Chapter 162

With Allen’s ever-changing expression before him, Huang Zhengming’s burning gaze behind him, and Qin Chao’s teasing glances from afar, Su Bin felt like he was sitting on pins and needles during this meal.

Allen calmly enjoyed the food on the table, but Su Bin couldn’t shake the feeling that everything only seemed calm on the surface.

As expected, just after putting down his chopsticks, Huang Zhengming’s voice rang out—”Su Bin, I want to talk to you.”

Su Bin: “…”

In an instant, Allen’s sharp gaze locked onto Huang Zhengming, and the atmosphere became tense.

Clearly, now was not the time for a “chat,” right? Su Bin didn’t know what had triggered Huang Zhengming, but he had a strong feeling that whatever Huang Zhengming said now would surely upset Allen.

Su Bin politely refused, “It’s working hours. If you have something to say, let’s talk later.”

But Huang Zhengming didn’t catch the hint. He pulled the chair between them out and sat down, clearly intent on confronting Su Bin.

Allen wiped his mouth with a napkin and glanced at Su Bin.

That look made Su Bin shiver. When he had confessed to Allen, he’d said that he didn’t have much contact with Huang Zhengming. But the situation now clearly contradicted what he had told Allen!

With Allen present, Huang Zhengming was so “eager” to engage in conversation. In Allen’s eyes, if he weren’t here, wouldn’t Huang Zhengming be even more persistent?

Su Bin inwardly groaned. Huang Zhengming was digging his own grave and dragging him into it—this was trouble!

“What do you want to say? Hurry up,” Su Bin said, clearly losing his patience.

Huang Zhengming asked, “What’s your relationship with this foreigner?” He spoke in Chinese, likely knowing that Allen couldn’t understand. His tone, instead of being disrespectful, carried a palpable hostility.

Su Bin glanced at Allen apologetically and silently signaled “I’ll explain later,” before looking back at Huang Zhengming. “Do you really need to know? It’s none of your business.”

Huang Zhengming remained silent, his expression hurt.

Su Bin couldn’t stand seeing him like that and reluctantly said, “You saw it, didn’t you? He held my hand earlier and kissed me. We’re together. We’re… a couple. Is that enough for you?”

Huang Zhengming frowned. “Is it… because of me and Chen Xiaotian? Did our relationship hurt you, and that’s why you’re with him?”

Su Bin felt a headache coming on. How was he supposed to answer that? It was partially true, but it didn’t feel like the right explanation. It was awkward, and he didn’t want to admit it.

Su Bin clenched his fist under the table, his palms sweating. “It’s got nothing to do with you. This is my own choice.” Allen had brought him here, openly showing affection in front of him. It was as if he was testing whether Su Bin could come out to the world and be honest with Huang Zhengming.

Huang Zhengming’s frown deepened. “Why choose this?”

Su Bin paused and then answered, “He treats me well. He won’t betray me or abandon me. He’ll always protect me and make sure I’m not hurt. Is that answer satisfactory?”

Huang Zhengming fell completely silent. Su Bin’s words were like an indirect critique of his and Chen Xiaotian’s betrayal and lies. Huang Zhengming knew, deep down, that Su Bin’s current behavior had to be related to their past. If Su Bin were still the naive kid he was when he was with Chen Xiaotian, he wouldn’t have turned out like this. But what right did he have to accuse or question Su Bin?

Su Bin stood up, signaling that it was time to leave. “If you don’t have anything else to say, we’re leaving.”

“Wait,” Huang Zhengming called out to him, his voice filled with concern. “Does your father know you’re with him?”

“His?” Su Bin scoffed. Since that text from his father at the airport two years ago, they hadn’t been in contact. “Does it matter if he knows?”

Huang Zhengming was taken aback. “What do you mean?”

Su Bin sneered. “My father has a new family. I’m just a redundant presence in his life now. He probably hopes I’ll stay out of his way. Why would he care who I’m with?”

Huang Zhengming stared at him, wide-eyed. “Su Bin, your father contacted you. Didn’t he reach out to you?”

Su Bin looked confused. “Contact me?”

“Yeah, he called me last year. The first time, he asked if you had returned to the country. I told him you had dropped out, and he seemed really surprised. Didn’t you tell him? Then, he asked if I knew how to contact you in B country. He heard that his factory ran into some problems, went bankrupt, and there was a car accident. I wanted to go see him, but he refused to tell me where he was hospitalized…” Huang Zhengming sighed, looking frustrated. “When you dropped out, I sent you messages, called, and even emailed, but you never responded. So, I assumed you blocked me. When your father asked, I wasn’t sure if you were even still using that phone number… Have you really not heard from him?”

Su Bin was stunned. He hadn’t changed his phone number in B country, hoping that one day his father would reach out. But it never happened. He hadn’t even received any of the messages or emails Huang Zhengming mentioned!

At that moment, Allen impatiently furrowed his brow and lightly tapped the table with his fingers. “Are we done here?”

Su Bin looked at Huang Zhengming and replied, “I’ll call about my father later. But as for who I’m with, I don’t think he cares.” Then, turning away, he said, “Alright, let’s talk about this another time.”

“Su Bin!” Huang Zhengming panicked and grabbed Su Bin’s hand.

