantage of her.

Because there was only her and Gu Yang in the room at the time, and no one could prove that Gu Yang hadn’t done anything, and the Omega, being naturally delicate, cried and claimed that Gu Yang had taken advantage of her. Gu Yang couldn’t defend himself.

Later, Gu Xiuyuan received a call to go to the police station. The police, taking advantage of the girl being traumatized and incoherent, temporarily let them all go home.

“Schoolmaster, I’m telling the truth. Yang-ge couldn’t have done it. At that time, the Omega’s pheromones were so strong that almost all of us Alphas were out of control, but when Yang-ge finally came out of the room with her, there was hardly any pheromone smell on him, and he looked calm. I’ve known Yang-ge for several years, and I know how strong his self-control is, and he wouldn’t do such a thing.” Chen Hongqiang explained urgently.

“What about that Omega?” Lin Xiaoran asked.

“She didn’t come to school today. Honestly, how could she turn against us like this? If she comes, I’ll definitely find her!” Chen Hongqiang said indignantly.

Lin Xiaoran nodded without commenting. “Can you reach Gu Yang?”

“Huh?” Chen Hongqiang was surprised. “You can’t reach him either, Schoolmaster? I’ve been trying to call him all morning, but it’s still off. I thought you could reach him.”

“Just let me know if you have any news about him,” Lin Xiaoran didn’t waste any more words. After saying that, he went back to the classroom to continue his class.

However, for the next three days, Gu Yang neither went home nor went to school, and his phone remained off.

The atmosphere at the Gu family became increasingly strange, with Gu Xiuyuan not saying anything, but Lin Xiaoran could tell that he was very worried. However, he probably still thought that Gu Yang had done something shameful and was unwilling to compromise.

Finally, on the fourth day after evening self-study, Chen Hongqiang brought news about Gu Yang.

“Schoolmaster, um… actually, Gu Yang told me not to say. But I think you’re different, and Gu Yang won’t blame me. But when you go, it’s better not to say that I told you, okay?”

Ignoring Chen Hongqiang’s “you’re different” remark, Lin Xiaoran nodded and thanked him, then packed up his backpack and rode his bike to the address Chen Hongqiang had given him.

On the way, he was a bit puzzled. Why did he have to go find Gu Yang?

Gu Yang’s quarrel with his father didn’t really concern him, did it?

After thinking for a while, he couldn’t figure it out, but he had already stopped outside the destination.
