Chapter 19

Lin Xiaoran: “…”

He didn’t speak, just looked at the unfamiliar girl, waiting quietly for what she had to say.

“I’m Han Lu from Chunfeng. I heard you publicly claimed last night that you didn’t know me. So, I came here today specifically to let you get to know me. So, how about it? Do you remember what I look like now?”

As she spoke, Han Lu walked up to Lin Xiaoran, tilting her head up, with a confident yet somewhat provocative smile on her lips as she looked at him. She seemed extremely confident in her appearance, convinced that Lin Xiaoran would be attracted to her upon seeing her.

Gu Yang’s amber eyes briefly glanced over Han Lu, then flicked away, a hint of displeasure barely visible. But compared to a school belle actively pursuing someone and confessing with an aggressive attitude, what interested him more was Lin Xiaoran’s reaction.

In Seven Middle School, Lin Xiaoran had many admirers. There was a dedicated section on the school forum where all the fans of the school genius gathered. However, perhaps due to Lin Xiaoran’s usual aura of keeping people at bay, Gu Yang had never seen anyone dare to confess to him so brazenly.

So, he was curious how Lin Xiaoran would handle this situation.

Rubbing his nose slightly, his gaze fell on Lin Xiaoran’s profile.

The dim light of the alleyway’s streetlamp reflected on Lin Xiaoran’s excessively beautiful face. A hint of impatience was evident in his dark bright eyes, with a slight curl at the corner of his mouth.

Seeing this scene, Gu Yang suspected that Lin Xiaoran would retort with a “None of your business” in the next second. But instead of that, Lin Xiaoran pursed his lips, seemingly swallowing back the words he was about to say, and after a pause, he asked, “Is there anything else?”

The implication was clear: if not, please leave.

“Heh~”

Gu Yang couldn’t help but laugh.

Indeed, Lin, the school genius, was sometimes quite dense, utterly oblivious to romantic gestures.

Han Lu also didn’t expect Lin Xiaoran’s reaction. She was the school belle of Chunfeng, a delicate Omega who was usually adored by everyone. Rarely did she take the initiative like this, and instead of being flattered, the other party responded with impatience. When had she ever been treated with such disregard?

The key was that Gu Yang laughed at such a moment, making it obvious he was mocking her.

Unable to vent her anger on Lin Xiaoran, Han Lu redirected her fury towards Gu Yang, glaring at him with her almond eyes, “I know who you are, Gu Yang, the school bully of Seven Middle School. I’m talking to Lin Xiaoran now. Can’t you step aside?”

Gu Yang stifled his laughter, unfazed by Han Lu’s attitude. Instead, he pretended to be surprised, “Wow, the school belle of Chunfeng knows me? What an honor! Since that’s the case, let me kindly advise the school belle,” he pointed at Lin Xiaoran, “this guy is clueless. Don’t waste your time on him.”

As his words fell, two icy glares shot towards him, piercing his face.

He knew it was Lin Xiaoran, but he didn’t feel any remorse for getting caught badmouthing someone. Instead, he turned his head and winked at Lin Xiaoran, as if to say, “I’m helping you, you know?”

Lin Xiaoran gave him a sidelong glance but didn’t respond. He turned back to Han Lu and said in a clear voice, “He’s right. Don’t waste your time.”

With that, he bypassed Han Lu and walked away.

As the main target left, Gu Yang naturally didn’t linger. He hurried to catch up, joking with Lin Xiaoran, “Hey, are you just going to leave like this? She’s the school belle of Chunfeng, you know.”

Lin Xiaoran rolled his eyes at him, ignoring him.

Gu Yang, for some reason, suddenly became very talkative. He continued, “Besides, she’s pretty good-looking, and seems to have a thing for you. You went to their school for a math competition last semester, right? She’s still thinking about you till now, which means…”

Suddenly, he stopped, and Lin Xiaoran also halted his steps, turning his head to meet Gu Yang’s gaze. Both of them had a look of disbelief in their eyes, then turned simultaneously to see Han Lu still standing at the end of the alley, facing them, head held high, smiling proudly like a peacock.