This action immediately provoked Allen. Seeing the change in Allen’s expression, Su Bin quickly jerked his hand away from Huang Zhengming and grabbed Allen’s arm, subtly shaking his head to silently plead with him not to make a scene here.

Allen’s piercing gaze fixed on Huang Zhengming, and he warned coldly, “Don’t touch him. He’s mine.”

Huang Zhengming: “…”

Watching Su Bin and Allen leave, Qin Chao suddenly understood the hostile look Allen had given him during Su Bin’s graduation ceremony… Oh my god, so that’s what happened! Looks like he’ll have to keep his distance from Boss Su from now on!

“We’re not going to the medical school. Just head home.” Once in the car, Allen ordered.

Su Bin: “…Okay.”

Allen: “You’re in a bad mood. What are you thinking about?”

Su Bin: “Allen, why did you take me to the restaurant today, and do that kind of thing in front of so many people?”

Allen: “I wanted to see what Huang Zhengming’s intentions are. Didn’t you say that he works for Boss Su and rarely interacts with you? Don’t you know what he’s thinking?”

Su Bin: “…I thought he just wanted to reconcile with me.”

Allen snorted softly. A friend who really wanted to reconcile wouldn’t have such a reaction upon hearing that their friend had a ‘lover.’ Qin Chao was also Su Bin’s friend, and his reaction was completely different from Huang Zhengming’s. Huang Zhengming’s unease and inexplicable hostility could only mean one thing—he was jealous!

“Allen, I also heard Huang Zhengming say that he sent me a lot of messages and emails and even called me, but I didn’t receive any of them. He said my dad had some problems last year and wanted to contact me, but I didn’t get anything…” Su Bin paused, his tone a little dejected as he asked, “…Was it you?”

Allen was silent for a moment, then casually admitted, “Yes.”

Su Bin slammed on the brakes, dejectedly gripping the steering wheel, and asked, “…Why?”

After a brief pause, Allen’s face darkened, and he unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. They were just a few steps from home, and Allen immediately turned and stormed off.

Su Bin was stunned… Wait, shouldn’t I be the one angry? Allen did that, and now he doesn’t even let me ask “why”?

…Ahh! This arrogant guy! Have I spoiled him too much?

Grumbling in frustration, Su Bin turned off the car and followed after him. “Allen, Allen!”

At this time, no one was home. Su Bin huffed as he chased Allen into the house. As soon as he entered Allen’s room, Allen suddenly turned around, locking eyes with Su Bin.

“Allen…” Su Bin was momentarily stunned. Before he could react, Allen grabbed his hand, pushed him against the wall, and kissed him with a forceful, frustrated energy.

Allen restrained him, his tongue invading Su Bin’s mouth without restraint, swirling and sucking with ferocity, even using his teeth to bite Su Bin’s lips without mercy.

Su Bin winced from the pain… What was this? Was Allen angry or just embarrassed?

Unable to break free, Su Bin felt both speechless and irritated, an angry flare growing inside him.

“Mm…” Finally, Su Bin used all his strength to push Allen away. He glared at him, eyes reddened, and yelled, “You’re being unreasonable!”

Allen was caught off guard by the shove, his face darkening further.

Since they got together, Su Bin had never resisted him like this… The little fool had always been obedient, never daring to go against him; he had small thoughts but never crossed the line; he overthought things and occasionally caused some trouble, but he was always within Allen’s control… But now, because of a few contacts Allen had blocked, Su Bin dared to challenge him?

“Reasonable?” Allen narrowed his eyes, speaking coldly, “So what if I did it? Do I not have the right to do so?”

Su Bin was taken aback for a moment, then quickly retorted, “But that’s my dad! Didn’t you just tell me Huang Zhengming said he went bankrupt and had a car accident?”

Allen: “So what? Are you going back to see him? Or help him? What can you even do with your skills?”

Su Bin: “I still have the right to know!”

Allen: “Knowing won’t do anything but cause you trouble.”

Su Bin was left speechless. He couldn’t come up with a rebuttal; Allen was always right. He did have the right to do these things, but Su Bin just couldn’t accept it! When he agreed to be with Allen two years ago, he never imagined their relationship would reach this point…

Allen raised his hand and gently touched Su Bin’s lower lip, which had been slightly hurt from the kiss.

Su Bin instinctively pulled back, and Allen’s arm trembled slightly. His gaze darkened…

“Allen,” Su Bin’s tone softened again, and he instinctively lowered his voice. He pulled Allen to sit down, “Let’s talk properly.”

Allen: “You speak.”

Su Bin took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself, and furrowed his brows. “Why… did you choose me?”

Allen was taken aback. Su Bin had asked him this question, drunkenly, that night at Marises Manor, but now he was asking it sober, face-to-face.

Allen pinched Su Bin’s chin, replying, “That question is as silly as asking your parents ‘why am I their child?’ There’s no special reason. Just take it as fate.”

Su Bin didn’t expect that answer, and for a moment, he was stunned.

He switched to another question. “Allen, we’ve been together for so long, have you ever regretted it? Do you ever think I’m foolish or not worthy of the way you treat me?”

Allen frowned, displeased. “Why would you think that?”

Su Bin: “Lately, I’ve been thinking about the promise we made when we got together, and I realize I can never do it right.”