Lin Xiaoran and Gu Yang didn’t turn back because they had a telepathic connection with her; they turned because they smelled the thick scent of Omega pheromones in the air, emanating from Han Lu’s body.

While Alphas might emit pheromones during intense physical activity or heightened emotional states, Omegas typically didn’t unless it was during heat, and even then, it was rare unless induced by an Alpha or released voluntarily.

But it was almost unheard of for an Omega to actively release pheromones in public, as such behavior was generally seen as soliciting.

And yet, here was Han Lu, standing in the middle of the street, blatantly emitting dense pheromones, essentially attracting every nearby Alpha.

All this just to pursue a guy?

Gu Yang felt that Han Lu had truly reached an unreasonable level.

But regardless, this matter was directed at Lin Xiaoran. He turned to look at Lin Xiaoran, who remained as calm and indifferent as ever, without much expression on his face. After giving Han Lu a glance, he turned back and continued walking.

Han Lu refused to give up, shouting at him, “Lin Xiaoran, are you an Alpha? Do you know how dangerous it is to leave me alone here right now?”

Knowing the situation but still acting this way, whose fault is it?

Gu Yang couldn’t help but scoff inwardly.

But this situation was indeed tricky.

Although Han Lu brought this upon herself, she came to find Lin Xiaoran after all. If something were to happen, Lin Xiaoran would inevitably be implicated.

“Aren’t you going to do something about her?” Gu Yang asked.

Lin Xiaoran ignored him, took out his phone from his pocket, and dialed a number. “Hello, 110? I’ve encountered an Omega in heat. The address is…”

Gu Yang: “…”

Alright, he really didn’t expect it could be this straightforward, but this method is indeed the most convenient.

He couldn’t help but glance at Lin Xiaoran, feeling that this guy was a bit dense in some aspects, yet overly clever in others.

Feeling his gaze, Lin Xiaoran turned to look at him without saying a word, but the meaning was clear: What are you looking at?

Gu Yang didn’t feel guilty for being caught staring and chuckled, “Omegas these days are really something else. They dare to do anything just to pursue someone. If she finds out that you’re not an Alpha and her pheromones have no effect on you, how disappointed will she be?”

Lin Xiaoran seemed to think of something, and his clear eyes scanned him up and down, looking somewhat surprised, “Seems like it doesn’t affect you either.”

Um…

So, as I said, my self-control is very good. I don’t just lose control over any Omega I come across!

However, as soon as this thought crossed Gu Yang’s mind, he immediately pushed it back down.

Joking aside, if he said that, wouldn’t it make it even more unclear why he lost control around Lin Xiaoran?

So, it’s better to pretend I didn’t hear it.

“Oh? The pancakes from this place are particularly delicious. Come on, let’s go buy two.” With that, he grabbed Lin Xiaoran’s hand and ran over.

Lin Xiaoran wasn’t really curious whether Gu Yang didn’t react to Han Lu’s pheromones or not. Besides, he hadn’t eaten dinner yet, and he was more interested in filling his stomach than whether Gu Yang really had good self-control.

“Boss, give me two, with an extra egg. Oh, and one without onions and cilantro,” Gu Yang ordered, then looked at Lin Xiaoran with some surprise. His mouth moved as if to say something, but before he could speak, Gu Yang smiled at him, “Every evening when we have dinner together, I see you picking out the cilantro and onions from your food, one by one. Hey,” he pointed to the nearby bubble tea shop, “you wait here; I’ll go buy two cups of bubble tea. And, I remember you don’t like sweet, right? I won’t add sugar to your cup.”

With that, he walked briskly to the bubble tea shop.

Lin Xiaoran stood in front of the pancake stall, watching him. A hint of confusion flashed in his clear eyes. Was Gu Yang really this considerate? How could they have lived under the same roof for a week, and he had no idea what Gu Yang liked or disliked?
